feat(v2): motion tokens, theme crossfade, and fold open height (TASK-700) - #3075
One global reduced-motion rule: under prefers-reduced-motion: reduce, every .v2-root animation and transition ends at once, and the theme crossfade is off.
Theme switch crossfades through document.startViewTransition when the browser has it and reduced motion is off. Otherwise it switches at once (utils/theme.ts).
Connector fold opens by height: the rows grow their grid row from 0fr to 1fr (V2InactiveFold.tsx, v2.css). Close is still instant.
Pods drawer uses the duration token. It is unchanged in direction.
What is not in this slice
Drawer from the right: the only drawer on main is the pods drawer, which slides from the left. The right-hand detail drawer is TASK-699, which is not on main.
Claim glide and lease pulse: needs a board FLIP. Not started.
New-message enter: needs a live-arrival signal in the thread. Not started.
Show more height: the prose fold is a max-height class toggle, which can't be transitioned without measuring. Not started.
Skeleton fade to content: not started.
Recording: no screen recording yet. Motion needs one before this PR is ready.
Verification
theme.test.ts 10/10: the crossfade runs when the API exists, is skipped under reduced motion and without the API, and the motion tokens and global rule are present in v2.css.
v2-layout-invariants and the connector tests: 273/273.
Not run: the full frontend suite, the 390 and 1440 browser check.
…700)
Tokens on :root: --v2-dur-fast 120ms, --v2-dur 200ms, --v2-dur-slow 320ms, one ease
curve. One global prefers-reduced-motion rule ends every v2 animation and transition and
turns off the theme crossfade. The theme switch crossfades through
document.startViewTransition when the browser has it and reduced motion is off. A
connector fold grows its grid row from 0fr to 1fr on open. The pods drawer's slide uses
the duration token.

Walkthrough
V2 adds shared motion styles, animates inactive-fold opening and closing, and uses document view transitions for theme changes when supported and when reduced motion is not requested.
Changes: V2 motion and theme transitions

Summary
Motion tokens and animated components frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/v2/components/V2InactiveFold.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2InactiveFold.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/utils/__tests__/theme.test.ts
V2 defines shared motion tokens and uses them for the mobile pods drawer, root view transitions, and inactive-fold opening and closing. The inactive-fold body stays mounted and inert during closing until its animation ends. Reduced-motion preferences shorten V2 animations and transitions. Tests cover the closing behavior and motion styles.
setV2Theme uses the document view-transition API when available and reduced motion is not requested. Tests cover transition, reduced-motion, and fallback behavior.
Team-Commonly/commonly#2486: Uses the shared V2InactiveFold for inactive tool and grant rows, which receive the updated closing behavior.
Team-Commonly/commonly#2504: Routes inactive grants and connections through the shared fold, whose lifecycle changes in this PR.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 7d801
The motion behavior is implemented, but several animation regressions remain unprotected by tests. This is a low merge risk with targeted follow-up recommended.

Override the legacy card transition under reduced motion.
The existing .v2-feature__legacy .MuiCard-root rule at Line 5554 sets an !important transition with higher specificity. Its 120ms hover transform therefore still runs under reduced motion. Add a matching override and test the reduced-motion result.
Based on learnings: animations and transitions must honor prefers-reduced-motion.

Add a reduced-motion override matching the specificity of `.v2-feature__legacy

Add the required fold layout test.
The existing fold invariant test covers the toggle, not this grid child’s min-height or overflow. Add a scoped presence test in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts and check the fold in a real browser at 390px and 1440px. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
As per path instructions: “Load-bearing layout CSS (overflow, scroll containment, flex sizing) needs a presence test.” Based on learnings: “v2 layout/CSS changes need a real-browser check.”

Reduced motion now applies to * so portaled dialogs are covered. Folds animate closed as well as open: the body stays mounted and inert until the close animation ends.

Test reopening during the close animation.

Test reopening during the close animation.
Add a test that opens, closes, and reopens the fold before animationEnd. Assert that the body remains mounted and is no longer inert. The current test does not exercise this branch.
As per coding guidelines: “New code path ≠ test: flag it.”

Assert both pseudo-element selectors.
87-87: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Assert both pseudo-element selectors.
This assertion still passes if either *::before or *::after is removed. Add checks for both selectors so the test protects reduced motion for pseudo-element animations.
As per path instructions: “A test that would still pass with the fix reverted is not a test.”

Update the reduced-motion assertion on v2css to verify that both *::before and

Test the closing animation.
13638-13638: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Test the closing animation.
The fold test fires animationEnd manually. It still passes if this rule is removed, which makes closing use the opening animation. Add a test for the closing animation name and keyframes.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/v2.css at line 13638:
Update the fold animation test to verify that closing uses the v2-fold-close
animation and its keyframes, rather than relying only on a manually fired
animationEnd event. Ensure the test fails if the v2-fold-close animation-name
declaration is removed.

The frontend TypeScript gate rejected the jest.fn passed as
document.startViewTransition (TS2322). Cast the mock at the assignment;
the assertions are unchanged.
