One hosted-mcp Integration row per Latchkey key, bound to one agent. The key is a ConnectorSecret referenced from config.credentialRef (not from a grant, which the orphan sweep would delete).
HostedMcpEntry.credentialMode: oauth (default, every shipped entry) or operator_key.
credentialFor branches on the entry's mode, before anything OAuth-shaped. An operator key is served as stored, with no fence, lease or vendor refresh. The freshness rule (which treats a missing lifetime as not fresh) is not applied to it.
Mint: an operator-key connection must name exactly its bound agent. An omitted audience is refused, not defaulted to every pod member. The check runs before the member default.
In this slice
backend/services/hostedMcpOperatorKey.ts: the audience refusal, as a pure function.
backend/services/hostedMcpCredentialService.ts: the mode branch.
backend/services/hostedMcpEntryService.ts: the optional credentialMode field.
backend/routes/grants.ts: the mint wiring.
Tests: hostedMcpOperatorKey.test.js (6 arms), hostedMcpCredential.operatorKey.test.js (4 arms). Run locally: the grant route suites pass 76/76 (3 suites); the credential suites, including the existing hostedMcpCredential and lease suites, pass 59/59 (4 suites, with the new ones).
Not in this slice (next commits, before this leaves draft)
The paste-key intake route: owner auth, a rate limit, a live tools/list before the row goes connected, no echo of the key, and a test that the key appears in no response or error.
The discriminated HostedMcpEntry union and the reader census (hostedMcpConnect routes, the backfill script, refreshTokenAtVendor, intake, installableCatalogService).
A route-level test for the mint refusal. The helper arms cover the logic; the wiring is not yet exercised through the route.
latchkey.ts pins. Last commit, after the walk key exists. Scope check for the key comes from the pin capture.
Walk (not run yet)
Sam creates the walk key at Latchkey. Launch asks him through the Cofounder once this is gated and staged. The connection owner must be present to approve the parked jobs:run calls, since hosted grants can only hold write-with-confirm.
…MCP (TASK-330)
Slice 1 of TASK-330, per Vera's read on main 57057ca (§2, §3):
- HostedMcpEntry gains credentialMode ('oauth' default | 'operator_key').
- credentialFor branches on the entry mode before any OAuth-shaped check:
an operator key is served as stored, with no fence, lease or refresh, and
the freshness rule does not decide it.
- Grant mint on an operator-key connection must name exactly the agent the
row is bound to. An omitted audience is refused, not defaulted to every
pod member. The check runs before the member default.
Not in this slice: the paste-key intake route, the discriminated entry
union and its reader census, and the latchkey.ts pins (the last commit,
once the walk key exists).

Integration configuration and the hosted-MCP unique index include config.agentId. The migration creates the agent-scoped index before dropping the previous index. Tests cover per-agent uniqueness, migration failure, repeat runs, and dry-run behavior.
The authenticated route validates submitted keys and scopes, probes upstream tools, stores accepted keys as connector secrets, and updates the integration row. The response omits the key.

HostedMcpEntry gains an optional credentialMode. For operator_key entries, credentialFor retrieves the stored key without OAuth refresh handling. Grant minting requires one explicit audience value matching the bound agent.

Slice 2 of TASK-330 (Vera §4-§5):
- listHostedMcpTools is extracted from the broker's drift listing, so intake
proves a pasted key through the same MCP client the calls use.

before any vendor call, probes tools/list with the key, and returns fixed
copy only. The key never appears in a result.
- scopeCheck reports 'self_report' when the vendor cannot report a key's
scopes, so a refused scope is never presented as a server guarantee.

Add route-level tests for operator-key audience refusal.
The existing invalid_audience test uses a GitHub App connection and exercises the general empty-audience check. It does not exercise the hosted-MCP operator-key branch. Add a model-backed operator-key connection test that omits audience, asserts 400 invalid_audience, and verifies that no grant is created. Also test an audience containing another member.

…evel operator-key mint test (TASK-330)
The unique index (createdBy, config.entryId) rejected a second agent's key
for the same entry (E11000). It is now (createdBy, config.entryId,
config.agentId), and config.agentId is declared and server-owned so it is
not silently dropped. scripts/migrate-hosted-mcp-agent-index.js drops the
old index and must run before any key is issued.
The mint test runs the grants route: an operator-key grant with an omitted
audience, a foreign agent, or the bound agent plus another member is 400;
exactly the bound agent passes. Removing the grants.ts guard turns the
refusal arms red.

… (TASK-330)
POST /connect/hosted-mcp/:entryId/operator-key takes one agent's key and
makes it a connected row bound to that agent (config.agentId, checked
against a bot User). The route refuses refused scopes among the operator's
picks before any vendor call, proves the key with a live tools/list, then
upserts the row pending, stores the key as a ConnectorSecret on the row
(never on a grant), and only then marks it connected.
scopeCheck is always self_report here: reportedScopes is passed as null
until a vendor readback exists, so the operator's picks cannot make a
refusal look like a server guarantee. The key is never echoed in a
response, and a failed secret write leaves the row pending.
Tests pin the scope refusal ordering, the bot check, the self_report
ignoring a body claim, the pending-then-connected write order, and that the
key appears in no response or row write.

