What this PR does / why we need it:

Adds an in-cluster mirror registry fixture for e2e v2 tests (test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/). This is the shared infrastructure for the OCPSTRAT-3316 image-mirroring tests (CNTRLPLANE-3922/3923/3924). It is test infrastructure only and contains no image-resolution code, and it does not change the v2 lifecycle, cluster specs or test plans.

Setup does the following:

  1. Deploys registry (TLS, PVC) in an owned namespace.
  2. Copies images through the internal Service with an in-cluster oc Job, preserving digests.
  3. Switches the registry to read-only.
  4. Only after that, exposes it through a passthrough Route.

It returns the CA bundle, the mirrored refs, and []hyperv1.ImageContentSource. Callers decide where to run it: from a lifecycle hook before cluster creation, or from a test. Wiring the fixture into the v2 lifecycle is tracked in #10029 (CNTRLPLANE-3927), pending the decision on how the image-mirroring lane fits the TestPlan (Slack thread).

Commits:

  • Fixture API skeleton, option validation, TLS materials, resource builders, Job-based copier, setup/teardown orchestration, persisted CA.
  • Adds the package to the other shard of the GitHub Actions unit-test workflow (which does not otherwise cover test/e2e/v2/).

Design decisions

Context

CNTRLPLANE-3926 provides the in-cluster mirror
registry shared by the OCPSTRAT-3316 epics: CNTRLPLANE-3922 (imageContentSources → hosted cluster IDMS),
CNTRLPLANE-3923 (--registry-overrides) and CNTRLPLANE-3924 (management-cluster IDMS).
It is test infrastructure (a fixture), not image-resolution code.

D1 — Location and shape

  • Package test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/, no build tag, no Ginkgo/Gomega imports. Its unit tests
therefore run in the standard make test (go test ./..., Prow unit), and the package is callable from
Ginkgo tests, from lifecycle hooks and from any future CI step. The package is added to the other
shard of the GitHub Actions unit-test workflow, which otherwise does not cover test/e2e/v2/.
  • Not placed in support/imageresolution/ (enhancement CNTRLPLANE-3314: Unified image resolution for HyperShift enhancements#1981): that package is for
production resolution. The fixture must not import the production resolvers/providers
    (support/releaseinfo, support/imageregistry, support/globalconfig) so that the OCPSTRAT-3877
refactor can change them without touching the fixture, and so the tests never compute their
expectations with the code under test.
  • The fixture only provisions and reports. It never asserts fallback policy (OCPBUGS-128661): that belongs
    in the consuming tests.
  • Resources are reconciled with support/upsert (the repository's create-or-update pattern).

D2 — Exposure: Route with TLS passthrough, explicit host

  • registry serves TLS itself on port 5000; a passthrough Route exposes it.
  • The Route host is set explicitly to <name>-<namespace>.<ingress domain> (ingress domain read from
ingresses.config.openshift.io/cluster). This makes the hostname known before any resource exists, so the
serving certificate (and, in the future, a CA distributed earlier in the pipeline) can be prepared in
    advance.
  • Rationale: in CI (and on our dev setup) the management cluster is a nested hosted cluster whose ingress
certificate is signed by an internal root-ca, so reusing the ingress certificate gives no trust
advantage, and hosted-cluster nodes cannot reach the in-cluster Service.

Network assumptions and boundaries

  • Hosted-cluster endpoint access does not matter. --endpoint-access (Public / PublicAndPrivate /
Private) only changes how control-plane endpoints are exposed. Nodes pull from the mirror through the worker
VPC outbound path, which hypershift create infra aws builds identically in all three modes (private
subnets + NAT). The manual validation used exactly that path. No OCPSTRAT-3316 issue asks for topology
    coverage.
  • Workers need outbound access to the management-cluster ingress (NAT, internet gateway or cluster proxy;
with a proxy, the mirror host must not be in noProxy). A fully disconnected VPC cannot reach the Route.
  • The management-cluster ingress must be external. If it were internal (e.g. a Private management cluster
with an NLB), hosted-cluster VPCs could not reach it. Setup fails early in that case: it probes the public endpoint
from the test process, which runs outside the management cluster.
  • OpenShift management cluster only. The fixture uses a Route, ingresses.config.openshift.io, and relies on
the restricted-v2 SCC to assign a non-root UID (the registry image has no USER). The caller supplies the
copier image (the wiring in CNTRLPLANE-3927: add e2e v2 test for imageContentSources propagation to IDMS and ignition #10029 reads it from the openshift/cli ImageStream). This covers every current consumer, including the v2
Azure self-managed suite (OpenShift management cluster). AKS-based management clusters (ARO HCP, other
managed services) are not supported. Supporting them is additive and does not change the public API:
optional LoadBalancer exposure (Service selecting only the read-only pod, to keep D4), IP SANs, an explicit
pod runAsUser/fsGroup off OpenShift, and a caller-chosen copier image.

