Plugin: Riesgos Chile (riesgos-chile 0.1.0), DanielD-S/rustgis-riesgos-chile, release v0.1.0. It's a WebAssembly plugin with the permissions edit and network, and minRustgisVersion 0.5.0. This PR adds registry/riesgos-chile.json and nothing else.

What it does: Chile's natural hazards as 18 one-click layers, in a ribbon tab of their own. Each layer is a command and gets its style when it's added.

  • Earthquakes: from the USGS FDSN event service, inside the box from 17° to 57° S and 65° to 80° W. M2.5+ for the last 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days; M4.5+ for the last 12 months. Each point is sized by magnitude.
  • Tsunami: from SENAPRED (Visor Chile Preparado, ArcGIS Online). Areas to evacuate, evacuation routes, meeting points, the safe line and the 2026 30 m contour.
  • Volcanoes: from SENAPRED. Active volcanoes coloured by hazard category, volcanic hazard areas (high, medium, low), and evacuation areas, routes and meeting points.
  • Wildfires:
    • VIIRS hotspots for the last 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days, from NASA FIRMS through Esri's Living Atlas. They are requested inside a 60-vertex outline of Chile, built from the INE's Census 2024 regions, so the request's address stays under ArcGIS Online's 2,048-character limit.
    • Wildfire recurrence 2020–2024, from SENAPRED.
  • Large layers are read in the map view: tsunami evacuation routes and volcanic hazard areas at 1:2,000,000 or closer; wildfire recurrence at 1:500,000 or closer. Each service returns at most 2,000 features per request, and a layer that comes back cut short says so.
  • Empty periods: a period with no earthquakes or hotspots adds nothing and says so.
  • Spanish: the interface has a full i18n.es translation.

How I tested it:

  • python scripts/build.py --check downloads the release and verifies its hash.
  • python scripts/smoke.py (rustgis-cli 0.5.0, Windows) passed with 0 failures.
    • The network commands failed in that run with a local DNS error (os error 11003), and the smoke test allows those failures.
    • The three layers read in the map view refused the sample's world view, as they should.
    • Run on their own right after, from the released package, volcanoes added 104 features, quakes-month 51 and hotspots-week 1,220.
  • Every layer ran in rustgis-cli 0.5.0. Some results:
    • 354 tsunami areas, 1,544 meeting points and 523 safe-line features.
    • 425 evacuation routes over Valparaíso at 1:500,000.
    • 350 volcanic hazard areas at 1:2,000,000.
    • 1,272 recurrence features at 1:500,000.
    • The styles (classes by category, size by magnitude) were checked in the saved project.
  • The plugin repository's CI runs cargo fmt --check, cargo test --locked (6 tests: the manifest and the catalog agree, Spanish covers the interface, the request addresses, the styles) and packaging. Its weekly Services workflow asks each of the 18 services for one feature and opens an issue when one stops answering; all 18 answered.
  • Not yet tried in the RustGIS desktop window.

Checklist:

  • The entry's source.url is a release asset of the plugin's repository, and sha256 is that file's.
  • The plugin asks only for the permissions it uses.

Bugs

  • None found. The entry has id, source.url, sha256 and categories. The id matches the package manifest (riesgos-chile). Confidence: high.

Security

  • The plugin is sandboxed WebAssembly. Its imports are only rustgis.call and rustgis.result, and its exports are memory, rustgis_alloc and rustgis_call. Confidence: high.
  • It requests edit and network. edit fits adding layers and styling them. network fits the fetches from USGS and ArcGIS Online. It does not request files. Confidence: high.
  • The URLs in the module point at USGS (earthquake.usgs.gov) and ArcGIS Online (services5.arcgis.com for SENAPRED, services9.arcgis.com for NASA FIRMS/VIIRS). They match the description. Confidence: high.
  • layer.remove appears in the module's strings. A hazard-layer plugin has no stated need to delete layers. It is most likely used to clean up a layer that came back empty or truncated, but I couldn't confirm that from the compiled code. A maintainer may want to glance at module.wat or the source to check it only removes layers the plugin itself added. Confidence: low.

Performance

  • Nothing to flag. The large layers are limited to the map view, and the PR says layers cut short by the 2,000-feature limit report it.

Quality

  • The PR touches only registry/riesgos-chile.json, so it follows the repository's scope.
  • The author says the plugin has not been tried in the RustGIS desktop window, and that the network commands failed with a DNS error in the smoke run. They did run each layer separately in rustgis-cli. Confidence: medium that this is fine.
  • Homepage and source: homepage leads to github.com/DanielD-S/rustgis-riesgos-chile, and the release asset URL is in the same repository. Source is reachable.

CLAUDE.md

  • No guideline violations found for a registry-only change.

Plugin packages

Assessment of riesgos-chile:

  • The commands (layer.addUrl, layer.classStyle, layer.color, layer.symbology, host.view, host.notify) fit a plugin that adds styled hazard layers and reads the map view.
  • The one command to check is layer.remove, as noted under Security.
  • The package was inspected without problems. The hash was verified by the trusted step, and module.wat was not cut off.
  • The module is compiled, so its code could not be read here.
