feat(discord): /mode /status /mute /unmute /tldr /summary /help through the shared relay core (F133) - #3469
Discord gets Telegram's relay commands: /mode, /status, /mute, /unmute, /tldr, /summary and /help (D249, after #3456 inbound and #3465 outbound).
How
Transport: the existing signed interactions endpoint, POST /api/discord/interactions. It verifies Ed25519 first and answers PING. The new bridge commands are routed ahead of the legacy branch.
The shared core stays generic.chatRelayCore gains three pieces:
parseRelayCommand;
/mute units (30m, 2h);
an authority option on applyRelayCommand. When the caller may not change settings, writes are refused and reads still answer.
Telegram parses its commands through it, and its tests are unedited. Discord-specific logic lives in discordRelayCommandService.ts.
Authority. Only the row's creator can change the mode or mute: the interaction's user id must equal the proven config.discordUserId. /status, /help and /tldr are open to anyone.
Channel binding. A command acts only in the exact guild and channel its row is bound to.
Content./tldr posts the pod's latest summary, escaped, with @everyone defused, capped at 2000 characters, with allowed_mentions: { parse: [] }. /summary defers, then edits the original reply, as on Telegram. Settings replies, /status and /help are ephemeral.
Registration. One command list, config/discordApplicationCommands.json, feeds both the handler and the boot-time bulk PUT. The list also keeps the legacy commands.
Behaviour change on Telegram:/mute 2h now means 120 minutes. It used to mean 2.
Tests
Red: 25 of the 34 new tests failed on main.
Green: 35/35 new, 149/149 Telegram/Slack/core with no Telegram test edited, and 218/218 Discord route and service tests. tsc is clean.
Reverse checks:
removing the creator check fails 3 tests;
removing the channel binding from the query fails 2 tests.
Ops
Interactions endpoint: the application's Interactions Endpoint URL must point at /api/discord/interactions on the API host. Someone with portal access should confirm it.
Install link: it has asked for applications.commands since April, so only guilds that added the bot before then need to add it again.
Global commands: these can take up to an hour to show after the next deploy.
Known gaps, not changed here
The legacy /discord-enable and /discord-disable have no authority check.
The per-guild register route can duplicate the legacy commands.
…gh the shared relay core (F133)
Discord gets Telegram's relay commands through the existing signed
interactions endpoint (Ed25519 verified first, PING answered).
- chatRelayCore: parseRelayCommand, /mute units (30m, 2h), and an authority
option on applyRelayCommand; with mayChangeSettings false, writes refuse
and reads still answer. Telegram parses through it, tests unedited.
- Only the row's creator (the interaction's user id equals the proven
config.discordUserId) may change mode or mute; reads are open. A command
acts only in the exact guild and channel its row is bound to.
- /tldr posts the pod's latest summary escaped, @everyone defused, capped
at 2000, allowed_mentions empty; /summary defers then edits, as on
Telegram. Settings replies, /status and /help are ephemeral.
- One command list (config/discordApplicationCommands.json) feeds both the
handler and the boot-time bulk PUT, which keeps the legacy commands.

The PR adds Discord relay slash-command definitions, registration, interaction dispatch, and handlers for settings, status, summaries, and help. It centralizes relay-command parsing and authority checks for Discord and Telegram, adds mute-duration parsing, and includes tests and setup documentation.
The shared core parses supported commands, normalizes command names and /mode arguments, handles mute durations, and can refuse settings updates based on authority. Telegram now uses the shared parser.
The command configuration supplies the commands used for global deployment and health checks. The Discord route dispatches recognized commands. Tests cover deployment, invalid signatures, and PING handling. The documentation describes registration and interaction handling.
The service handles bound-channel settings, status, summary, and help commands. Settings updates require the caller’s Discord ID to match the integration’s recorded Discord user ID. Summary output is bounded and suppresses mentions. Tests cover command responses and updates; the documentation describes authority and channel binding.
Team-Commonly/commonly#3451: Provides the surface-binding authority contract used by Discord summary lookup.
Merge Risk: Low · up to a2619
Spaced Telegram mute durations can produce the wrong expiry, and the shared settings guard does not enforce authority for callers that omit it. Address these bounded issues or explicitly accept them before merging.

PASS. One review, by Opus. Each test file was run on its own: the three new files, plus Telegram, the core and the existing Discord suites, all green.
Signature first: Ed25519 over the raw body is checked before JSON.parse and before any new routing.
Authority: writes need the caller's signed user id to equal the row's discordUserId. A row with no discordUserId admits nobody. mayChangeSettings: false refuses any result that carries an update, including writes added later.
Binding: commands only touch rows that are active, of type discord, and match the exact guild and channel. There is no guild-wide fallback, and a DM finds no rows. /tldr reads only that row's own pod, under F143.
Content: every reply is fitted to 2000 characters, sent with allowed_mentions empty, and ephemeral by default. Only a successful /tldr is public, and it is escaped with mass mentions defused.
Telegram: the only change is mute units: 2h now means 120 minutes. A bare number still means minutes, and the fallbacks and the 24-hour cap are unchanged.
Registration: a static set of 12 commands goes out as an idempotent bulk PUT, and only when all three env vars are set.
Deferred /summary: it edits the original reply through the application webhook, and the interaction token is never logged.
Low findings, filed under F161, none blocking:
/summary and /tldr don't require status connected.
/summary has no per-user limit. This was already true before this PR.
The boot PUT has no timeout and always reports success. This was also already true.
Nits: Telegram's help text doesn't mention units; a rejected unit falls through to a bare number; there's no contexts: [0].
…kes only Discord-shaped ids (#3469)
CodeQL on 1a94f26:
- Polynomial regex on the /mute argument: the argument is trimmed and cut
to 16 characters, and the pattern has no adjacent optional whitespace.
A test feeds '0' plus 50,000 tabs.
- SSRF on the deferred /summary edit: the application id must be a
snowflake and the interaction token must match Discord's token shape,
both URI-encoded; otherwise nothing is sent. Tests cover a path-shaped id
and token (reverse-checked: both fail without the guard).

