fix(usage): price refused-then-served rows and keep client cancels unknown - #7233
vadymhimself wants to merge 3 commits into
Conversation
…known A non-combo retry row now aggregates its attempts, so a usage-less 429 before a measured send reads `unreported`. computeEntryCost already prices that row (the refusal is a known zero), but addEstimatedCost dropped it as unmetered with zero cost while the model breakdown counted it priced. A fully priced attempt row now counts priced regardless of its aggregate status. A 499 is the client hanging up on a send upstream may already be generating for; it no longer counts as a known zero. Review comments at @structure/dashboard-and-usage.md:
- Line 293: Update addEstimatedCost to classify requests using the same
attempt-level pricing distinction as the model and provider request-facts paths:
any potentially billed attempt without usage, including a measured send followed
by HTTP 499, must count as unpriced and not increment unmeteredRequests. Keep
requests composed only of known-zero attempts unmetered.
Review comments at @tests/usage/usage-partly-measured-cost.test.ts:
- Around line 48-52: Extend the test around computeEntryCost to aggregate the
measured attempt and usage-less 499 attempt, then assert the affected model’s
breakdown reports pricedRequests: 0 and unpricedRequests: 1. Use the existing
aggregation and breakdown APIs so the assertion detects regressions in 499
classification rather than relying on top-level addEstimatedCost fields.

A measured send plus a usage-less 499 aggregates to unreported, so the summary totals counted it unmetered while the model and provider breakdowns counted it unpriced. Any measured attempt now meters the row and the attempt-level pricing decides; rows of only known-zero refusals stay unmetered. Co-Authored-By: Claude Code <noreply@anthropic.com>

Being carried into #7236 with your authorship preserved; this PR will be closed when the bundle lands. |
successCostUsd passed the aggregate `unreported` status to estimateRequestCost, so a usage-less 429 before a measured send stayed unpriced in /api/routing-analytics while /api/usage priced it. It now reuses computeEntryCost, the same attempt-aware pricing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Code <noreply@anthropic.com>
#7230, #7231, #7232, #7233) (#7236) Carries four vadymhimself follow-ups onto dev: - #7230: the combo sibling check peeks the round-robin ring without advancing it, while the failed account's cooldown is still recorded. - #7231: a Codex account move after a 402 is recorded as quota recovery, separate from 429 rate recovery, through persistence, metrics, analytics and Logs labels. - #7232: the Anthropic server-tool input buffer is capped on the incoming fragment (4,096 code units), so one oversized fragment cannot exceed the bound. - #7233: refused-then-served usage rows are priced from the served attempt, and client cancels keep an unknown cost. A usage-less refusal never changes a row's pricing classification. A row with a leading refusal summarizes exactly like the same row without it, under dev's existing partial-cost contract. Landed on dev via #7236 in a02cecd, carried with Co-authored-by: Vadym O bolein95@gmail.com. That bundle is reviewed and validated (lidge full suite with 0 new failures, mini Windows focused 48/48, hosted CI green). #7233's pricing kept dev's existing partial-cost contract and pins refusal invariance. Details are on #7236. Thank you, @vadymhimself. Closing this one as superseded by that landing. |
Summary
unreported.addEstimatedCostthen counted it as unmetered with $0, whilecomputeEntryCostpriced it. A multi-attempt row whose cost is fully priced now counts as priced.structure/dashboard-and-usage.mdis updated (still within budget). Not covered: a usage-less 502/504 stays a known zero, because an attempt does not record whether the provider or the proxy produced it.Follow-up to the batch-2 bundle (#7224/#7225), which landed at a head from before this review finding was fixed on the source PR. The same commit was offered on the bundle.
