Offer the column headers that sort a table on a click listener - #1356
Table plugins (jQuery's tablesorter, used by the-internet.herokuapp.com/tables) sort when a header cell is clicked, through a listener added to the cell alone. There is no role, tabindex or pointer cursor. The page script that builds the observation cannot read listeners, so no header was offered and the table could not be sorted.
The DevTools protocol can read them (DOMDebugger.getEventListeners). Before the DOM build, parse_frames checks the main frame's first 50 column headers (th, role="columnheader") for a click, mousedown or mouseup listener of their own. It passes handles to the checked elements to buildDomNode.js, which offers them as clickables with a handler of their own. Table insertions, reordering, and replacement cannot transfer a listener hint to a different element. If navigation destroys those handles, the DOM retry discards them; the next observation probes the new document.
Listeners on the table around the headers (delegation) don't count.
Pages without a column header make one in-page check and open no protocol session.
Firefox, which has no CDP, is skipped.
Iframes are not checked.
Cost of the original index-based check, measured before the identity fix on a loaded machine: about 2 ms on pages without tables, about 5 ms (median) on a page with 10 headers.
New tests/browser/test_dom_header_click_listeners.py: headers with a click listener are offered and clicking one sorts the table. A header without a listener, and a header in a table with a delegated listener, are not offered. Fails on main (nothing offered).
Regression cases cover inserting, reordering, and replacing headers between the listener probe and the DOM build, plus navigation during that interval. The insertion regression reproduces the original wrong target (Inserted instead of Due).
No golden or characterization snapshot changes. Full offline suite passed before the last rebase on main; on this head, tests/browser, the golden and characterization suites, pre-commit and basedpyright pass.
Bench
The bench ran before the last rebase, on a local build of feat-session-act with the coverage tasks and all the observe fixes of this series merged (one build; each task below exercises one fix). Base is the same build without the fixes. Jev, 2 runs each, base and head back to back, concurrency 2, load average 28–40 on a shared machine.

New Features
Table column headers with click, mouse-down, or mouse-up listeners are recognized as interactive elements, enabling actions such as sorting.
Bug Fixes
Header interactions are more reliable after table changes or navigation. Temporary browser hints are cleaned up, and DOM evaluation can continue when listener inspection is unavailable or fails.
The parser checks up to 50 main-frame column headers for click, mousedown, or mouseup listeners. It passes matching element handles to DOM construction, where those headers can qualify as click actions. The implementation cleans up CDP resources and handles, and clears listener hints before retrying evaluation. Browser tests cover sorting actions, cloned headers, temporary marker cleanup, and table mutations.
Sortable headers can be silently omitted on the configured Patchright backend; align evaluation contexts before merging.

Table plugins add a click listener to each header cell, with no role, tabindex or pointer
cursor, which the page script that builds the observation cannot see. The DevTools
protocol lists an element's listeners: before the build, the main frame's column headers
(the first 50) are checked for a click listener of their own, and those are offered as
clickables. Pages without a column header skip the protocol session.

Fixed the CDP header-identity bridge in 7b51d61. It carries the inspected elements through a temporary non-enumerable main-world reference and element handles; it never adds cloneable DOM markers. The MutationObserver regression reproduced the false actionable clone before the fix. All six header cases passed on both Playwright and Patchright with handle collection, covering real sorting, insert/reorder/replace/navigation, and bridge cleanup. The initial header/driver suite also passed (10 tests); pinned hooks/type checks and Python 3.11 syntax passed. The finding is resolved. Main remains unchanged; current-head CI and refreshed reviews are pending.
Evaluate the DOM with Patchright in the main context.
headers_with_click_listeners() creates main-context element handles. _evaluate() passes those handles to Patchright's default isolated-context evaluation. Patchright can reject this handoff, then the retry clears listened_headers. The affected headers are therefore not marked clickable on the configured patchright backend.
Use a backend-aware helper. Preserve the current no-argument behavior used by the bridge.

Update _evaluate to create collected-element handles through
evaluate_handle_in_main_world so listened header handles are evaluated in
Patchright’s main context. Extend the helper to accept an optional argument
while preserving its existing no-argument behavior for bridge callers, and pass
the argument through to the backend’s evaluate_handle call.
test_a_cloned_bridge_marker_cannot_transfer_a_click_listener never runs its clone branch. The observer clones a header only after a data-notte-header-* attribute mutates. Nothing in the repository sets that attribute, so the test passes without checking cloned-header identity.
This is a coverage gap. This comment does not report a production failure, and the production code does not need a change for it.
Minimal correction: wrap parsing.headers_with_click_listeners the way test_listener_hints_keep_header_identity does. The wrapper calls the real probe, then sets a data-notte-header-* attribute on the returned headers before the DOM build. That mutation fires the observer. Then decide the expected actions for the detached handles. Keep the existing click and marker assertions. The current action assertion may need a different expected value after the clone.

@coderabbitai I checked the outside-diff main-context finding on current head 7b51d61 with the locked Patchright 1.64.1 backend.
A direct diagnostic obtains the two main-world ElementHandles from headers_with_click_listeners(), then calls Frame.evaluate(DOM_TREE_JS, args) and Frame.evaluate_handle(DOM_TREE_JS, args) using Patchright's default isolated context. This bypasses _evaluate and its exception/retry handling entirely. Both calls succeed on the first attempt and preserve exactly the Name and Due clickable headers. The collected-elements result also contains both handles.
The six real header sorting/mutation/navigation cases also passed on both Playwright and Patchright with handle collection enabled. Current-head CI passes. The cross-context adoption is working on the locked version, so this finding is not applicable and no DOM-evaluation context change is needed.
