Activity ("Needs you") walked as a new user, drawn into d215 first (section s-activity: day zero at 1440 and 390, busy at 1440 and 390, the Get started checking and loaded close-ups, and a notes table), then built to the frame.

What changes

  1. One action row per card on a phone. At ≤760 the text act (Reply, Approve, Mark handled) grows to fill the row and the 44px icon squares sit beside it. Before, every button took a full row, so a mention card stacked three 44px bars. On a decision card, Other… and the ↗ square share the last row too.
  2. Get started holds its place. While the roster and connector fetches are in flight, eligible accounts see a same-height placeholder ("checking…", aria-busy) instead of nothing, so Needs you doesn't jump down when the card arrives. Reduced motion gets no pulse.
  3. The empty week says its window: "Nothing moved in the last 7 days." (zh 最近7天没有新进展。)
  4. The speak step stops telling people an @mention is required. Scout answers a plain hello in My Workspace, so it now reads "Say hello in the pod where it lives. If it doesn't answer, @mention it."

Proof

  • Frontend jest 2617/2617 on the rebased branch; tsc --noEmit clean.
  • Mutation checks on each new invariant and behavior test (9), including the decision footer basis: putting flex: 1 1 100% back fails the layout invariant.
  • Real browser (headless Chromium, fixtures, GET only), measured getBoundingClientRect:
    • 390 busy: mention Reply 242×44 with ✓ and ↗ 44×44 on the same top; approval Approve 242 with × and ↗ beside it; decision Other… 290 with ↗ on the same top. No horizontal overflow.
    • 1440 busy: unchanged 32px row.
    • Get started placeholder and loaded card are the same height (176px at 1440, 346px at 390), so Needs you doesn't move.

zh strings follow the glossary (Pod, @提及, 你, no space between numeral and hanzi).

Walkthrough

The Activity surface adds desktop and mobile design mockups. Eligible pages show a pending Get started placeholder while data loads. The 7-day view uses a weekly empty-state message, and mobile action layouts now share row space.

Changes: Activity surface

Layer / File(s) Summary
Activity design mockups
docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html
Adds desktop and mobile Activity mockups, styles, symbols, and a table-of-contents link. The mockups show queue actions, grouped updates, and pending and loaded onboarding states.
Get started and empty-state rendering
frontend/src/v2/components/V2ActivityPage.tsx, frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json, frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2ActivityPage.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
When the page is eligible to show Get started, it displays a pending placeholder until roster and connector data resolve. It displays the card only if steps remain. The 7-day view uses a weekly empty-state message. Tests cover these states and translations.
Mobile Activity action layout
frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
At widths up to 760px, queue actions and decision-footer buttons share row space. Decision options remain full width. Layout tests check these responsive rules.

Reserve height for every eligible step count.

When an eligible account has no seats and no connectors, startSteps contains three rows. This placeholder always has two. If only one step remains, it is also too tall. The card therefore moves “Needs you” when the requests finish. Reserve a stable height across these outcomes. Add a pending-to-loaded height check for the three-step and one-step cases. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

As per coding guidelines, “New code path ≠ test: flag it. Name the specific test that should exist.”

Re-checked at a244047 after the rebase onto #3314. git range-diff marks both code commits identical to the ones passed at 5438bad. The artboard commit differs only in context lines: the activity block now follows #3314's run-trace-link rules, which are all kept, and there are no conflict markers. Neither #3313 nor #3314 touches activity.* strings, the Activity invariants or any v2-activity rule. #3314's run-trace test slices from the first ≤760 block, and this PR's block comes after it. V2ActivityPage.test.tsx, v2-layout-invariants.test.ts and src/i18n pass at the new head: 443/443.

No blocking defects at this head.

Ran V2ActivityPage.test.tsx and v2-layout-invariants.test.ts under node 22 on a copy of the head tree: 407/407 pass. With main's V2ActivityPage.tsx and v2.css put back under the PR's tests, 5 tests fail across both suites, so the new tests catch a revert of the placeholder, the empty-week copy and the ≤760 one-row rules. All branch commits are authored by Lily Shen.

Placeholder (V2ActivityPage.tsx ~608): startEligible uses the loaded card's own gate (queue empty, hasEverHadAttention strictly false, All pods). startPending waits for both the roster and the connector count, and it can't stick: every per-pod registry fetch and the connector fetch catch to an empty value, and a refetch never resets them to null. Pending and loaded sections are mutually exclusive, so the aria-labelledby id is never duplicated. aria-busy sits on the labelled section, the bars are aria-hidden, and the pulse runs only under prefers-reduced-motion: no-preference.

CSS (v2.css ~5585–5597): checked every child of .v2-activity__queue-actions. Approve, Reply and Mark handled grow beside their 44px squares. The reply editor's nested Send gets only the height rule (the 66493 guard still holds and is asserted). On a decision card the footer is display: contents, so Other… (1 1 auto) and the ↗ square (none) share the last row while the options stay full width. The icon override (0,5,1) beats the text rule (0,4,1) and comes later. The author's 390 browser measurements in the body agree.

