chore: Commit-pinned file diffs: fetch a PR's files+patch as of a given commit, not as of the PR head - #955
Conversation
Expose list_files, compare_files, and files_as_of_commit so review sweeps can reconstruct the diff at the commit a thread was written against, with trust-gate docs on patch fields. Model and list pull request files src/github/models.rs, src/github/pulls.rs |
PullRequestFile represents filenames, optional rename and status fields, and an optional patch. list_files paginates the pull request files endpoint and parses its results. Tests cover parsed fields, missing patches, and pagination. |
Compare files between refs src/github/pulls.rs |
compare_files extracts file entries from compare responses and parses them as PullRequestFile values. A test checks the compare path and parsed result. |
Retrieve files at a commit src/github/pulls.rs |
files_as_of_commit fetches the pull request base ref and compares it with the requested commit. A test checks this retrieval flow. |

Full details: Title check
-
Explanation
The title names the commit-pinned file diff feature, which matches the main change: listing a PR's files and patches as of a given commit. It does not cover the list_files and compare_files APIs, but it still names the primary change. The title uses the conventional-commit prefix "chore:" although the change adds new public APIs, and it is long (101 characters).
-
Full details: Description check
-
Explanation
The description does not follow the repository template. It has no '## Summary' section that explains the change and its reasons. It has no test plan checklist for cargo test, cargo clippy, or cargo fmt --check. It has no 'Notes for reviewers' section covering risk areas or backwards compatibility. It contains only a status note about item
#387, automation metadata, and HTML comments. It states that five unit tests pass, but it does not list the commands run.Resolution
Rewrite the description to follow the template. Add a Summary that explains that the change adds list_files, compare_files, and files_as_of_commit, and why commit-pinned diffs are needed. Replace the test plan with the three template checkboxes, and mark each one that was run. Add Notes for reviewers that cover risk areas, such as the unresolved CodeRabbit finding at src/github/pulls.rs:117, and backwards compatibility. Remove or move the agent metadata out of the description.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
-
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 53.85% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 13 functions across 2 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

- Around line 116-117: Update the compare endpoint flow to read `files` from a
single response instead of using `get_paginated`, and correct its documentation
to state that the files list is only included on the first response and capped
at 300. Return an error when the response contains 300 files so callers cannot
receive a potentially incomplete list as success, and add a test for that
boundary.

…e cap The compare endpoint sends its files list only on the first response and caps it at 300, so get_paginated could never fetch the rest: a capped result was returned as a complete diff. Read the single response, document the cap, and error at the boundary instead of returning a possibly truncated list. Add a test for the 300-file case.
