test(engine): compare export answers with Windows paths escaped as JSON - #1439
Fixes the red CI on main (run 41889956954, commit 98e6155): tests::exports_run_on_another_thread fails on Test (windows-latest) and Test (windows-11-arm).
Cause. The test, added in #1433, checks that an export written on another thread answers like one written on the main thread. It removes each answer's path before comparing: v.to_string().replace(path, "PATH"). In the JSON text a Windows path's backslashes are escaped (C:\\Users\\…), so the raw path C:\Users\… never matches. The answers then still differ by file name: there_countries.geojson against here_countries.geojson. Linux paths have no backslashes, so only Windows fails.
Fix. Replace the path as JSON spells it, i.e. json!(path).to_string() without its quotes. The comparison stays exact on every platform; library behaviour is unchanged.
Evidence. The test passes locally on Linux. This PR has the ci:windows label so the Windows jobs that failed on main run here. The previous Windows failure on main (geolibre_local_source_kinds_and_archives, fixed by #1436) now passes there.

Tests
Updated an export test to compare normalized path values, improving consistency when paths contain escaped characters.
exports_run_on_another_thread (#1433) failed on Windows x64 and ARM64:
it replaced the export path in the answer's JSON text, where a Windows
path's backslashes are escaped, so the path never matched and the
answers still differed by file name. Replace the path as JSON spells
it.
opengeos/RustGIS#1433: Adds the export comparison test that this change adjusts to handle JSON-escaped paths.

The test fix is mergeable after normal checks. A backslash-path assertion would improve regression coverage on Linux.

A rabbit checks each path with care, JSON escapes hop through the air. The test now finds the encoded trail, While production code stays hale. One neat comparison, clear and right, Then off I bound into the night.
Scope: one file, crates/engine/src/tests.rs (+5/−1). The change is in the test helper unpathed inside exports_run_on_another_thread. No production code changes. There were no earlier review threads, so nothing was skipped as already raised.
Bugs
None found. The fix is correct for the stated cause. share.rs echoes the raw path parameter into the answer with no canonicalization, and serde_json's Value Display escapes backslashes. The helper now replaces the path in the same escaped form, so Windows answers match. Confidence: high (from reading; I could not run the tests, since this session has no shell).
Security
None.
Performance
None. Test-only, and the extra json! call is negligible.
Quality
tests.rs:27261 (nit, low confidence): trim_matches('"') would also strip a quote the path itself ends with, leaving a stray \. No test path does this. Posted inline with a &escaped[1..escaped.len() - 1] suggestion. It can wait for the release quality pass.
AGENTS.md
No violations. The change is test-only, so the never-crash, never-silent, wasm and i18n rules do not apply.
Not verified
The Windows fix itself is unverified here. Whether Test (windows-latest) and windows-11-arm pass depends on the ci:windows run the PR describes, which I cannot see.
Change size
Compared: the whole PR against main (merge base 98e6155 to PR head 3116c10).
The paths in this test come from the temp directory. On Linux they contain no backslashes or quotes, so the escaped form equals the raw path. The unpathed helper then matches a raw-path replacement, and Linux pull request CI cannot detect a regression to that behavior. Windows CI runs only with the ci:windows label, on pushes to main, and in the nightly run. Without the label, the regression is caught only after merge.
Move unpathed above the loop and add an assertion that uses a path with backslashes. This exercises the escape handling on every platform.
