…ime trees (dmtrKovalenko#203) A numeric expression becomes SvgAttributeValue::Float(v, "") with an empty text, and usvgr reads font-weight as text, so font-weight={700} fell back to the inherited 400 without any diagnostic. Convert font-weight expressions to text in the macro, as dmtrKovalenko#182 did for ids.

Sure thing, better fix here: dmtrKovalenko/svgr#19. It turned out not to be just font-weight: a few other readers (text rotate, marker orient, some filter attributes) drop numbers set from code too, so I fixed them in usvgr where the number is read. Once that's released I'll update this PR to bump usvgr, drop the string conversion and keep the test.
usvgr 0.50.1 reads a font-weight number set from code, every number from 1 to 1000. Converted to text, the expression allocated a string on every frame.

The fixture loads only Regular and Medium faces. The current cases use 550.5, 650, and 700, which can all select Medium. The equality checks therefore do not detect a regression that maps every in-range numeric expression to Medium. Add a case such as 350, which should select Regular, and compare its expression with the equivalent literal.

This change draws a numeric
font-weight={expr}at its weight with svgr 0.50.1 and removes the text conversion insvgr-macro. usvgr 0.50.1 reads a number set from code for every attribute (dmtrKovalenko/svgr#19, dmtrKovalenko/svgr#21), so the expression stays a number and does not allocate a string on every frame. Tests check that numeric expressions render like literals in compile-time and runtime mode.Important
This PR contains #218 (svgr 0.50.1). Merge #218 first.

Fixes #203.
With
compile-time-svgtree,font-weight={expr}with a number was silently drawn at weight 400. A numeric expression becomesSvgAttributeValue::Float(v, ""), with an empty text, and usvgr'sresolve_font_weightreads the attribute as text, so it matched nothing and kept the inherited weight. Bothcargo fframes newtemplates usefont-weight={WEIGHT}with au16constant, so new projects hit this.Change
svgr-macro: forfont-weight(the one text-read attribute whose valid values are numbers), an expression is converted withToString::to_stringbefore it becomes an attribute value. This follows the pattern of fix(svgr): keep ids and references as strings in compile-time trees #182. Every other attribute and every literal is unchanged.fframes-test-utils:numeric_font_weight_expressionconverts the same text withfont-weight="700"and withfont-weight={weight}(au16) against a font database holding DM Sans, then asserts both trees are identical and carryfont-weight="700". The existing snapshot helper uses an empty font database, which drops text, so this test loads a font itself.Testing
cargo test -p fframes_test_utils numeric_font_weightfails: the numeric tree hasfont-weight="400".cargo test -p fframes_test_utils(compile-time, 16 passed) andcargo test -p fframes_test_utils --no-default-features(runtime, 11 passed) both pass.cargo clippy -p svgr-macro -p fframes_test_utils --tests -- -D warningsis clean.Left out
The issue also suggests making
SvgAttributeValueRef::as_strreturnNonefor aFloatwith an empty text, so the existing "requested a string type value" error fires for any other text-read attribute that gets a number. That change is in usvgr, so it isn't in this PR.Summary by CodeRabbit
