What

The pod board is unusable at 390px. Three problems, all at phone widths:

  • Pod name cut to one letter. The board head was one nowrap row (back, subtitle, New task), which squeezed the title to under 1px. On phone the title now takes a full-width row, and back and New task share the row above it.
  • Columns and gutter. The board kept the feature page's 34px desktop gutter, so at 390 it was 322px wide. On phone it is full width (390px). Its own head and columns carry the 14px inset.
  • No bottom nav on feature pages. V2FeaturePage never mounted V2MobileTabs. It now does, sharing one attention fetch with the rail. The pane reserves the bar's 56px so a scrolling body stops above it.

Desktop (1440) is unchanged for the board.

Measured

Headless Chromium, fixture pod with two tasks, base bc9e53494 vs this branch:

at 390x844 base this branch
board title width 0.06px 73px
board box 322px, x34 390px, x0
bottom tabs absent present, fixed, y 788, h 56
document overflow none none

A 68-character pod name ellipsizes on one line at 390: the title is 312px wide with 540px of text, and the document does not overflow.

At 1440x900 the board's title-wrap, New task, columns and column x-positions match base exactly.

Also checked on this branch at 390:

  • Task detail sheet: a fixed overlay at z 100 over the tab bar (z 40). The hit test at the bar's centre is the sheet. Sheet content fits (798 of 798).
  • Settings: the body ends at the bar's top and scrolls inside it (content 1511px in a 788px body).
  • BYO: the body ends at the bar's top and its content fits (718 of 718).

Other feature routes share this shell and were not measured one by one.

Column horizontal scroll at 390 is the existing kanban behaviour. Stacking columns on phone would be a product call and is not in this PR.

Tests

  • v2-layout-invariants.test.ts has a new v2 board on a phone (TASK-576) block. It pins the phone head wrap and full-width title row, the board body padding, the v2-feature--board route class, the bar's 56px height and feature reserve, and that V2FeaturePage mounts V2MobileTabs and shares the attention count. That file passes 263/263.
  • V2AgentBYOMemory and V2AgentBYOPodPicker stub useV2PodAttention, mirroring the existing NavRail stub. The new fetch had consumed their queued responses.
  • Full frontend suite: 186 suites, 1881 tests, exit 0. Layout suite re-run on the committed head: 263/263.

Gate: Vera (code and tests).

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

At 390px the board head was one nowrap row (back, subtitle, New task),
which squeezed the pod title to under 1px. On phone the head now wraps:
the title takes a full-width row, and back and New task share the row
above it.

The board also kept the feature page's 34px desktop gutter on phone, and
feature pages had no bottom tab bar there. The board is full-width on
phone. V2FeaturePage now mounts V2MobileTabs and shares one attention
fetch with the rail, and the pane reserves the bar's 56px so a scrolling
body stops above the bar.

Measured headless at 390x844 and 1440x900 on a fixture pod with two
tasks: title 0.06px -> 73px; board 322px -> 390px wide; bottom tabs
absent -> present at y 788. The 1440 board is unchanged. The task detail
sheet covers the tab bar as a modal (z 100 over nav z 40). Settings and
BYO bodies end at the bar's top with no document overflow.

Pinned in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts: phone head wrap, board body
padding, route class, bar height and reserve, V2FeaturePage mount.

Walkthrough

V2 feature pages now render mobile tabs with pod-attention counts. The Board route and phone-width styles support a wrapped board header, a padding-free board body, and space for the fixed mobile tab bar.

Changes: V2 Mobile Feature Layout

Layer / File(s) Summary
Feature-page tabs and attention count
frontend/src/v2/components/V2FeaturePage.tsx, frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentBYOMemory.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentBYOPodPicker.test.tsx
V2FeaturePage passes the pod-attention count to V2NavRail and V2MobileTabs, using 0 for a nullish tab count. Feature pages render the tabs and reserve 56px of bottom space on phones. Tests check the wiring and mock attention queries in the BYO suites.
Board phone-width layout
frontend/src/v2/V2App.tsx, frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
The Board route supplies v2-feature--board. At widths up to 760px, the board header wraps, its title occupies a full-width row, and the board feature body has no padding. Tests check these layout rules and route class.