D3 — TLS: helper CA by default, caller-supplied CA supported

  • Default: the helper generates a CA and signs a serving certificate whose SANs are the Route host, the
Service DNS names, and optional extra names (e.g. *.apps.<domain>).
  • The CA (cert + key) is stored in a Secret <name>-ca in the fixture namespace and reused by later Setup
calls, so trust already distributed to consumers (additionalTrustBundle) survives re-runs. The namespace is
ephemeral and owned by the fixture; the key never leaves the management cluster except through the caller.
  • A caller can pass an existing CA (cert + key). This is the hook for CNTRLPLANE-3923/3924: there, the
management cluster's own nodes must trust the mirror, and their trust comes from the parent hosted
cluster created before the mirror exists, so the CA must be generated earlier in the CI pipeline.
  • Consumers receive the CA bundle and pass it to HostedCluster.spec.additionalTrustBundle
(hypershift create cluster --additional-trust-bundle). Creating the hosted cluster with it from the
start avoids a NodePool rollout. No --insecure-registry anywhere.

D4 — No authentication; push only internally; read-only before exposure

  • registry htpasswd auth is all-or-nothing (no anonymous read with authenticated write), and adding
credentials would require merging them into the hosted cluster pull secret and (for 3923/3924) the
management cluster pull secret owned by the parent cluster.
  • Instead: images are copied through the internal Service while the registry is writable; the registry is
then restarted with storage.maintenance.readonly.enabled=true; only then is the Route created.
Invariant: the Route exists only while the registry is read-only. A repeated Setup first deletes the Route
and waits until public routing is withdrawn before re-enabling writes.
The public endpoint is anonymous and read-only and never accepts pushes.
  • Residual risk: mirrored content is anonymously readable for the lifetime of the job at an unguessable
per-job hostname on an ephemeral cluster. Reviewers may ask for htpasswd; it can be added later
without changing the public API (new optional field).

D5 — Copy: in-cluster Job running oc

  • Copying runs as a Kubernetes Job in the registry namespace, using an image that contains oc
(configurable; default chosen during the smoke test). It talks to the registry through the internal
Service, trusting the CA, and reads sources with a caller-supplied pull secret (in presubmit CI the
release under test lives in registry.build*.ci.openshift.org, which needs credentials).
  • Avoids depending on oc/skopeo being present in the hypershift-tests image and keeps traffic
in-cluster. The copier sits behind an ImageCopier interface so unit tests use a fake.
  • Digests must be preserved: manifest lists are kept, no --filter-by-os. IDMS only redirects
by-digest pulls, so consumers reference images by digest.
  • Single images: oc image mirror. Full release payloads (needed by CNTRLPLANE-3931, two releases):
    oc adm release mirror.

D6 — Mirror layout and image-content-source mapping

  • Mirror repository for a source repository <reg>/<path> is <host>/<reg>/<path> (source registry
host kept as first path component → no collisions between registries).
  • The fixture returns []hyperv1.ImageContentSource (the exact type used by
hypershift create cluster --image-content-sources), one entry per source repository.
  • A mapping can declare a virtual source repository that does not exist upstream (e.g.
    mirror-source.hypershift-e2e.invalid/...). A pod referencing <virtual repo>@<digest> can only start
if the node pulled from the mirror — endpoint-specific evidence for CNTRLPLANE-3928 without blocking
    quay.io or parsing registry logs.

D7 — Storage

  • Always a PersistentVolumeClaim (size configurable, default 20Gi, default StorageClass). Deployment uses
    the Recreate strategy (RWO volume).
  • No emptyDir option: the registry reads its configuration only at startup, so the read-only switch (D4)
restarts the pod, and an emptyDir would lose everything that was just copied.
  • The registry is configured with a mounted config.yml (ConfigMap); a config hash annotation on the pod
template rolls the pod when read-only is toggled.
  • Sizing for two full payloads (CNTRLPLANE-3931) is decided in that story; the fixture just exposes the
    knob.

