One line in the README's "Bring your own" list: Claude Code answers @mentions on Linux too.

  • Evidence: feat(cli): Claude Code on Linux answers @mentions in invite-only pods (TASK-027) #2820 was tested on 10-28: Claude Code 2.1.312 with CLI 0.1.196 on Debian 12 answered a human @mention and posted back as the agent in about 3 s.
  • What it doesn't claim: tool use on Linux, or Codex on Linux. The walk ran its model with tools off, against a self-hosted stack.
  • Why the line says to run the commands yourself: the Bring your own page offers the always-on listener on macOS only (listenerRunsOn = os === 'mac' in V2AgentBYO.tsx). A Linux user gets the MCP setup there, so the README points them to commonly agent attach claude plus commonly agent run.
  • Windows: unchanged.

Follows #2922. The same claim is going into #2931 (docs intro) and #2920 (CHANGELOG).

Walkthrough

The README adds Linux instructions for Claude Code @mention replies in invite-only pods when bubblewrap is installed and CLI 0.1.196 or later is used. Windows retains MCP access without @mention replies.

The README adds Linux attach and run commands and specifies the bubblewrap and CLI version requirements for @mention replies. Windows remains on the MCP setup path and does not answer @mentions.

Docs gate at cd55d90 (README, one line).

The evidence supports a narrower claim than this line makes. SRE's walk of #2820 on 10-28 (Debian 12, Claude Code 2.1.312, CLI 0.1.196) passed in a prod pod. #2820 itself is titled "Claude Code on Linux answers @mentions in invite-only pods". Its body says: "when every pod the seat answers in is invite-only. Public trust stays refused on Linux." It also needs bubblewrap with a working user-namespace probe. Without those, agent run is refused at start (host-check.js).

Blocking: "answers @mentions on macOS and Linux" plus "run commonly agent attach claude and commonly agent run yourself" tells a Linux reader this works in any pod. In a public pod the run is refused, and a pod that turns public refuses each turn. Fix: "On Linux, it answers @mentions in invite-only pods, with bubblewrap installed (CLI 0.1.196 or later): run commonly agent attach claude and commonly agent run yourself, because the page offers the MCP setup there."

The rest checks out. The page offers MCP on Linux (listenerRunsOn is mac-only in V2AgentBYO.tsx). Codex on Linux isn't claimed. 0.1.196 is the walked version and is npm latest. The Windows sentence is unchanged.

Make the Linux commands self-contained.

The printed commands do not satisfy the CLI contract. attach requires --pod and --name, and run requires an agent name. The nearby README example and linked connection guide provide the missing values, so this omission does not block the overall setup, but the commands in this bullet fail as written.

Suggested fix
-- **Claude Code** answers @mentions on macOS and Linux. On Linux, run `commonly agent attach claude` and `commonly agent run` yourself (CLI 0.1.196 or later), because the page offers the MCP setup there. On Windows, the page connects your own Claude Code session over MCP instead: you can use the pod's tools from that session, but it won't answer @mentions.

Align the connection guide with the Linux support claim.

docs-site/agents/connect.mdx says that its attach and run forms are still pending the TASK-011 walk. This conflicts with the README’s current claim that Claude Code answers Linux @mentions through that manual path. Update the guide or narrow the README claim.

Re-gate at 2d2f1e6, delta from my HOLD at cd55d90.

The Linux scope is in: "answers @mentions in invite-only pods, with bubblewrap installed (CLI 0.1.196 or later)". That matches #2820 and SRE's 10-28 Debian walk. macOS is stated on its own, and Windows is unchanged. The commands now carry their arguments, attach claude --pod <pod> --name <name> and run <name>, which is the CLI's attach/run shape. Codex on Linux isn't claimed.

Re-gate at d845df7 (since my PASS at 2d2f1e6: one README line changed).

I checked the new Linux claims against the CLI at this head:

  • "No environment file is needed" / "runs it inside bubblewrap on its own": on Linux the mode resolves to bwrap without an env file (cli/src/lib/sandbox/mode.js:47: darwin → workspace, otherwise → bwrap). Workspace trust takes the same resolution, and workspace-trust.js covers Linux (#2784).
  • "refuses to start if bubblewrap can't run": mode.js refuses rather than spawning unconfined, and attach checks that bwrap is installed (mode.js:13, :23).
  • "from a project folder": workspaceStartDirRefusal refuses $HOME and any directory that contains it, and its fix says to run from the project's folder.

The CodeRabbit thread is answered, and I agree with the answer. A bare sandbox.mode: bwrap is the public-trust shape #2820 refuses. The invite-only scope and the CLI 0.1.196 floor are unchanged.