Use the linear-time duration pattern.
A Discord duration option can contain up to 6,000 characters. The adjacent \s* quantifiers can backtrack quadratically on an input such as "0" followed by thousands of tabs and "x". This can add tens of milliseconds of CPU work to one command. The same payload is not reachable through Telegram because its parser passes only the first whitespace-delimited argument.
The proposed pattern preserves the accepted duration forms. Trimming handles leading and trailing whitespace, and the grouped whitespace still allows a space between the number and its unit.

Require explicit settings authority in applyRelayCommand.
The Telegram group-member settings-write risk predates this PR. Do not attribute that existing behavior to the parser change. The new authority contract still fails open: an omitted authority permits a settings update, and both Telegram and Slack omit it.
Make the authority explicit. Place it before the defaulted now parameter. Pass false for shared Telegram and Slack surfaces. Reorder Discord’s existing authority argument.

/status reports an unconnected channel while the connector is paused.
findBoundRows excludes rows with config.adminPause. When no row remains, handleDiscordRelayCommand returns the "isn't connected to a Commonly pod" prompt for every command except /help, including /status. In a channel whose connector an administrator has paused, the channel is still bound. Only relay is stopped. The status reply should describe the paused state, not state that the channel is unconnected.
Keep paused rows out of settings writes. The status path can read paused rows without changing that guard.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Encode the interpolated URL path segments.
applicationId and interaction.token go into the webhook URL unencoded. The interaction body is Ed25519-signed, and the host is fixed to discord.com. Exploitation therefore needs Discord-signed data, so the risk is low. CodeQL still reports this request as server-side request forgery because the path depends on request data. A path-segment value containing / or .. would also change the target path.
Encode both segments. The URL stays identical for real ids and tokens, so the existing test expectation holds.

/mute 2 hours and /mute 2 h in Telegram still mute for 2 minutes.
Line 527 passes only args[0] to the parser. muteMinutesOf accepts spaced forms such as 30 min, 1 hour and 2 h, and its tests cover them. Telegram never delivers those forms. /mute 2 hours reaches the core as "2", which is 2 minutes. This is the same wrong result that this PR fixes for /mute 2h, but for spaced input.
Pass the full argument text for /mute. Keep args[0] for /mode.
Add a Telegram route test for /mute 2 hours that expects 120 minutes. The core tests do not exercise this call site.

Outside-diff Minor (telegram.ts:527): confirmed. Telegram passes only args[0], so /mute 2 hours still means 2 minutes. That's the same as before this PR, so it isn't a regression. The fix is follow-up F161: pass the whole argument text for /mute, plus a Telegram route test expecting 120 minutes.
Nitpick, adminPause test: valid. It's also on F161: a paused-row case where settings don't update and /tldr doesn't post.
Telegram /mute: The route confirms that parseTelegramRelayCommand receives only args[0]. Based on your baseline confirmation, this is an existing limitation, not a regression in this PR. F161 covers passing the full /mute argument text and testing that /mute 2 hours produces 120 minutes.
adminPause coverage: The test gap remains valid. F161 covers verifying that a paused row receives no settings updates and that /tldr posts nothing.
… row; /summary cooldown; mute reads its whole argument (F161) (Team-Commonly#3470)
* fix(discord): only the installer toggles sync; reads need a connected row; /summary cooldown; mute reads its whole argument (F161)
Follow-ups from the Team-Commonly#3465 and Team-Commonly#3469 reviews:
- /discord-enable and /discord-disable use the bridge commands' rule: the
caller's Discord id must equal the row's proven discordUserId. A legacy
row with no recorded id refuses everyone; adding the bot again records it.
- The per-guild register route registers nothing that is already global
(an empty bulk PUT also clears old duplicates).
- /tldr and /summary act only on a connected row; a settings write on a row
that isn't connected writes nothing and says so. /status still reports.
- /summary: one run per row per 60 s, claimed before the run.
- Boot-time command PUT: 10 s timeout, non-zero exit on failure; start.sh
keeps booting.
- /mute reads its whole argument on Telegram and Slack ("2 hours" = 120);
a unit that doesn't parse gets usage on all three platforms; a bare
number is still minutes.
- contexts: [0] on the bridge commands; a paused-row test.
- Connectors: a Discord row in error gets "Add the bot again" (en, zh-CN).

* fix(discord): re-adding the bot retires the dropped row; command deploy bounded; verify checks shape (Team-Commonly#3470)
CI and CodeRabbit on e111c85:
- The ReDoS mute input now expects usage, still parsed in under 50 ms.
- Each boot-time PUT attempt has a 15 s wall-clock AbortController covering
the response body, cleared in finally.
- A Discord bind on the same pod, guild and channel as one of the caller's
rows in error or disconnected retires that row as Remove would (grants
revoked, webhook deleted, row inactive); best effort, never fails the bind.
- The empty per-guild PUT runs only once the global bridge commands exist;
otherwise the guild keeps its commands and the reply names what's missing.
- Per-guild verify fails while the guild still holds commands; discord:verify
compares contexts and options, not only names; exit codes tested.

* fix(discord): the dropped-row lookup takes only shape-checked strings (Team-Commonly#3470)
CodeQL: the retire query was built from request values. Guild and channel
must be snowflakes and the pod an ObjectId string, all coerced to plain
strings, before the filter is built; anything else skips the retire.