D8 — Registry image

  • Configurable; default quay.io/libpod/registry:2.8.2 pinned by manifest-list digest (non-Docker-Hub
location, avoids rate limits in CI). Verified under the restricted-v2 SCC (random UID) on a nested
    management cluster.

D9 — CI integration (not in this PR)

  • The fixture is callable both from PlatformConfig.PreCreate (before any hosted cluster exists, so the HC can be
created with --additional-trust-bundle / --image-content-sources and no NodePool rollout) and from a test
    (day-2 configuration).
  • Which one to use, and whether the image-mirroring variant belongs in the default AWS TestPlan or in a dedicated
job, is being decided in the Slack thread. The wiring lives in CNTRLPLANE-3927: add e2e v2 test for imageContentSources propagation to IDMS and ignition #10029 until then.
  • Teardown: in CI the nested management cluster is destroyed with the job; Teardown (delete the owned
namespace) exists for local runs and is idempotent.

Out of scope for this PR (tracked elsewhere)

Validation

  • Verification report (test plan, per-scenario evidence, reproduction kit, independent evidence review): rendered report, source in CNTRLPLANE-3926: Add test plan and verification report hypershift-community/test-results-verification#6.
  • Unit tests (no cluster needed) for options, TLS, resource builders, the copier (fake clients), and Setup/Teardown orchestration (including the read-only-before-Route invariant and CA reuse/rotation). make pre-commit passes locally, except for TestNewDestroyCommand in cmd/cluster/{agent,kubevirt}. That test is not touched by this PR and passes when KUBECONFIG does not point at a live cluster.
  • Live fixture validation on a nested OpenShift management cluster:
    • Default CA: Setup ~45 s. Anonymous /v2/ returns 200 with the CA, and TLS is refused without it. Digests are preserved for both a real and a virtual source repository. A push through the Route is rejected with 405. Re-running Setup is idempotent (it goes through another write/read-only cycle and content survives on the PVC), and Teardown can be run twice.
    • Caller-supplied CA: the CA is reused, and CA rotation works. A watcher saw no point where the Route existed while the registry was writable.
  • Hosted-node reachability:

Manually validated on a dedicated AWS HostedCluster (OCP 4.20.0, 2 workers, RHCOS 9.6 / CRI-O 1.33) created with hypershift create cluster aws --additional-trust-bundle <fixture CA> --image-content-sources <fixture ICS>, using the outputs of a fresh fixture Setup (46 s). The HostedCluster carried the CA ConfigMap and both ICS entries. In the hosted cluster, the IDMS, openshift-config/user-ca-bundle, the node trust anchor and a digest-only registries.conf mirror entry were all present, and curl https://<mirror>/v2/ from a node with system trust returned {} 200. A pod referencing mirror-source.hypershift-e2e.invalid/libpod/registry@sha256:e642e860… with imagePullPolicy: Always pulled in 807 ms and ran. The mirror logged CRI-O (cri-o/1.33.4) anonymous GET requests for that repository → 200. Negative control: the same repository by tag failed with no such host, and the mirror logged no tag lookup. Recreating the pod on the same node produced new manifest requests (4→8). Cleanup: HostedCluster, AWS infrastructure and fixture namespace removed, no leftovers.

Fixes CNTRLPLANE-3926

Special notes for your reviewer:

  • The design trade-offs are listed above (D1–D9). The ones most likely to be challenged are no authentication (D4) and OpenShift-management-only support (D2).
  • This PR originally also wired the fixture into create-guests behind HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING. Following review (comment), that wiring moved to CNTRLPLANE-3927: add e2e v2 test for imageContentSources propagation to IDMS and ignition #10029 so this PR does not depend on the TestPlan decision. The manual validation above used the fixture outputs directly, so it is unaffected.
  • The Unit Tests (other) GitHub Actions job on this PR does not run the new package yet: test.yaml calls test-reusable.yaml@main, so the new shard entry takes effect after merge. Local -race runs at the PR head are attached to the verification report (automated tests page).
  • Known follow-up for CNTRLPLANE-3929: hypershift destroy leaves the CLI-created user-ca-bundle ConfigMap in the HostedCluster namespace.

