Core needs a verified build/pack path for its two inherited Studio npm distributions before publisher cutover. This adds a read-only workflow that publishes the existing net10 CustomElements host locally, packs WASM, builds the existing React wrapper against that exact verified archive, and proves both original tarballs in an offline consumer.

The consumer uses normal lifecycle scripts and unforced installs, checks all four ESM/CommonJS exports, and builds a small Vite app with every required asset byte. The wrapper resolves WASM relative to its installed package and copies assets into the consumer’s public directory while preserving workspace development. A package-specific ownership ledger preflights all paths, collisions and prior hashes before writes, preserves unmanaged files, and removes only unchanged previously owned stale assets. First-install collisions and consumer-modified owned files fail before mutation; serial refresh limitations are documented.

Source/version/integrity manifests, complete inventories, original tarballs and consumer inputs are retained; raw logs stay private.

Closes #8679. Refs #8194 and #8216.

Validation

Current head: 1d58bb1adcea05486ab2192cb21586be78410e19, tree 71f45e6474908cde8db8b1e6322c213da49d82bd.

  • Lead independently passed 23 normal + 23 optimized contracts under Node 22.23.3/npm 10.9.9, without skips; actionlint, JavaScript syntax and full-PR diff checks passed.
  • Actual tiny npm fixtures cover normal unforced offline lifecycle installation, workspace-local archive resolution, ownership/stale refresh, unmanaged preservation, preflight rejection with unchanged consumer snapshots, undeclared producer-only package exclusion, and missing-owned-parent replacement followed by an idempotent retry. WASM fixtures are synthetic.
  • Independent exact-head source review is APPROVE + HIGH. The lead verified the complete report, frozen source hashes and Git blobs. The latest two-file correction plans stale deletions during preflight, fixing the independently reproduced missing-parent partial refresh.
  • Exact-head hosted pair proof 37904888872 passed. Lead and independent Luna verified original artifact 11604251803, complete archive/source/pair inventories, the exact corrected lifecycle helper, all 1,050 ownership hashes and 67 unchanged third-party lock records. Bounded artifact review and limitations. Generated consumer directories were not retained for separate readback.
  • Greptile is 5/5 on this exact head and the corrected P1 thread is resolved. Remaining current-head CI and shared-target/main integration are pending; no task acceptance is claimed.
  • Earlier e63 hosted proof 37902404696 and original artifact readback passed their bounded checks but remain attributed to e63; they did not cover the subsequently reproduced defect. Its remaining pr, Packages and package-impact rehearsal runs are terminal CANCELLED and never count as passes.

This does not publish packages, activate publishers or maintenance refs, certify browser behavior, archive repositories, or implement a new React Studio. Product-selective release/version policy #8217, controlled publishers/recovery #8220 and the remaining maintenance/cutover gates remain required. No broad dependency upgrade was needed or adopted.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds a workflow and standalone program to build and verify paired Studio WASM and React npm archives from one Core commit without publishing. It also updates the React wrapper’s asset-copy lifecycle and adds contract tests and proof documentation.

Changes

Studio npm archive proof

Layer / File(s) Summary
Archive identity and validation
scripts/integration-program/prove_studio_npm_pair.py, scripts/integration-program/test_prove_studio_npm_pair.py, docs/integration-program/studio-npm-pair.md
The proof validates archive contents, manifests, exports, assets, source identity, and package pairing. It stages package metadata and local archive references. Tests cover valid and invalid archives and workspace staging.
Wrapper asset-copy lifecycle
studio/src/wrappers/wrappers/react-wrapper/package.json, studio/src/wrappers/wrappers/react-wrapper/scripts/copy-elsa-studio-wasm.js, scripts/integration-program/test_prove_studio_npm_pair.py, docs/integration-program/studio-npm-pair.md
The wrapper invokes and includes a Node script that copies WASM assets into the selected public directory and removes stale copies. The script validates ownership records and file targets. Tests cover nested installs, workspace use, and copy failures.
Build and offline consumer proof
scripts/integration-program/prove_studio_npm_pair.py, scripts/integration-program/test_prove_studio_npm_pair.py, docs/integration-program/studio-npm-pair.md
The program builds both archives and checks an offline consumer install, local lock entries, lifecycle asset copies, module exports, and Vite output. It records proof results and checks whether the source checkout changed. Tests cover the consumer checks and failure receipts.
Workflow execution and proof requirements
.github/workflows/studio-npm-pair.yml, docs/integration-program/studio-npm-pair.md
The workflow selects the expected commit, runs tests and the proof program, checks the checkout, and uploads proof artifacts. The documentation describes execution constraints, retained receipts, proof limits, and remaining acceptance checks.