Explanation

The title "fix(v2): pod board fits a 390px phone (TASK-576)" matches the main change. The PR makes the v2 pod board fit phone width at 390px. It adds a full-width title row, removes the 34px gutter on phones, and mounts V2MobileTabs on feature pages. The title is specific and concise. It omits the bottom-tab change, which is a secondary part of the work.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is related to the changeset. It explains the three phone-width problems: the pod name squeezed to one letter, the 34px desktop gutter on the board, and the missing bottom nav on feature pages. It also lists measurements, the affected test files, and the mocking of useV2PodAttention in the BYO tests. This matches the CSS, V2FeaturePage, and test-file changes in the raw summary.

Avoid the duplicate queue fetch on /v2/agents.

V2FeaturePage fetches the unscoped decision queue for the navigation count. V2YourTeamPage fetches the same queue again, without caching or in-flight deduplication. Entering /v2/agents can therefore issue two overlapping requests and add avoidable network and backend load.

Reuse the FeaturePage queue result in V2YourTeamPage. Keep V2ActivityPage's separate request because it requires pagination and optional pod scoping.

UX-GATE: PASS @ 9958861 — the 390 board head now shows the pod name and ellipsizes it, the board runs full width, the bottom tabs sit on all 12 feature routes with nothing hidden behind them, there is no horizontal scroll, and desktop is pixel-identical to main.

Written by UX Lead, a Commonly agent — https://commonly.me/v2/pods/6a692a1be833c668acdb84cf

Method. I built head 9958861 and main bc9e534 with REACT_APP_API_URL=https://api.commonly.me and served each as commonly.me under Playwright 1.64.1 (Chromium), with a fixture API. I walked 12 routes at 390×844 (isMobile) and 1440×900, DPR 2: both boards, Agents, Connectors, Artifacts, Activity, Settings, Settings/devices, BYO, Connect, Profile and Agents/manage. One fixture pod has a long name ("Connectors and Initiatives launch review for the v3.0.0 freeze", 456 px of text); the other is short ("Sharpen").

390 — board head

  • main: the title gets 0 px (rect width 0, scrollWidth 456), so the pod name isn't visible at all. Back, "8 tasks" and New task share one row inside 34 px side padding.
  • head: Back (14,14) and New task (266,12, right-aligned) share row 1, and the title wraps to row 2 at y 58. The long name runs 312 px wide with overflow: hidden, text-overflow: ellipsis and white-space: nowrap (scrollWidth 456 > clientWidth 312), and renders as "Connectors and Initiatives launch revie…" beside "8 tasks". The short name fits exactly (62/62) with no ellipsis.
  • The head is 390 wide. The board body padding is 0px (main: 28px 34px 42px), so the focus card and column row run edge to edge. The kanban row still scrolls sideways inside its own overflow-x: auto container, as on main; that is by design, not page scroll.

390 — tab bar on feature pages

  • main has no tab bar on any feature route. head shows .v2-mobile-tabs on all 12 routes: display: grid, position: fixed, z 40, rect y 788 h 56. All 4 tabs hit-test to themselves on every route, and "Needs you · 2" carries the shared attention count.
  • .v2-feature has padding-bottom: 56px, so the scroll body stops at y 788 on every route.
  • To check that nothing sits behind the bar, I scrolled every scroller to its end and hit-tested every visible leaf against the bar's top:
    • Boards, Agents, Connectors, Artifacts, Activity, Connect and Agents/manage: 0 leaves below 788. The last board leaf ends at 744.
    • Settings, Settings/devices and Profile: the only hits are the "Create App" button and its spans. They live inside the closed "Developer apps" <details>, so they aren't rendered. The last visible section, Administration, ends above the bar.
    • BYO: the only hits are .v2-byo__hint and .v2-byo__footnote, inside the closed "Other ways to connect" <details>, so also not rendered. The form ends at 713.
  • document.scrollWidth == clientWidth == 390 on every route in both builds, so there is no horizontal scroll.

1440 — desktop. All 12 routes at 1440×900 are pixel-identical to main (RGB difference, empty bbox on every route). As a positive control, the frames show the populated board: full title, 4 columns, and the rail's needs-you badge at 2. Passing needsYouCount from V2FeaturePage into the rail changes nothing visible.

Invariants. v2-layout-invariants.test.ts passes at the head (263/263). Its new "v2 board on a phone (TASK-576)" block pins five rules: the head wrap and row gap, the title on its own full row, New task pushed right, the zero body padding on the board, and the 56 px pane reserve equal to the 56 px bar height.

Non-blocking, pre-existing, not this PR:

  • At 390, the Settings "Connected apps" row draws "Connectors" over its description, "Manage connected services and channels".
  • Fixture-only gaps, such as unmocked device and grant endpoints, show error copy in my frames and are not product defects.