In response to this:

What this PR does / why we need it:

Adds an in-cluster mirror registry fixture for e2e v2 tests (test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/) and wires it into the v2 lifecycle as an opt-in AWS image-mirroring cluster variant. This is the shared infrastructure for the OCPSTRAT-3316 image-mirroring tests (CNTRLPLANE-3922/3923/3924). It is test infrastructure only and contains no image-resolution code.

When HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING=true, create-guests runs Setup in PreCreate and writes mirror-registry-ca.pem, mirror-registry-ics.yaml and mirror-registry.json to SHARED_DIR. The image-mirroring variant passes the first two files to --additional-trust-bundle and --image-content-sources. Existing jobs and the default AWS plan are unchanged.

  • Lifecycle wiring.
  • Adds the package to the other shard of the GitHub Actions unit-test workflow (which does not otherwise cover test/e2e/v2/).

D9 — CI integration (v2 lifecycle)

  • The existing PlatformConfig.PreCreate hook in create-guests (already used for Keycloak on Azure)
deploys the registry before any hosted cluster is created and writes to SHARED_DIR:
CA bundle, imageContentSources YAML, and a small JSON with endpoint and mirrored image refs.
  • A dedicated AWS cluster variant (image-mirroring) is added only when the mirroring lane is enabled
(opt-in env var set by the new job from CNTRLPLANE-3929). Its extra args point at the files above
(--additional-trust-bundle, --image-content-sources). Existing jobs and the default AWS plan are
    unaffected.
  • Teardown: in CI the nested management cluster is destroyed with the job; Teardown (delete the owned
namespace) exists for local runs and is idempotent.

Out of scope for this PR (tracked elsewhere)

  • Making management-cluster nodes trust the mirror (CNTRLPLANE-3923/3924): needs an openshift/release change
to create the nested management cluster with the CA. This PR only provides the caller-supplied-CA hook.
  • --registry-overrides HO installation wiring (3930/3931), test assertions (3927/3928/3932/3933), Prow job
    (3929).

Validation

  • Unit tests (no cluster needed) for options, TLS, resource builders, the copier (fake clients), Setup/Teardown orchestration (including the read-only-before-Route invariant and CA reuse/rotation), and the lifecycle wiring and SHARED_DIR outputs. make pre-commit passes locally, except for TestNewDestroyCommand in cmd/cluster/{agent,kubevirt}. • PreCreate provisions the mirror whenever HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING is enabled, because the hook does not receive the plan's filtered cluster specs. Enable it only together with a TEST_PLAN that selects image-mirroring. The Prow job comes in CNTRLPLANE-3929, so the first end-to-end run through create-guests will happen there. The manual validation used the same Setup outputs, and unit tests cover the file contents.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds a mirror-registry fixture for e2e v2 tests. It creates TLS-enabled Kubernetes registry resources, copies requested images through a Kubernetes Job, and returns mirror configuration and image data. AWS e2e lifecycle setup can enable mirroring through an environment variable. When enabled, it sets up the registry, adds an image-mirroring cluster variant, and writes the generated artifacts.

This change only adds e2e test infrastructure, and it is off by default. When image mirroring is enabled, every run uses the same fixed registry namespace and Route, and nothing removes them afterward. Concurrent runs on one management cluster can disrupt each other, and leftover resources can accumulate. Address this before the Prow job is turned on.

Description Check Passed Check skipped - CodeRabbit’s high-level summary is enabled.

Full details: Stable And Deterministic Test Names

Explanation

The changed tests use Go's testing package, not Ginkgo. No added It, Describe, Context, or When DSL calls exist. Table-driven t.Run(tt.name) and t.Run(test.name) titles come from static source literals. The inspected titles contain no runtime pod, node, namespace, IP, UUID, timestamp, or generated identifier.

Full details: Test Structure And Quality

Explanation

The pull request adds only standard Go tests using testing.T; it adds no Ginkgo Describe, It, BeforeEach, AfterEach, Eventually, or Consistently blocks. The changed tests use fake clients and local fixtures, so the Ginkgo-specific setup, cleanup, timeout, and assertion-message requirements do not apply.