Dropping first left the collection with no unique index for the window
between the drop and a failed build. The migration now builds the declared
index, then drops the old one, so a failed build keeps uniqueness.
Each test arm seeds its own pre-migration state instead of relying on an
earlier arm to create the old index. A new arm pins the order: a rejected
build leaves the old index in place and the second agent's key still
refused.

Trim the key before storing it. The probe uses the trimmed key, but the stored key is not trimmed.
validateOperatorKey trims key internally and probes tools/list with the trimmed value. The route keeps the raw key and passes it to connectorSecrets.put at Line 89. A pasted key with a trailing newline or space passes the probe. The row then goes connected with an untrimmed secret.
credentialFor returns that secret as the Authorization: Bearer value. A newline is an invalid header value, and the vendor can reject a trailing space. Every later tool call on this row then fails, although intake reported success.
Trim once at the boundary. Then the probe and the stored secret use the same value. Add a route test that submits ' ' + KEY + '\n' and asserts that connectorSecrets.put receives the trimmed key. The current fixture has no surrounding whitespace, so no test catches this.
As per path instructions: "review the actual effect on untrusted input, not merely a normalized comparison or a predicate's result (rule 54)."

Clear revokedAt and errorMessage when reconnecting an existing row.

The operator key is a credential the agent presents, so it takes the same
rule as a runtime token: ownsRuntimeIdentity(caller, agentName, instanceId)
from services/runtimeIdentityOwnership.ts. An agent the caller did not
solely install is refused 403 before any probe or row write. Admins are
not exempt.
The agent identity now comes from the bot's botMetadata, not the body.
Tests cover a bot with no identity, a shared identity, and that the check
runs for every caller.

The route's 403 now carries the ownership failure code, and the agent name
is lowercased as credentials.ts does. The route test mocks the installation
and pod data instead of the helper, so ownsRuntimeIdentity runs for real.
Arms: the sole owner passes; a caller with no installation, a second
installer, and an agent-dm installation are each refused 403 before any
probe or write. Disabling the guard reddens the three refusal arms.

Add a case with the caller’s installation and a second installation without installedBy. Assert 403 with failure: 'unknown_installer', and assert that no probe, row write, or secret write occurs. The existing second-installer test covers only a named installer.

…sedGrant
revokeTokenAtVendor came through an untyped require(), so revokeRefusedGrant
took HostedMcpEntry and still compiled against a callee that takes the OAuth
entry. Its parameter is now HostedMcpOAuthEntry, and the require is typed, so
tsc checks the call. Both callers already pass the narrowed OAuth entry.
tsc: no new errors against the baseline. Connect and removal suites pass.

Ported onto current main and finished in #3213 (the four commits there start from this branch's 77dc4f5). This draft gets closed with a link once #3213 merges.
Superseded by #3213, merged as d44dd6e. That PR carries the operator-key hosted-MCP mode with per-agent binding at mint and at call, the key intake and the removal path, rebuilt on current main. Closing this one in its favour. The Latchkey catalogue entry follows as its own data PR.

Slice 1 of TASK-330 (D208). Draft until the intake route and the walk are in. Tier 2 (credential storage, grants).
Design (per Vera's read, main 57057ca)
hosted-mcpIntegration row per Latchkey key, bound to one agent. The key is a ConnectorSecret referenced fromconfig.credentialRef(not from a grant, which the orphan sweep would delete).HostedMcpEntry.credentialMode:oauth(default, every shipped entry) oroperator_key.credentialForbranches on the entry's mode, before anything OAuth-shaped. An operator key is served as stored, with no fence, lease or vendor refresh. The freshness rule (which treats a missing lifetime as not fresh) is not applied to it.In this slice
backend/services/hostedMcpOperatorKey.ts: the audience refusal, as a pure function.backend/services/hostedMcpCredentialService.ts: the mode branch.backend/services/hostedMcpEntryService.ts: the optionalcredentialModefield.backend/routes/grants.ts: the mint wiring.hostedMcpOperatorKey.test.js(6 arms),hostedMcpCredential.operatorKey.test.js(4 arms). Run locally: the grant route suites pass 76/76 (3 suites); the credential suites, including the existing hostedMcpCredential and lease suites, pass 59/59 (4 suites, with the new ones). Not in this slice (next commits, before this leaves draft)
tools/listbefore the row goesconnected, no echo of the key, and a test that the key appears in no response or error.HostedMcpEntryunion and the reader census (hostedMcpConnect routes, the backfill script, refreshTokenAtVendor, intake, installableCatalogService).latchkey.tspins. Last commit, after the walk key exists. Scope check for the key comes from the pin capture.Walk (not run yet)
Sam creates the walk key at Latchkey. Launch asks him through the Cofounder once this is gated and staged. The connection owner must be present to approve the parked
jobs:runcalls, since hosted grants can only holdwrite-with-confirm.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
