Summary

  • Disable orphan_file and metadata_csum_seed when formatting new single-device and RAID0 ext4 filesystems.
  • Preserve the existing DACS filesystem labels and RAID naming.
  • Document compatibility with Ubuntu 22.04 filesystem tools. Existing incompatible filesystems are not reformatted or repaired by this change.

Validation

  • Bash syntax, ShellCheck, Helm lint, chart packaging, rendered compatibility options, and whitespace checks passed.
  • Created two disposable, file-backed filesystems with e2fsprogs 1.47.0 and checked them successfully with e2fsck 1.46.5. No host block devices were used.
  • Offline disclosure and secret scans found no findings in changed files.
  • Live node reboot behavior was not tested.

This change is independent of the optional bundled-prerequisite (#137) and standalone-Cache (#138) changes, apart from overlapping prerequisite documentation.

Disable newer ext4 features for freshly formatted NVMe devices and RAID arrays while preserving existing filesystem labels and data.