Full details: Topology-Aware Scheduling Compatibility

Explanation

No topology-incompatible scheduling constraint is introduced. The new registry Deployment uses one fixed replica with Recreate strategy (resources.go:152-155) and has no affinity, topology spread, node selector/affinity, toleration, or PDB. The copier Job also has no such constraints (copier.go:163-193). The lifecycle changes only add an opt-in cluster variant and fixture setup; they do not derive replicas from node counts or target control-plane/worker nodes.

Full details: Ipv6 And Disconnected Network Test Compatibility

Explanation

The pull request adds Go testing.T unit tests and lifecycle helpers, not new Ginkgo e2e tests. No changed test uses Ginkgo constructs, hardcoded IPv4 network addresses, or live external network calls. Public registry references are test data and fixture image configuration, not connections made by the unit tests.

Full details: No-Weak-Crypto

Explanation

The pull request adds no MD5, SHA-1, DES, 3DES, RC4, Blowfish, or ECB usage. It uses SHA-256 for identifiers and configuration hashes, and standard RSA/X.509/TLS APIs for certificate material. The byte comparisons validate certificate fixtures or CA replacement state; they do not compare secrets or tokens.

Full details: Container-Privileges

Explanation

No introduced privilege violation found. The new registry Deployment (test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/resources.go:161-197) and copier Job (test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/copier.go:167-184) set runAsNonRoot: true, use RuntimeDefault seccomp, set allowPrivilegeEscalation: false, and drop all capabilities. The changed code does not set privileged, hostPID, hostNetwork, hostIPC, or SYS_ADMIN, and it does not configure containers to run as root.

Full details: No-Sensitive-Data-In-Logs

Explanation

The PR adds raw error logging in test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/copier.go:251: klog.FromContext(ctx).Error(err, ...). err comes from Kubernetes Get/List calls and transient network errors, which can include management-cluster URLs or internal hostnames. The new mirror setup also returns raw endpoint and Job termination errors; create-guests logs the wrapped pre-create error, so internal route or service details can reach CI logs.

Resolution

Do not pass raw Kubernetes or network errors to klog. Log only a fixed message with safe operation/resource identifiers. Sanitize errors returned from mirror setup before they reach create-guests; omit URLs, internal hostnames, raw termination output, and any credential-related details. Preserve detailed diagnostics only in restricted artifacts with appropriate redaction.

@coderabbitai About the No-Sensitive-Data-In-Logs pre-merge check (test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/copier.go:251 and errors returned from mirror setup): we are keeping the current behavior, because we consider this a false positive:

  • The logged and returned errors come from Kubernetes API/network calls against a disposable nested test management cluster. At most they contain that cluster's API URL; they never contain tokens or credentials.
  • The copy Job termination message is either our own CopyResult JSON or, on failure, the tail of oc output. The source pull secret is passed only as a file path (-a /run/copy/.dockerconfigjson), is never printed, and is nil in this lane.
  • The registry Route and Service hostnames are intentionally published (written to SHARED_DIR for the hosted cluster's --image-content-sources).
  • Replacing the errors with fixed messages would remove the detail needed to debug CI failures, especially for network errors, which have no API reason.

@Nirshal, thanks for the clarification. I agree that this finding is a false positive for this test lane, and I withdraw it.

The inspected code supports your explanation:

  • copyReadError logs API/network errors, not Secret contents.
  • The copy script passes the pull secret through a mounted file path. It does not enable shell tracing.
  • The AWS image-mirroring lane uses public images without a source pull secret.
  • Registry hostnames are intentional test artifacts, not credentials.

Keeping the error detail is appropriate for CI debugging. No code change is needed for this finding.

Need to understand the motivation here, as it breaks the declarative design of ClusterSpecs we're trying to work towards. Is the intent to enable this from a new job, i.e. not enabled by default in the e2e-v2-{platform} jobs? Once the use case for what jobs expect to execute this is clear it might be easier to think through how to solve it without making variants "dynamic"

Thanks, agreed. Gating the variant on an env var goes against the direction of 25c7049 / CNTRLPLANE-3999. It also duplicates the selection TEST_PLAN already does. The env var was our own design choice, not something the stories asked for. We had to document "set HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING only together with a plan that selects image-mirroring", and that caveat was the warning sign.

