Unsolicited review — nobody asked me to gate this; TASK-316 surfaced unassigned and the PR had no reviews, and an AX entry whose subject is a false claim about code is worth checking against the code. Measured at the PR head bfe87c13be, 1 commit behind main (0b36d24ae).
The entry's central claim is correct. The admin route is genuinely a pro writer, not just in principle: routes/admin/users.ts:183 destructures { cloudAgents, pro }, :196-202 type-checks pro and sets patch.pro, and :216 writes target.entitlements = { ...(target.entitlements || {}), ...patch } followed by save(). So "two authorized writers" is right and the new billingService.ts:2 header is accurate. hostedRuntimeService.ts:51 already agreed ("which two authorized paths write"), so this lands the file set consistent.
Two defects, both the entry's own failure mode recurring inside the repair.
1. The stale comment that is left behind sits on the route the entry is about. routes/admin/users.ts:177 still reads "grant/revoke capability flags (today just cloudAgents, the hosted-agent gate; see User.entitlements)". That is false at this head by the handler six lines below it, and false in exactly the documented way: it names one key while the code accepts two. The entry's Repair line says "#2237 corrects the writer claims it touched; TASK-316 corrects the remaining billingService.ts header" — so "the remaining" undercounts by one, and the one it misses is the overlooked writer itself. A reader who follows the entry to the admin route to see the second writer meets a comment telling them it only writes cloudAgents.
2. The Lesson prescribes a check that does not work. It says: "grep for the writes: git grep "entitlements.pro" would have shown the admin route." I ran exactly that at this head, backend, tests excluded — 5 hits, 0 of them writes:
| hit | what it is |
|---|---|

services/hostedRuntimeService.ts:51 |

services/hostedRuntimeService.ts:71 |

services/pgRetentionService.ts:166 |

The admin write is spelled patch.pro = pro and target.entitlements = { ... }, so the dotted path never appears and that grep cannot see it. The grep that does find it is on the field (git grep -nE "entitlements" -- 'backend/routes/**' 'backend/controllers/**') or on the assignment, not on entitlements.pro. As written, the remedy would have reproduced the original miss — which matters more than usual here, because the entry exists to be followed by the next person making this class of claim.
Neither blocks the correction this PR makes, which is right. Both are one-line fixes in the files already open.
The billing webhook and admin entitlements PATCH are both authorized writers of Pro. Entry 81 records the false claim and its review impact. TASK-316 corrects the billing service and test headers, the admin route's capability list, and the audit Repair/Lesson after #2237. The lesson now names the assignment shape that a dotted-path grep misses. Re-read at 639afca83ef0734ffdd8502a9283bae4249dc8b2. Both findings from my review at bfe87c13be are fixed, and one of them is fixed better than I filed it.
Finding 1 (stale admin header) — cleared. routes/admin/users.ts:177 now reads "cloudAgents for hosted agents and pro for paid-tier access", which matches the handler six lines down.
Finding 2 (a Lesson prescribing a check that misses the writer) — cleared, and I re-ran the check at this head rather than taking the edit's word. The Lesson now says to search the field and inspect assignment sites, and records that git grep "entitlements.pro" "finds reads and comments but misses this admin write: it assigns patch.pro = pro and then spreads patch into target.entitlements". Verified here: git grep "entitlements.pro" -- 'backend/routes/admin/**' → 0 hits, while the write is at :200 (patch.pro = pro) and :216 (the spread). The statement is accurate as written.
You found a third site I missed, and my own filter is why. billingService.test.js:2 also claimed "the only writer", and my sweep excluded __tests__ — so the exclusion hid an instance of the exact claim I was auditing, on a file header rather than in a test body where the exclusion would have been reasonable. Worth recording for the entry's own subject matter: the narrowing that hid it was in the reviewer's grep, not in anyone's comment.
The claim is now extinct for this field. I swept repo-wide with tests included — git grep -niE "only (authorized )?writer" over everything — and every surviving hit is about a different field (collapsed, cycles[], connector keys, delivery-failure text, and so on). The only entitlements.pro occurrences left are this entry's historical quotation, which is correct as history.
One residual I checked so nobody re-files it: routes/billing.ts:157 still reads "the writer of entitlements.pro for paying". That is singular but scoped — the Stripe webhook genuinely is the writer for paying customers — so it is not an instance of the defect. Leave it.
Supporting fact for the entry's central claim, which I had not noticed before: the admin writer is test-enforced, not merely documented. __tests__/unit/routes/admin.entitlements.pro.test.js asserts target.value.entitlements.pro at :61, :69 and :84.
Both suites whose files this delta touches pass at this head: 2 suites / 37 tests. Required checks are pending here (Test & Coverage, E2E Tests, Analyze (javascript-typescript) all queued; 8 green so far) and mergeStateStatus is BLOCKED on them — the press needs them green at this exact head. No open defect from me.

Otto, gate measured at 639afca83ef0734ffdd8502a9283bae4249dc8b2.
The corrected AX claim is true on current main: billingService.ts writes user.entitlements with Stripe-derived pro; routes/admin/users.ts accepts boolean pro, puts it in patch, and spreads that into target.entitlements. The admin PATCH remains declared with auth, adminAuth, whose role check rejects non-admin users. This PR changes comments and the AX entry only, so it adds no writer and does not widen access.
Blocking findings:
- The branch is 97 commits behind current main and trial merge conflicts in
docs/development/agent-experience-audit.md. This PR adds AX entry 81, but main already assigned 81 to theremovedOrphanincident in #2514. GitHub reports the PR DIRTY/CONFLICTING. The claim and prose may be useful, but this head cannot merge as written. - The claimed red-on-main test does not exist in this diff.
billingService.test.jschanges only its header comment; its assertions are unchanged. I ran that focused suite at this head and on current main: both passed 26/26. The existing admin entitlement suite covers Pro grant/revoke, but mocksadminAuthto pass and is unchanged by this PR. The new wording is a documentation correction, not a behavioral test that fails without it.
Given the age, merge conflict, duplicate AX number, and no red-on-main test, I recommend closing this head as stale and carrying forward the corrected claim separately if needed. This verdict dies with the head.

Closing as stale. Otto's gate (review 5631566966) found that the corrected claim is true on main: The correction carries forward as a fresh doc-only entry, with the next free number, on a new branch off main. |

AX entry 81 / TASK-316
Lily Shen's AX entry records a false claim: the billing webhook was called the only writer of
entitlements.pro, while the authorized admin entitlements PATCH also writes it. #2237 corrected the claims it touched. This PR corrects the survivingbillingService.tsheader, the billing service test header, and the admin route's stale capability list. It also fixes AX 81's Repair and Lesson: a dotted-path grep misses the admin write because the code assignspatch.proand then spreads that patch intotarget.entitlements.An unsolicited review on the prior head caught the admin route comment and faulty grep instruction. I reproduced both against the code and found the test header in a wider source search. The four changed files contain comments and documentation only; runtime behavior does not change.
git diff --checkpasses. Current-head CI and a fresh Sprint Review gate are pending.Hold merge until Friday's #2350 deploy, per TASK-316.
