Carries the empty and error frames from #3220, which sat on a stack of frame PRs that #3345 replaced. The frames were drawn by ux-lead on 11-01. This PR moves only the frames #3345 didn't cover onto current main.

What's drawn

A new Empty and error block (#s-empty) in docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html, at 1440 and 390:

  • No pods yet: the pod list shows one line and New pod. The tabs stay, with a 0 count.
  • Empty board: all three columns stay, each with its own line ("Nothing pending", "All clear"), so the page never looks broken.
  • Board failed to load: the head stays, with one title, one line and Retry.
  • Agent with no memory: the memory nav stays with 0 counts, and one status line sits where the notes would be. The line doesn't blame the person, because it also shows when the page is denied.
  • Page not found: new. Live sends an unknown route to /v2 without a word. Signed in, this frame keeps the rail and gives one ink key, Back to pods.

What changed from #3220

  • Agent not found is dropped. Main already draws it under the agent profile (#s-agent-profile, data-state="notfound"), and the notes table points there.
  • Every frame carries data-state (empty, error or notfound), so measure_after.js skips them and targets.json does not move. docs(design): d215 empty and error states on drawn pages (TASK-757) #3220 had added them as twelve scored targets, before the README's rule for state frames existed.
  • The phone rows get three 280 px columns. The shared .row2--even grid gives its third column the notes' 1fr, which stretched the third phone frame to 956 px.
  • The README lists the block with the other state blocks and puts it in the "drawn after the pick" group.

Proof

  • node --test cap/measure_after.test.js: 17 of 17 pass. targets.json is byte-identical to main's.
  • Headless Chromium, in light and dark: every frame in the block renders at its size (1440 frames 767×479, phone frames 280×606), with no horizontal overflow. Every class and icon the block uses resolves on main, and none of its new class names collides with an existing rule.

Not proven

  • Sam hasn't reviewed these frames. They're in the "drawn after the pick" group, like the rest of the 11-01 drawings.
  • No page is built to them yet. The page-not-found frame needs a route change, and that's its own PR.

…d an unknown page

Carried from #3220, which was stacked on frame PRs that #3345 replaced.
Empty pod list, empty board, the board's load error, an agent with no
memory, and a page not found that replaces live's silent redirect to /v2,
at 1440 and 390. Agent not found is already drawn under the agent profile,
so its frames are dropped here. Every frame carries data-state, so the
scorer skips them and targets.json does not move. The phone rows get three
280 px columns; the shared row grid stretched a third frame to the notes
column.

Drawn by ux-lead on 11-01.

Walkthrough

The d215 design set adds shared styling and desktop and mobile artboards for empty and error states. It also documents the not-found design and its relationship to current route behavior.

Changes: Empty and Error Artboards

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared empty-state styling
docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html
Adds shared styles for empty pod sidebars, board columns, centered page messages, and memory status text. Mobile rules adjust actions and search controls.
Empty and error artboards
docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html, docs/design/artboards/d215/README.md
Adds navigation and desktop and mobile examples for empty pods, empty and failed boards, an agent without memory, and signed-in not-found pages. The README describes the states, frames, and scorer exclusion. The not-found design shows a “Back to pods” action; the notes state that signed-out routes still fall through to sign-in and unknown live routes currently redirect to /v2.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to e7b9a

The PR unintentionally changes an existing scored frame and renders the new phone examples at an unreadable scale on a normal narrow viewport. These layout issues should be fixed before merge.

GATE: HOLD @ 3ea0c68 (Tier 0/1, design docs). The port is faithful and the scorer is safe. One frame drops a live element, and one notes row describes a change from live as if it were current.

Checked

  • All 10 frames carry data-state. targets.json is unchanged against main, and measure_after.test.js passes 17 of 17.
  • The CSS block is byte-identical to e925c3d. The section differs only in the changes the PR states.
  • No class collides with a rule on main.
  • The copy is live's: the empty pod list, the board's column lines, the focus line, the board load error and the memory line. Retry and Page not found are marked as additions.
  • The redirect claim holds: V2App.tsx:455, inside V2RequireAuth.
  • The light and dark screenshots read in the d215 language.
  • The README is accurate.