Intent: yes, a new job. CNTRLPLANE-3929 defines an optional e2e-aws-mirroring presubmit with its own TEST_PLAN and skip_if_only_changed on the image-resolution paths. The follow-up stories for --registry-overrides and management-cluster IDMS (CNTRLPLANE-3923/3924) need a different HO installation and a management cluster that trusts the mirror CA. So they can't live in the default e2e-v2-aws job anyway. The hosted-cluster IDMS case (imageContentSources, CNTRLPLANE-3922) could technically run in the default job, if you'd rather have it there. The cost is one extra cluster plus ~2 min of registry setup before cluster creation.

The variant was conditional for one reason only: the mirror setup in PreCreate costs time, and PreCreate doesn't know which variants the plan selected. My proposal:

  • Declare image-mirroring unconditionally in ClusterSpecs. Its args only point at fixed SHARED_DIR paths. Keep it out of the default TestMatrix.
  • Drop HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING.
  • Run the mirror setup only when the selected plan includes the variant. I see two ways to do that:
    • (a) pass the selected specs/variants to PreCreate;
    • (b) add a declarative field on ClusterSpec, e.g. Fixtures: ["mirror-registry"], which create-guests resolves into setups before creating clusters. I lean towards (b): it keeps the decision in the spec data, so it still works when specs are loaded from JSON.

A side benefit of (b): it could make the Keycloak deployment conditional too (external-oidc declaring Fixtures: ["keycloak"]). Today Keycloak is deployed in PreCreate on every AWS/Azure run, even when the plan doesn't select external-oidc. I'd keep that as a follow-up to keep this PR focused, unless you prefer it here.

Do you prefer one of these, or do you have another pattern in mind? I'll also rebase onto the clusterArgs change, which the current variant doesn't use yet.

Following up on the Slack thread: to keep this PR independent of the open decision on how the image-mirroring lane fits the TestPlan, I've narrowed it to the fixture only.

  • Dropped the lifecycle wiring commit: HYPERSHIFT_E2E_IMAGE_MIRRORING, the conditional image-mirroring variant, the PreCreate setup and the SHARED_DIR outputs. This PR no longer touches ClusterSpecs, the default TestPlan or create-guests.
  • What remains is test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry/ plus the unit-test shard entry. That is the scope of CNTRLPLANE-3926 (a Go helper with setup/teardown that returns the endpoint, CA and ImageContentSource entries), and every option discussed needs it, whether it is called from PreCreate or from the test itself.
  • The wiring moved to CNTRLPLANE-3927: add e2e v2 test for imageContentSources propagation to IDMS and ignition #10029 (CNTRLPLANE-3927, whose acceptance criteria cover creating the HC through create-guests). It is kept there as a provisional placeholder, rebased on clusterArgs, and will be reworked once we agree on an option.
  • Rebased on current main.

what's the point of adding test fixtures not referenced by any test? Seems like committing dead code

for guest IDMS testing, adding a new variant is fine but making it a day 2 change on an existing variant may also be fine, depending on the performance (e.g. how long does it take to for the day 2 change, rollouts, and rollback?). Either works, it's just a choice about cost / resource effectiveness

for management-cluster IDMS, it sounds like we're talking about an entirely new job since it requires a new management cluster? which seems separate from and unrelated to this PR. Correct?

Image-mirroring e2e tests need a disposable mirror registry that hosted
cluster nodes can reach over TLS. Define the public API of a new
test/e2e/v2/util/mirrorregistry package before implementing it, so the
shape can be reviewed and the implementation can land in small steps.

The package has no build tag and no Ginkgo dependency, so it can be used
from specs, lifecycle hooks and standalone tools, and its unit tests run
with make test. It does not import production image-resolution code.

Options, MirrorRequest and Result describe inputs and outputs, including
image content sources for HostedCluster.spec.imageContentSources and the
CA bundle for spec.additionalTrustBundle. ImageCopier abstracts the copy
step. New, Setup and Teardown return errNotImplemented for now.

Closing in favour of #10029, per review: the fixture should land in the PR that actually exercises it (Slack thread).

#10029 contains all commits of this PR unchanged, plus:

  • a static image-mirroring variant (1 node) in the default AWS TestPlan, whose PreCreate always runs the fixture;
  • the IDMS / ignition ConfigMap test, which skips itself when the HostedCluster has no imageContentSources or the fixture Route is absent.

The fixture design (D1–D9) and its validation moved to the #10029 description. Thanks @ironcladlou for the review!