Merge Risk

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 1d58b

An early proof failure still fails the workflow, but it leaves no retained failure receipt. Fix receipt creation before relying on the workflow’s failure artifacts.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 1d58b

Asset installation gains stronger protections against overwriting consumer files, and the verification workflow has no publishing authority. The main residual risk is interrupted asset refresh: files may require manual repair before an update can resume.

Retained concerns

  • Low · reliability · inferred: An interruption after asset writes begin but before ownership-ledger replacement can leave partially refreshed consumer assets recorded under old hashes. Subsequent refresh can reject those files as modified, blocking updates until manual reconciliation. Unlike the base's unconditional copy, repeating the lifecycle is not sufficient recovery in this state. This is a documented, consumer-local ownership and rollback limitation rather than a verified attacker exploit.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The concrete filesystem exposure is the invoking consumer's public asset tree under the npm caller's authority. The inspected workflow executes build and lifecycle code on its runner with read-only repository permissions rather than production or publisher authority.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Build subprocesses receive an explicit environment allowlist, isolated HOME and npm configuration/cache, and private command logs. The fixture verifies that repository tokens, npm tokens, and the Actions output handle are not inherited and that raw command output is excluded from the structured result.
  • inferred — Archive identity, inventory, integrity, and offline resolution checks constrain which bytes are consumed; they do not constitute a malicious-code sandbox. Normal npm lifecycle scripts remain enabled, and the inspected consumer flow establishes no operating-system network isolation.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Preflight protects consumer ownership before writes, but safe recovery after an interrupted write sequence is outside the established guarantee. The documentation explicitly requires reconciliation when necessary and limits the proof to package resolution and static assets, not browser startup or backend behavior.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — If unattended recovery becomes a requirement, add a journaled or staged refresh protocol with explicit recovery and writer serialization, then exercise interruption after asset replacement, stale deletion, and before ledger commit.

Explanation

#8679 requires a hosted exact-head proof of the real net10.0 CustomElements archives in an offline consumer. The workflow and proof script implement source, version, archive, dependency, lifecycle, asset, and receipt checks. The focused test suite uses synthetic assets and states that it does not replace the real hosted proof. The current PR description reports that exact-head hosted proof, original archive readback, required CI and Greptile checks, and merged-tree verification are still pending.

Resolution

Complete the exact-head workflow with the real net10.0 host and paired archives. Retain and independently read back both original tarballs and the bounded receipt. Complete the required CI and Greptile gates, shared-target/main integration, merged-tree verification, and the #8679 acceptance receipt.

Independent Elsa 3 source review: APPROVE + HIGH @ 697c607.

This is the lead’s relay of the independent Luna 6 Extra High review, not author self-approval or a formal submitted GitHub approval. The reviewer verified the exact clean head/tree, all six frozen hashes and all seven Task acceptance mappings, and found no remaining material source issue. The lead read the full report (SHA-256 c390752bb4f36813690cc6f06cd2efe0fc223cff95d053c49c3301bf997cf94b) and independently verified the frozen source and 19 normal + 19 optimized contracts, actionlint and diff checks. Lead QA receipt SHA-256: a3f128dd22365ae5bbfb04e2f2969bcf845f4dd7487c77fc73720c7b308c1cb7.

This permits the reviewed nonpublishing hosted proof to start. It does not accept real host/archive/consumer execution, required CI/Greptile or merged-tree gates; those remain pending. No package publication or operational cutover is authorized by this source review.

Original-artifact readback passed for exact source 697c607c6bf5b87c11850eb18cde6a6f21b6b17b, tree 837c2f761189df8f27471e07607f7c7771daf21c, run 37899837242, artifact 11602231150. Lead and independent Luna separately rehashed the 94,703,649-byte provider ZIP (6adb99e4311e21015762f4438243e49e48b3b780d8fd87c7b7fb6d31087bf1da), verified extraction equality, both original tarballs' complete inventories/embedded identities/exact paired integrity and reconstructed the staged producer lock. All 67 selected third-party consumer lock entries equal exact source records. Lead readback receipt SHA-256: e5ed4b116550fcdaffd64b888b6a0f7c1da7614d391463e126e3031e60918c59.

The successful hosted step and reviewed controller support normal offline lifecycle install, ESM/CommonJS exports, 1,050 copied asset files and the Vite consumer build. Generated consumer directories were not retained for a separate byte-level reread; this does not certify browser startup/backend behavior.

Review follow-up before merge: the lead agrees with CodeRabbit's asset-ownership concern. Recursive replacement of consumer public/_framework and public/_content can delete unmanaged files. A focused correction will preserve unmanaged assets, preflight collisions and remove only previously owned stale files, with actual npm lifecycle regressions. The exact-head proof above remains historical evidence for 697; the corrected head will require fresh review/contracts/hosted proof and CI. Task #8679 remains active and unaccepted. No packages were published.