Defects

  1. The empty-board frame at 1440 drops the Done fold. Live always renders v2-board__donecol (V2PodBoard.tsx:1085), and the picked #s-board frame draws it.
  2. "The tabs stay with a 0 count" (empty pods) is a change from live, which hides the segment when there are no pods. Mark it as new.

Non-blocking: .pub* CSS is dead once the agent-not-found frames are gone. "New pod" in the empty list is an added act, and the "none is added except Retry" note reads against it.

GATE: HOLD

…st marks what is new

From the gate: live always renders the Done fold, so the empty board frame
draws it at 0. The empty pod list's tabs and its New pod key are additions
to live, and the notes now say so. The unused .pub rules left from the
dropped agent-not-found frames are removed.

Scope the search height to the new frame.

This selector also matches the existing agent-memory 390 frame at Line 1453. It changes its search control from 34px to 44px and shifts the content below it, altering a scored design outside this block. Scope the rule to #s-empty. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Allow the phone frames to stack on narrow screens.

The inline grid overrides the existing one-column breakpoint. At a 390px page width, each frame shrinks to about 100px, making its contents difficult to read. Move the three-column rule into a class that permits the breakpoint override. Add a regression test at a narrow viewport. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Move the three-column grid rule from the inline style on the row2--even

GATE: PASS @ e7b9a11 (design docs, Tier 0/1). This re-gates the delta from 3ea0c68, which answers both defects from the HOLD and removes the dead CSS.

Checked

  • The delta touches docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html only: +4 / −11 lines.
  • Defect 1, fixed. The empty-board 1440 frame now draws the Done fold. It is a sibling col donecol after Blocked with a count of 0 (:1887), and it matches main's #s-board markup apart from the Show key. The table row (:1904) says the fold stays at 0. Live always renders it (V2PodBoard.tsx:1085).
  • Defect 2, fixed. The No pods yet row (:1903) marks the New pod key and the tabs as new, which is correct: live gates the segment on listablePods.length > 0. The lead note's exception (:1898) now names New pod on an empty pod list.
  • Dead CSS. The seven .pub* rules are gone, and no .pub selector is left.
  • Scorer. All 10 #s-empty frames carry data-state, targets.json is unchanged against main, and measure_after.test.js passes 17 of 17.
  • Visual. In the light and dark crops, the fold has the same treatment as #s-board and nothing is clipped.

Non-blocking. The fold leaves out the Show key at 0, but live renders v2-board__donecol-show at any count (V2PodBoard.tsx:1088).

@coderabbitai Both points were real. The first was the bigger one: the search-height rule also resized the agent-memory 390 frame.

@lilyshen0722 Thanks for the correction. The search-height leak was the higher-impact issue because it changed an existing agent-memory frame.

The fixes you report in #3423 address both causes: selector leakage and inline styles that prevented the one-column breakpoint from applying. The frame-geometry diff provides relevant layout evidence. The scorer tests do not verify layout.

I have not independently verified #3423. I accept your decision not to add a layout test harness for this change.

## Browser proof for layout and focus changes

Jest has no layout engine. For a layout change, capture the actual production
build at desktop and touch/mobile widths, including intermediate breakpoints
changed by the patch. In PR #1588, 1440px and 390px passed while 900px exposed a main
pane auto-placed into a sidebar grid track whose sidebar was not rendered.

…one row stacks on narrow screens (Team-Commonly#3423)

Team-Commonly#3422 brought the empty-state CSS over from Team-Commonly#3220 unscoped. One rule,
`.app.m .mbody2 > .search`, also matched the agent-memory 390 frame and
grew its search box from 34 to 44 px. Every rule in the block now starts
with #s-empty. The two three-phone rows used an inline grid that beat the
one-column breakpoint; they use a .row2--three class instead.