Notes, not blocking: the placeholder always draws two step rows, so the no-shift claim holds for the drawn day-zero case (two steps left); an account with one or three steps left will see the card shrink or grow by a row. An eligible account with every step done sees the placeholder briefly, then the card goes away; caching the last known steps per account would fix it if it turns out to be common. The artboard uses flex 1 1 0 without wrap and the build uses 1 1 auto with wrap; the output matches because no card has two text acts.

zh-CN: 最近7天没有新进展。 (no numeral spacing), 正在检查…, 在它所在的 Pod 里打个招呼。如果它没回应,就 @提及它。 (half-width spaces around Pod, @提及, 你-register). en and zh add the same key paths.

Correct the mobile CSS baseline in the notes.

The notes say the current ≤760px rule gives queue-action buttons flex: 1 1 100%. At this revision, frontend/src/v2/v2.css uses flex: 1 1 auto, so the notes describe the former stacked layout as current behavior. Identify flex: 1 1 100% as the previous rule. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

As per path instructions, “Check each factual claim about code … against the repository at this head, and flag a claim … that … behaves differently.”

On CodeRabbit's two notes:

  • Artboard note naming the old phone rule as current (d215, line 1543): fixed in the latest commit. It now says the stacked flex: 1 1 100% rule is what came before this build.
  • Placeholder height for one or three steps: leaving this as is. How many steps an account has depends on the roster and connector fetches the placeholder is waiting for, so a step-based height isn't known yet when it draws. A fresh account always has Scout seated and no connector, so the placeholder draws the two-step day-zero case, and that case doesn't move. The no-agent case (three steps) and the one-step case can still change height by one row when the fetches land. If that turns out to be common, we can cache the last known step count per account.

Re-stamped at eccbf22. Since a244047 there is one commit, changing one line of docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html (1543). "Today … stacks them" became "Before this build … stacked them". No code, CSS, string or test changed, so the a244047 test run (443/443) and the review above still apply.

The note is now accurate against v2.css. Main has .v2-root .v2-activity__queue-actions > button { flex: 1 1 100%; min-height: 44px; }, and this PR makes it flex: 1 1 auto. Decision options still take full width at ≤760, and Other… shares the last row with the 44px ↗ square, as the rest of the sentence says.

Follow-up Comments

Minor follow-up Qualify the “same-height” loading claim.

1543-1543: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Qualify the “same-height” loading claim.

The note says that “Get started never pops in” and that the placeholder holds its place. The implementation reserves exactly two pending rows, but startSteps can resolve to one, two, or three rows. One-step and three-step accounts can therefore change card height after loading. Limit this claim to the two-step case, or document the possible one-row shift. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

As per path instructions, documentation claims must match behavior at this revision.

Update the “Get started never pops in” note to qualify that the same-height

note that one- or three-step accounts may shift by one row after loading. Keep
the documentation aligned with the behavior of startSteps.

Agreed on the follow-up about the placeholder note. It now says the placeholder takes the height of the two-step day-zero card, that an account with one or three steps left shifts by one row when the steps land, and that the card drops if none come back. The code is unchanged, for the reason given above.

Re-stamped at c162af2. The only change since eccbf22 is one line of docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html (1543): the "Get started never pops in" note. No code, CSS, string or test changed.

The note now matches V2ActivityPage.tsx. startSteps adds hire when no pod has a seat, speak when the account hasn't spoken in a seated pod, and connect when the connector count is 0. A day-zero account with Scout seated and no connector gets speak plus connect, two steps, and the placeholder always draws two rows, so the heights match. One step (spoken, no connector) and three steps (no agent hired) shift by a row, as the note now says. The loaded card renders only when startSteps.length > 0, so it drops when no steps come back.

Preserve the resolved step count in the pending reservation.

startPending always renders two rows, but startSteps can resolve to one, two, three, or zero rows. One- and three-step results change the card height by one row. A zero-step result removes the card after displaying the placeholder. This placeholder was added by this PR.

Use the account’s last known step count for the pending reservation, or another reservation that covers every non-empty result. Keep the resolved zero-step branch hidden so the empty state remains unchanged. Do not replace the current two-row literal with another fixed count.

Qualify every same-height claim for the two-step case.

The pending card always renders two rows, but startSteps can produce one, two, or three rows, or no card. The table cell and caption overstate the height invariant. The new component comment at V2ActivityPage.tsx:604-606 repeats the same claim and also needs qualification. The mobile flex-rule wording is separate and already correct.

On the review at c162af2:

  • Reserve the last known step count: same point as before and still skipped. Caching steps per account is a behavior change, so it should come with its own measurement of how often one- and three-step accounts actually hit this page. The two-step day-zero case is the one a new account sees.
  • The remaining same-height wording (the "Get started · checking" table cell, the "Get started · loaded" caption, and the comment in V2ActivityPage.tsx above the pending check): agreed, those three should carry the same two-step qualifier as the line-1543 note. They're wording only, so they'll go in the next d215 change rather than another review round on this PR.