Lead follow-up: an independent exact-697 Node 22 invocation of the packaged helper reproduced deletion of consumer-owned files inside both _framework and _content (synthetic WASM fixture, not real host/install proof). Receipt SHA-256: d8c23283c9f5395bbd8ad624fa932c3c6885a6e5a88a04355f3a2e4242bc3f9e. This head must not merge despite its Greptile 5/5 and completed CodeRabbit status. The remaining delivery-owned pr 37899840716 and Packages 37899837140 runs were normally cancelled to avoid redundant CI while the mandatory correction is prepared; terminal CANCELLED was verified. Integration tools, impact selector/rehearsal and paired artifact proof remain terminal SUCCESS at 697. Fresh corrected-head gates remain required.

RetriggerConfidence Score: 5/5

[Medium impact] No unresolved blocking findings remain in this review. Required current-head CI, hosted proof, and integration gates still need to pass before acceptance.

Summary

This PR adds a nonpublishing build-and-consume check for the paired Studio npm archives.

  • Operators can build and verify both Studio npm archives from one exact Core commit without publishing them.
  • The React wrapper copies WASM assets into the consuming app and tracks the files it owns.

Independent Elsa 3 source review: APPROVE + HIGH @ e63f1e6.

Lead relay of the independent Luna 6 Extra High review, not author self-approval or a formal submitted GitHub approval. The reviewer independently verified the exact clean head/tree and four frozen correction hashes, read the ownership/controller/test/runbook delta, confirmed unchanged original source/version/pair/offline contracts and independently passed all 22 contracts normally and optimized under Node 22. The lead read the full report (SHA-256 7ac26f91436ee00f7f62f15987f439d716606f3f183f3fd45646e8eb146de033) and separately passed 22 + 22 with no skips, actionlint, JS syntax and diff checks. Lead receipt SHA-256: 7e288ae0ddbd46e109cc5004c0df0c9aee419e81ec729d10d06500822d99a3c1.

The ownership correction preserves unmanaged consumer files and rejects collisions/modified owned files before writes. Only unchanged ledger-owned files can be replaced or removed as stale. The complete copy is serial, not a filesystem transaction or concurrent-writer guarantee.

This source approval permits fresh nonpublishing hosted proof. Parent-697 artifacts do not validate this changed head. Fresh producer/consumer proof, original artifact readback, required current-head CI/Greptile and merged-tree verification remain pending. No publication or task acceptance is claimed.

Fresh paired Studio artifact evidence is independently approved at e63f1e6, tree 2883e47d59efffca6d4f8b1d99f40afcb8837bd3.

Run 37902404696 is terminal SUCCESS. Lead and independent Luna separately verified original provider artifact 11602834846: 94,758,597-byte ZIP SHA-256 cd76e677e91c790a538a7789914751fde0ad918e7ce831e8819966a424a38b7e, exact extraction, both original tarball inventories/embedded identities/paired integrity, reconstructed producer lock and all 67 unchanged selected third-party source-lock records. WASM has 1,059 files and the wrapper 1,057. The ownership ledger covers all 1,050 WASM asset paths/hashes and matches the original wrapper's retained ledger digest 3ef7753bf9ca2e293c237898693265cf97e800c8b89caa270cb0a2716c9376c0.

The lead read the complete independent review (SHA-256 d9092b1b3cfe319afef9c8caf7e213f71a81cda0db78da5dab8588b07e416603) and compared it with separate lead readback receipt c0116a3f595e2d90e7b5d6f85d78e5a7cd64e33bd4f4dd141e9b8ea23ccffbe7. Original hosted receipt SHA-256: 4917d181f5d77f4c9a288457648a63e809eff68b938991344311b6ea6d34b65e.

The successful hosted step and reviewed controller support normal offline lifecycle install, owned-stale removal, unmanaged-file preservation, ESM/CommonJS exports and Vite output. Consumer generated directories were not retained for separate readback; this is package/static-asset proof, not browser/backend certification. Serial-refresh interruption/concurrent-writer limitations remain documented.

Required current-head CI/Greptile and actual shared-target/main integration are still pending. Task #8679 stays active and unaccepted; independent product releases #8217, maintenance admission #8683 and publisher/recovery/archival gates remain required. No package publication occurred.

Elsa 3 Code Review — independent review relay

APPROVE + HIGH @ 1d58bb1

Independent Luna 6 Extra High reviewed frozen tree 71f45e6474908cde8db8b1e6322c213da49d82bd and the complete two-file correction against parent e63. Stale cleanup now deletes only existing, unchanged, previously owned regular files identified during preflight. The new actual npm postinstall regression verifies old-parent rejection with an unchanged consumer, missing-parent replacement by a nested directory, unmanaged sibling preservation, updated ownership and an idempotent retry. No material source finding remains in this scope.

