copy: Claude Code answers @mentions on macOS, and on Linux in invite-only pods (TASK-027) - #2823
Draft. It doesn't ship until SRE walks #2820 on a real Linux host.
This is the copy and page half of Stack & OSS TASK-027. #2820 is the cli change: Claude Code on Linux (WSL included) answers @mentions when every pod it answers in is invite-only, and a public Claude Code seat stays refused. This PR changes everything that currently says Claude Code answers only on a Mac. It ships the hour that walk passes, and the walk's date goes to TASK-016.
Copy
"macOS; Linux in invite-only pods" now appears in these places:
README.md, the Claude Code bullet.
landingFaq.ts, the "connect Claude Code to my team's chat" answer.
guides.json, three answers (lines 138, 803 and 5734).
Scout's prompt. Linux and WSL join the card pairs for Claude Code, with the instruction to say it answers only in invite-only pods. Native Windows keeps the no-card answer. The signup workspace (authController.ts) and the pods Scout creates (approvalActionService.ts) are both invite-only, so the card's usual pod qualifies.
docs/design/readme-benchmark.md, the Claude Code row.
Bring your own page (V2AgentBYO.tsx)
listenerRunsOn now takes the selected pod. Linux plus Claude Code gets the listener command only when the pod passes the CLI's own test, podIsConfirmedPrivate from workspace-trust.js, copied exactly: both publicRead and communityListed reported and false, and joinPolicy invite-only. A pod that omits a flag is treated as public, as the CLI treats it, so the page never offers a command the CLI would refuse.
If the pod isn't invite-only, a new notice, unavailableClaudeLinux, says why and points to "Who can join → Invite-only" in pod settings. The MCP and hosted routes stay on offer.
A new reach note, reachClaudeLinux, replaces the macOS one on Linux. It says the listener answers only while every pod is invite-only, it stops if a pod opens up, it should run from the project folder (not home), and it needs bubblewrap.
Tests
V2AgentBYOListenSnippet:
Linux with an invite-only pod gets the listener command (--adapter claude) and the Linux reach note.
Four not-private pod shapes get no command and the new notice: open to join, listed in Community, publicRead unreported and communityListed unreported.
The existing Linux test now expects the new notice.
Mac keeps the macOS note.
nativeAgents.scoutKnowledge: the card-pair and platform assertions now match the new wording.
Ran in node:22 containers, with no secret mounts:
frontend: the 15 suites that cover this change pass (364 tests), among them BYO, runtimeClaims, landing and connect honesty;
the SEO, nginx and signup script tests: 11 pass;
tsc --noEmit: clean;
backend nativeAgents.scoutKnowledge: 27/27.
In public copy, WSL is written "Linux, including WSL", as runtimeClaims.test.ts requires.
zh-CN
There are two new keys. They reuse the UI's own labels: 谁可以加入, 仅限邀请, Pod 设置 and 所有者. The glossary term for invite-only is 邀请制, but the label a person clicks says 仅限邀请, and so does the sibling reachClaude. The skill's two-pass + adjudicate review is still owed before this PR leaves draft. Quota mode has no subagents right now.
Codex stays Mac only. Main narrowed Codex to "Mac; Linux not tested yet" in docs(byo): TASK-012 claim table + OpenCode version fix #2783, so this PR no longer widens Codex anywhere: not in Scout's card pairs, not on the page's listener (listenerRunsOn only adds Linux for Claude Code in a confirmed-private pod), and not in the guides. Only the Claude Code on Linux lines remain.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
Claude Code listener support now includes Linux and WSL when every associated pod is private, unlisted in Community, and invite-only. Scout rules, BYO availability checks, tests, localized guidance, and platform documentation reflect these conditions. Native Windows remains unsupported.
Scout guidance and connect-card eligibility include Claude Code on Linux and WSL. Tests retain the native-Windows restriction and Codex’s macOS-only eligibility.
Linux Claude Code is available when publicRead and communityListed are explicitly false and joinPolicy is invite-only. The interface checks the issued installation’s pod when available and shows Linux-specific guidance. Tests cover eligible and ineligible pod settings.
Platform support documentation docs/design/readme-benchmark.md, docs-site/bring-your-own/*, frontend/src/content/guides.json, frontend/src/content/landing-faq.json
The benchmark, setup guides, FAQs, and CLI guide describe Linux and WSL Claude Code listener support in invite-only pods. Linux setup requirements and behavior outside those conditions are also documented.

Describe all reasons the Linux listener can be unavailable.
An invite-only pod can fail podIsConfirmedPrivate because it is Community-listed or a privacy flag is missing. In those cases, “this one isn’t” invite-only is false, and changing “Who can join” will not resolve the failure. Use a message that names the full eligibility condition, or select guidance for the failed condition. Make the same correction in frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json at Line 1674.
As per path instructions, comment on “correctness bugs, security issues, data loss or corruption, broken contracts, and missing tests for changed behaviour”; this message gives an incorrect reason for a reachable rejected state.

Do not offer Linux Claude until a compatible CLI is published.
For an invite-only pod, the page can show a listener command that installs @commonlyai/cli@latest and runs commonly agent run ... --adapter claude. The CLI at this head resolves its default sandbox to bwrap on Linux, then hostSandboxRefusal returns linuxClaudeMessage() for Claude and agent run exits before polling. No CLI change or release/version gate in this PR establishes that a fixed CLI is published before this UI ships.
Keep the Linux Claude option hidden until that CLI release is available, or land and publish the CLI change first.

