TASK-732 fix-forward after Lily's prod frame-diff (0.72). The page skipped the D215 shell for any viewer who can't read entries (403 or none) and showed only a bare title plus one line. It now always renders the agent header (avatar, name, pod count, Profile/Memory/Settings segment), the left nav and search, and puts the empty state inside the body. Owner path is unchanged.

Test: V2AgentMemory.test.tsx covers the non-owner path keeping header, tabs, nav and an in-body status; layout invariants 299/299.

Walkthrough

The agent memory page now fetches and displays agent profile details alongside profile, memory, and settings tabs. Loading and denied states render inside a memory shell. The denied-state test checks that the page heading and navigation remain visible.

Changes: Agent memory page

Layer / File(s) Summary
Profile header and memory states
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentMemory.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-settings.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentMemory.test.tsx
The page fetches profile details using the encoded agent name and instance ID, defaulting an empty instance ID to default. It displays the agent identity and tabs. Loading and denied states use a memory shell with placeholder counts, search, and status text. The test checks that page elements remain visible when the memory request is rejected.

The memory page still has user-visible identity and empty/error-state correctness issues, along with missing required coverage, so it is not ready to merge.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: the memory page keeps the D215 shell (agent header, navigation, search) for non-owners and empty memory. It also carries the task reference TASK-732 and a conventional fix(v2) prefix. The title is specific and matches the summary and objectives.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states the problem, the fix, and the test coverage. It says the page now renders the agent header, left nav, and search, and places the empty state in the body for non-owners. This matches the raw summary of V2AgentMemory.tsx and the test change in V2AgentMemory.test.tsx.

HEAD: 9333ea7 — GATE: PASS

UX gate, filed for lark at lily-shen's request (125945). Built the exact head, served it from disk against a fixture API (no live data), rendered /v2/agents/<name>/default/memory at 1440 and 390, light and dark, in two states: owner view (index returns) and non-owner view (memory 403, profile 200).

  • The agent header (avatar, name, "Active in 3 pods", Profile / Memory / Settings segment) renders in both states, both themes, both widths. The non-owner view is the same frame as the owner view; the "No memory recorded yet." line sits inside the body beside the nav and search, as the D215 memory frame has it.
  • At 390 the segment wraps below the identity and nothing overflows (scrollWidth = clientWidth = 390 in all eight renders). Dark uses tokens only (--v2-text-tertiary); no hard-coded colours in the diff.
  • Order Profile / Memory / Settings matches the frame. The renamed test asserts the h1, the Profile link, the nav and the status line.

Non-blocking, fix-forward in the TASK-730 dark pass: the frame's connected dot, talk/more buttons and Identity/Shared nav entries (lark noted these); the 390 page-shell top bar from #3155 doesn't reach this page, so the header needs the same move as #3146; shell nav items are inert spans with a 0 count, which is fine until entries load.

Follow-up Comments

Minor follow-up Use the agent’s user ID as the avatar seed.

152-152: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Use the agent’s user ID as the avatar seed.

For an unpicked avatar, this seed can produce a different face from the profile and chat. The profile endpoint returns agent.userId for that purpose. Store it and use it as the seed, with the current identity as a fallback. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the agent data flow used by V2Avatar to retain agent.userId, then use it
as the avatar seed with the existing agent identity as the fallback instead of
always combining agentName and instanceId.
Minor follow-up Clear the previous agent’s header on route changes.

119-119: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Clear the previous agent’s header on route changes.

If navigation changes the agent and the new memory request finishes before the profile request, the page shows the new memory under the previous agent’s name and avatar. Key the header state by agent identity, or clear it when the identity changes.

Update the useEffect handling agent route changes to clear the previous agent’s
header when the agent identity changes, or key the header state by that
identity, so new memory cannot appear with the previous agent’s name and avatar
while the profile request is pending.
Minor follow-up Render a status for a successful empty index.

163-163: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Render a status for a successful empty index.

The memory endpoint returns sections: [] when an authorized agent has no memory. This condition skips MemoryShell, and the ready branch renders an empty body instead of the requested empty state. Render the empty message inside the body and add a test for a successful empty response. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the ready-state rendering in V2AgentMemory so an authorized response with
an empty index displays the empty message inside the body instead of rendering
nothing. Add a test covering a successful response with sections: [].
Minor follow-up Do not report a rejected request as empty memory.

163-163: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Do not report a rejected request as empty memory.

A 403 means the viewer cannot read the memory. A network or server error also reaches this branch. Neither proves that memory is empty, but the new message and zero counts say it is. Show an access or error status and leave the counts unknown.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentMemory.tsx at line 163:
Update the V2AgentMemory render logic so denied or failed requests show an
access or error status rather than the “No memory recorded yet” empty-state
message. Keep memory counts unknown unless the request succeeds and confirms
there is no memory; preserve the empty-state message only for that confirmed
result.
Minor follow-up Add a presence test for header wrapping.

179-179: Minor · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add a presence test for header wrapping.

The new .v2-agent-memory__head rule uses load-bearing flex sizing. AGENTS.md requires a presence test for such v2 layout rules. Add an assertion for flex-wrap: wrap in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts.

Add a presence assertion in the v2 layout invariants test for the
`.v2-agent-memory__head` rule’s `flex-wrap: wrap` declaration.
Nitpick Wait for the denied message and cover the profile data.

125-128: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Wait for the denied message and cover the profile data.

The initial loading render already contains a status, heading, Profile link, navigation, and body. The test therefore does not prove that the memory rejection settled. Both GET requests also reject, so the test never checks the returned display name or pod count. Resolve the profile request, reject only the memory request, wait for No memory recorded yet., then assert the display name and pod count.

Update the test containing the `.v2-agent-memory__body [role="status"]`
assertion so the profile GET resolves while only the memory GET rejects; wait
for “No memory recorded yet.” before asserting the rendered display name and pod
count, rather than treating the initial loading status as proof that the
rejection settled.