The reviewer reran 23 normal + 23 optimized contracts and syntax/diff checks. The lead separately passed 23 + 23 with no skips, actionlint, Node syntax and full-PR diff checks, and read the complete independent report plus verified frozen hashes/Git blobs. Independent report SHA-256: 318cef462d10200ba9df7ce0181c1a41c35d0889044797cf7bcdde35439076da. Lead receipt SHA-256: 357ded2b2e4ce1416abf2a037fe4afd3415d47a49fb4a72ecf63b220535be076.

This is source approval only, relayed by the lead, not author self-approval. Fresh exact-head hosted artifacts, required CI and Greptile 5/5 remain pending; e63 artifacts are historical evidence. No Task acceptance, publication or cutover is claimed.

Please review current head 1d58bb1. This focused correction plans stale deletions before writes and adds an actual npm regression for a missing old file becoming a new parent directory. The earlier e63 summary is historical; no current-head advisory review was pending when requested.

Create the retained receipt before admission checks.

When --commit "$EXPECTED_HEAD" differs from the checked-out HEAD, prove() raises ProofError('source-checkout') before it creates retained/ and before entering the try/finally block. The workflow then uploads an absent path and reports an artifact-upload failure instead of retaining the required closed failure receipt.

Move output initialization and receipt creation before admission checks, or wrap those checks in the failure-handling scope. Ensure the failure receipt is written under retained/ for every reachable admission failure.

Independent full-member inventory and embedded metadata checks passed, including the exact paired SHA-512 dependency and the corrected lifecycle helper matching its reviewed Git blob. The staged producer lock was independently reconstructed; all 67 surviving third-party consumer records equal the source producer lock. The ownership ledger and all 1,050 asset hashes match the original archives. Original receipt SHA-256: 15fc8dd89b2b9855e4356d583d81751e1d4d3e527e97aaa74f2703bca726791f.

The reviewed controller and successful provider receipt report real CustomElements net10 publish, paired packaging, unforced offline install with lifecycle scripts enabled, ESM/CommonJS exports, owned-stale removal, unmanaged preservation and Vite with 1,055 output files. Generated consumer node_modules/public/Vite directories were not retained for separate readback or independently re-executed here. No browser, production runtime or publication certification is claimed.

CodeRabbit's current-head LOW early-failure-receipt concern was reviewed separately by the lead and independent reviewer. At 1d58bb1, the actual CLI rejects an invalid proof version, mismatched source SHA, output inside the checkout and an existing output directory with exit 1 and closed JSON reasons. All four checks left output/source untouched; the existing-directory sentinel was preserved. Lead triage receipt SHA-256: a76b7e080f717dfb73958d0a1c6fda7298257383b56c761ebb620b51ac5a75fe.

The retained receipt boundary begins after admission. Pre-admission rejection produces no retained output; the workflow's always-upload can therefore report no files as an additional failure. We will not rely on a retained failure artifact for such a rejection or create/overwrite an unsafe output location merely to produce one. Runtime failure finalization after admission remains unchanged. This is a nonblocking diagnostic limitation, not a false success or a missing successful-proof receipt under #8679. Independent triage note SHA-256: 2d8fb29d9ec4a41d27584a65493d14541cd58e551b5d099da1c1d1ad5f83b394. Clarify “after admission” at the next relevant runbook edit; no new source change or proof cycle is required for this advisory. The already documented serial-refresh interruption/reconciliation limitation also remains. Required current-head CI and integration are still pending.

Final slice merge gate verified at 1d58bb1, tree 71f45e6474908cde8db8b1e6322c213da49d82bd, against unchanged program base 061ddf3.

All six current-head workflow runs are terminal SUCCESS. All 21 check entries are terminal: 14 SUCCESS and seven expected SKIPPED; skipped publication/conditional jobs are not positive execution evidence. Independent source APPROVE + HIGH, independent original-artifact approval, Greptile 5/5 and completed CodeRabbit coverage all name this exact head. No unresolved review thread remains. The lead's final source/contract/artifact gate check found no remaining high-priority issue; the documented serial-refresh and pre-admission diagnostic limits remain explicit. Gate receipt SHA-256 8253cf129642961a690cc2b83bd02c37b4e19222bf959bb494fc4e2d52908d56.

Proceeding with a normal merge into the shared program branch, without bypass. This does not accept #8679 yet: actual merge parents/tree, reviewed final-main integration and its current-head CI remain required. Broader maintenance, individual-product releases, publisher/recovery/cutover and later full 3.10 outcomes remain open. No publication or operational activation is authorized by this gate.