Check every pod before offering the Linux Claude Code listener.
When this agent also answers in an open or Community-listed pod, pods.find can return a private issued pod and listenerAvailable becomes true. The page then offers a command even though the stated CLI condition requires every pod to qualify; the listener will not answer as promised. Check the seat’s full pod set, or avoid presenting the command as available when that set is unknown.
As per coding guidelines, “Correctness” requires checking “Async races: concurrent calls, double-firing, out-of-order completion” and boundary values; here, the load-bearing condition is the every-pod privacy invariant stated in the changed guidance.

At this point the seat's pod set is exactly the issued pod. The page installs a new agent into one pod (issued.podId, or the picked podId) and mints its token there, so no other pods exist yet for pods.find to miss. Checking that pod with the CLI's own podIsConfirmedPrivate test is checking the whole seat at issue time.
The case left is a pod added to the agent later. The page can't see that, so the reach note covers it: "answers only while every pod it's in is private, invite-only and not listed in Community … If any of its pods stops being invite-only, it stops answering until that pod is invite-only again." The CLI enforces the condition on every turn. The page only decides whether to show the command for the pod in front of it.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
@lilyshen0722 The selected-pod check is sufficient for a newly created, single-pod seat. I overstated the concern for that path.
However, this page also supports existing seats:
submit accepts “already installed” and handles a token that exists in another pod.
replaceRunningKey replaces that token and sets issued without creating a new seat.
listenerAvailable then checks only issued.podId.
Therefore, token issuance does not establish that every seat shown here has exactly one pod.
The reach note explains the runtime restriction. The CLI’s per-turn check enforces it. The remaining concern is narrower: the page can offer the listener command for an existing multi-pod seat that the CLI will refuse.
Please check the replacement/reconnection path with a seat installed in both an eligible private pod and an ineligible pod. If that path cannot reach this screen, the finding can be withdrawn. Otherwise, the concern applies only to existing-seat recovery, not new-seat installation.
…only pods (TASK-027)
every pod it answers in is invite-only, and keeps a public one refused. The
copy that said Mac only now says so: the README, the landing FAQ, three guide
answers, Scout's platform list and card pairs, and the README benchmark row.
The Bring your own page offers the Linux Claude Code listener only for a pod
that passes the CLI's own private-pod test, a copy of podIsConfirmedPrivate:
both visibility flags reported and false, and invite-only. Otherwise it says
why and points to Who can join in pod settings. On Linux the reach note says
the listener stops answering in a pod that opens up, runs from the project
folder and needs bubblewrap.

Update all three Linux Claude Code references in the guide entries to state that
every associated pod must be private, unlisted in Community, and invite-only.
Keep the existing Mac and Codex guidance unchanged.

Refresh pod settings when the page regains focus.
listenerAvailable uses the in-memory pod entry for issued.podId. The pod-loading effect runs only when podId or the user changes. If another tab makes the selected pod invite-only, the issued page can keep hiding the Linux listener command while it still retains the issued token.
The issued page has no pod refresh or retry. Reloading clears issued, and the available recovery buttons also clear it before returning to issuance. Add a focus or visibility refresh that preserves issued, and test that the command appears without issuing a new token.
This is a narrow, recoverable UI-staleness case rather than a major issue because MCP setup and the token remain available, and the user can reissue the token.

Update the pod-loading effect in V2AgentBYO to refresh the selected pod when the
page regains focus or visibility, without clearing issued. Verify that when the
pod becomes invite-only in another tab, the Linux listener command appears
without issuing a new token.

Head a2759ff (this is a merge of origin/main into b9cb7b7, with no conflicts).
One review round (D218), done by a subagent reviewing the PR diff against main:
The podIsConfirmedPrivate copy in V2AgentBYO.tsx:111-117 matches cli/src/lib/workspace-trust.js:24-30 field for field. Codex stays refused on Linux.
The merge is clean: no props or keys were renamed on main, and the other BYO tests don't mock joinPolicy.
The zh-CN and en key sets under agentByo match, interpolations included.
The tests cover Linux in an invite-only pod, Linux in a public pod, Linux in a listed pod, each missing flag, and macOS.
The copy matches CLI behaviour on main: the first-run workspace pick (agent.js:464), refusal of a public seat on Linux (host-check.js:84), and the per-turn re-read (agent.js:1631, 1924).
Non-blocking; I'll file these as one follow-up row:
agentByo.unavailableClaudeLinux tells the owner to switch "Who can join". That's wrong for a pod that is already invite-only but listed in Community.
work-in-your-repo.mdx:35 says a failed pod check stops replies. In fact a failed read defers the turn and retries; only a settled public answer refuses it.
Scout's card rule has no pod condition for Linux, so a card can lead to the unavailable message.
The PR body's condition still stands: it ships after the SRE Linux walk of the #2820 behaviour.

State all Linux listener requirements in the unavailable guidance.
reachClaudeLinux already states the full condition: private, not listed in Community, and invite-only. Preserve it.
cliRouteClaudeLinuxUnavailable and unavailableClaudeLinux, including their Simplified Chinese counterparts, mention only invite-only. An invite-only pod that remains Community-listed still fails podIsConfirmedPrivate, so changing only the join policy does not fix every rejected pod. Update both messages to name all three conditions and require all three changes in the recovery guidance. Add a regression assertion for an invite-only but Community-listed pod.
