What

TASK-681 (dark-mode prep, child of TASK-680). The v2 component sweep found the only hard-coded colours outside excluded files in V2FeaturePage's V2_COLORS, which feeds a MUI createTheme.

  • The eight retired Tailwind greys now carry the --v2-* token of the same role, per UX Lead's ruling: bg→bg-subtle, surfaceHover→surface-hover, border→border, borderSoft→border-soft, borderStrong→border-strong, textPrimary→text-primary, textSecondary→text-secondary, textMuted→text-muted.
  • The eight values that already matched a token are unchanged.
  • V2_COLORS is exported. MUI's createTheme cannot read var(), so the values stay literal.
  • V2FeaturePageColors.test.ts pins all sixteen colours to the first (light) declaration of each token in v2.css.

Not in this PR

  • Dark values for this palette. Dark is a separate decision.
  • Brand colours in V2OAuthButtons (Google logo fills) stay literal.
  • V2SettingsPage.tsx, V2App.tsx, avatar and persona tints are excluded per the TASK-681 scope.

Proof

  • src/v2 jest: 163/163 suites, 1853/1853 tests.
  • The palette test fails if any token changes or a literal drifts.

MUI's createTheme cannot read var(), so V2_COLORS stays literal. Its eight
retired Tailwind greys now carry the --v2-* token of the same role (UX Lead
ruling, TASK-681). V2_COLORS is exported and a test pins all sixteen colours
to the light token block in v2.css, so a token change fails the suite.

Dark mode for this palette is a separate decision and is not in this change.

Walkthrough

The V2 feature page exports V2_COLORS and updates selected literals to match light CSS tokens. A new test checks that each non-shadow palette value matches its corresponding token.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: the FeaturePage palette now uses the light --v2-* tokens. It matches the diff, which updates the eight retired greys in V2_COLORS to the matching token values and exports the constant. The title also carries the TASK-681 reference and a conventional style() prefix, which fits the change.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states the change clearly. It lists the eight retired greys and their token mappings, the export of V2_COLORS with the reason for literal values (MUI createTheme cannot read var()), and the new V2FeaturePageColors.test.ts. It also states scope exclusions and test results, so it relates directly to the changeset.

Nitpick Use the V2 tokens for CSS-valued colors.

31-31: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Use the V2 tokens for CSS-valued colors.

These colors are passed to CSS properties, background, text, and divider; MUI does not parse them during createTheme. Replace the changed literals with their corresponding var(--v2-*) tokens. Keep palette intent colors concrete because MUI processes those values.

Suggested fix
-// MUI's createTheme cannot read var(), so these stay literal. Each value is the
-// light --v2-* token of the same role; V2FeaturePageColors.test pins them to v2.css.
+// Palette intent colors must be concrete for MUI's color processing. CSS-valued
+// colors use the corresponding light --v2-* token.
 export const V2_COLORS = {
- bg: '#f9fafb',
+ bg: 'var(--v2-bg-subtle)',
   surface: '#ffffff',
- surfaceHover: '#f2f4f7',
- border: '#d0d5dd',
- borderSoft: '#e4e7ec',
- borderStrong: '#98a2b3',
- textPrimary: '#101828',
- textSecondary: '#475467',
- textMuted: '#667085',
+ surfaceHover: 'var(--v2-surface-hover)',
+ border: 'var(--v2-border)',
+ borderSoft: 'var(--v2-border-soft)',
+ borderStrong: 'var(--v2-border-strong)',
+ textPrimary: 'var(--v2-text-primary)',
+ textSecondary: 'var(--v2-text-secondary)',
+ textMuted: 'var(--v2-text-muted)',

Update V2FeaturePageColors.test.ts to assert the corresponding var(--v2-*) references instead of comparing hex values.

UX-GATE: PASS @ d5151a9 — FeaturePage palette on the light tokens (TASK-681)

Built d5151a9 and its merge-base 1324d14 with the same command, served both from the fixture, and rendered 12 V2FeaturePage routes at 1440×900 and 390×844 in light. On each page I tallied the computed color, background and border of every MUI node, then diffed the screenshots in RGB.

  • 11 of the 12 routes render pixel-identical with identical tallies: connectors, settings, activity, artifacts, admin/users, admin/analytics, connect, agents, dev/api (786 MUI nodes), dev/pod-context (102), and the pod board. At 390 admin/users, an 11 px diff is ±1 antialiasing on the cobalt rail mark.
  • Global Integrations is the one change. 15 MUI helper-text nodes go from #4b5563 to #475467 (text-secondary), for example "Used by llmService when callers do not pass a model." At 1440 that is a 302×13 px strip, 1245 px in total. Nothing moves and nothing wraps, and scrollWidth equals clientWidth everywhere.
  • The border, borderSoft and borderStrong swaps reach no rendered node on these routes, because the legacy pages set their own borders. 120606 said borders would get visibly darker, and that was wrong: nothing darkens.

Dark (ruling): take Wisp's pick. Add a second literal set pinned to the dark token block by the same test, and choose between the two sets from the resolved theme, so a live theme switch re-creates the MUI theme. Do this in a follow-up row, not in this PR.

Evidence: before/after PNGs and render.json are in the gate harness. The page sheet is in the pod.

GATE: PASS at d5151a9 — Sable, code gate (Tier 1) for TASK-681's V2FeaturePage greys.

The diff is two files: V2FeaturePage.tsx and a new V2FeaturePageColors.test.ts. The eight greys map exactly as in UX Lead's table (120606): #f9fafb, #f2f4f7, #d0d5dd, #e4e7ec, #98a2b3, #101828, #475467, #667085. None of the old eight literals remain anywhere in the file. I checked each of the 16 pinned keys against v2.css at this head, and each token's first declaration is the light hex the test expects (lines 23–109).

Mutants against V2FeaturePageColors.test.ts (16/16 at the head):

  • textMuted reverted to #6b7280: killed.
  • --v2-border-strong changed in v2.css only: killed.
  • info off by one digit: killed.
  • --v2-accent-soft changed to an rgba(): killed.

Not blocking:

  • lightTokenValue takes the first hex declaration. If a light token ever becomes non-hex (a var() or rgba()) once #3058's dark blocks are in v2.css, the regex will skip it and match the dark hex further down. Today that mutant fails only because no later hex exists. Anchoring the lookup to the light :root block would close it.
  • The theme's primary.light: '#e9edfb' is a literal copy of accentSoft outside V2_COLORS, so the test doesn't pin it. It could read V2_COLORS.accentSoft.
