Supersedes #3075 (swift's slice 1), carried onto current main. TASK-700 covers the motion tokens and the D215 motion moments.

What this slice does

  • Motion tokens: --v2-dur-fast 120ms, --v2-dur 200ms, --v2-dur-slow 320ms, one ease curve.
  • One global prefers-reduced-motion rule ends every v2 animation and transition.
  • Theme switch crossfades through View Transitions where supported; browsers without the API switch at once.
  • Inactive fold animates its height on open and close, and stays inert while it closes.

Not in this slice

Claim glide, message enter, Show more height, skeleton fade. Each comes as its own slice on this row.
The drawer slide is TASK-699 and is not on main yet.

Checks

  • V2InactiveFold.test.tsx and theme.test.ts: 12/12 pass.
  • Browser check and screen recording at 1440 and 390, light and dark, on the seeded staging pod via dev:live: pending for this PR.

… height (TASK-700)

Carries swift's slice 1 from #3075 onto main. Tokens are the --v2-dur set
plus one ease; one global prefers-reduced-motion rule ends every v2
animation and transition. The theme switch crossfades through View
Transitions where supported. The inactive fold animates its height on
open and close, and stays inert while it closes.

Walkthrough

The V2 interface adds shared motion tokens, theme view transitions, reduced-motion rules, and animated inactive-fold closing. Inactive-fold rows remain mounted and inert until the closing animation ends.

Changes: V2 motion behavior

Layer / File(s) Summary
Motion tokens and transition rules
frontend/src/v2/utils/theme.ts, frontend/src/v2/utils/__tests__/theme.test.ts, frontend/src/v2/v2.css
Theme changes use the view-transition API when available and reduced motion is not requested. CSS adds shared motion tokens, transition rules, fold animations, and reduced-motion settings. Tests cover theme transition conditions and CSS motion rules.
Inactive-fold closing lifecycle
frontend/src/v2/components/V2InactiveFold.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2InactiveFold.test.tsx
The fold body remains mounted with a closing class and inert attribute until its animation ends. The test checks the collapsed toggle, mounted body, and animation-end event.

Add presence assertions for the fold close animation CSS.

V2InactiveFold.test.tsx runs in jsdom, which does not load v2.css. The test therefore passes even if the v2-fold-open and v2-fold-close keyframes or the clipping rules are removed. Its animationEnd dispatch only exercises the React cleanup path.

The fold's close motion depends on .v2-connectors__inactive-fold-body > .v2-connectors__inactive-rows { min-height: 0; overflow: hidden; }, which clips the rows as the grid row collapses. Add presence assertions to frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts for:

  • @keyframes v2-fold-close and @keyframes v2-fold-open.
  • The .v2-connectors__inactive-fold-body--closing rule that switches animation-name to v2-fold-close.
  • The min-height: 0 and overflow: hidden declarations on .v2-connectors__inactive-fold-body > .v2-connectors__inactive-rows.

Add CSS presence assertions to the v2 layout invariants test; the animationEnd
dispatch in V2InactiveFold.test.tsx only tests React cleanup and does not verify
styles in jsdom. Assert that v2-fold-open and v2-fold-close keyframes, the
closing rule’s animation-name, and the inactive-rows min-height and overflow
declarations are present.

Self-review at 773061a (TASK-700 slice 1, taken over from Flint).

Read the diff: motion tokens on :root, the view-transition theme crossfade guarded by reduced motion, the fold open/close via grid-template-rows on V2InactiveFold, and the global reduced-motion block. I found no blocking issue. Checked: the fold keeps inert while it closes, and the closing class unmounts the body only after the animation ends. The 287 frontend tests pass locally, including layout invariants.

Not done: the still shots at 1440 and 390, light and dark. This seat has no running build with the seeded staging pod, so I have not captured them. This review is not a PASS until those are on the PR.

Stills for the motion slice (773061a), taken on dev:live against staging, the D215 sample pod, signed in as the seed seat:

  • 1440 light and dark, 390 light and dark, all four posted to the pod (D215 sample) with the file names pod-1440-light.png, pod-1440-dark.png, pod-390-light.png, pod-390-dark.png.
  • The page renders at all four sizes and themes. A dev-only Vite error overlay from a missing @openuidev module in this worktree's node_modules was removed before each capture, so it doesn't show in the stills. It doesn't reach the motion code.

Reduced-motion and the fold height were not checked in this pass.

Superseded by #3259, which rebuilt the motion work as one PR on current main (merged as 2cb8249).
