TASK-690, slice 1 of the D215 artboard "Agent memory" section.

What

  • New route /v2/agents/:agentName/:instanceId/memory, reached from a new Memory tab in the profile and settings tab navs.
  • The tab reads the owner/admin memory index (GET /api/agent-memory/...) and groups sections as Rules (soul, long_term), How I work (shared, runtime_meta, relationships), Journal (daily, cycles). Unknown keys fall into How I work. The mapping is one constant, MEMORY_GROUPS.
  • Non-owners get a denied notice.

Not in this slice (still open on TASK-690)

  • Data gap: the frame's tag chips and recency times are not drawn. The memory index returns no tags or updated-at per note, so they wait for slice 2 (an additive API change).
  • Hover actions (pin, edit, more) and the 390 layout with the bottom tab bar: slice 2 scope.
  • Identity and Shared rows from the frame are the editor's other tabs, so they stay in settings.
  • Numbers from the row: helper words 185→28, scroll 1440 1.3x→1.0x, 390 1.7x→1.0x. Not measured.
  • Before/after screenshots on the seeded staging pod. Not taken.
  • The i18n strings use defaultValue for now; zh-CN keys are not added.

Checks

  • V2AgentMemory, V2AgentSettingsPage, V2AgentProfileMemoryWrite suites: 38/38 pass.
  • tsc --noEmit clean for the touched files. eslint: no new errors. The two i18next/no-literal-string errors in V2AgentProfile.tsx (kind="agent") were already there.

Walkthrough

The v2 app adds an authenticated agent memory page. It fetches memory for the selected agent and instance, groups and filters notes, and provides navigation links from the agent profile and settings pages.

Changes: Agent Memory Page

Layer / File(s) Summary
Group memory sections
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentMemory.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentMemory.test.tsx
The page groups soul and rule-like long-term notes under Rules, other long-term notes and unknown sections under How I work, and daily and cycle sections under Journal. Tests cover section placement and long-term note classification.
Fetch and render memory
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentMemory.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentMemory.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-settings.css
The page requests agent memory, filters notes by header and snippet, and renders group navigation and notes. It displays loading and access messages. Tests cover the route-derived request, search, and rejected requests; styles define the responsive layout.
Route and navigation links
frontend/src/v2/V2App.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentProfile.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentSettingsPage.tsx, frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json, frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json
The v2 app lazy-loads the page and adds an authenticated memory route. The profile and settings tabs link to the memory page using the encoded agent name and instance ID. English and Chinese locale files add the Memory label.

Separate access denial from request failures.

A network error, 429, or 500 sets denied just like a 403. Owners cannot tell that loading failed or that a retry may help. Reserve denied for authorization failures and show a retryable error for other failures.

Project relationship notes in the owner/admin memory index.

When an owner/admin opens this page, groupSections(index.sections) can only render sections returned by GET /api/agent-memory/.... The owner/admin index builder in backend/routes/agentMemoryView.ts does not project sections.relationships, so saved relationship notes never reach the page and “How I work” renders empty. Add relationship-note projection to that API response; keep relationships in MEMORY_GROUPS.

When an owner’s agent has no stored memory, the backend returns sections: []. The ready branch then renders nothing below the tabs. Show a “No memory yet” message when no groups contain sections, and test that response. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Show an empty state when no groups contain notes.

If the index is empty or a search has no matches, this filter renders no page content. The navigation still shows three links with no targets. Show a “no memory” or “no matches” message, and omit links to groups that are not rendered.

67-73: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Do not render the previous index for a new memory route.

When navigation changes agentName or instanceId, the same V2AgentMemory instance can render once with the previous ready index before useEffect sets state to loading. This can briefly show notes from the previous route under the new route. The notes were already visible to the same user, so this does not expose previously unseen data across an authorization boundary. It is a route-labeling correctness issue.

Track the route that produced index and render it only for that route.

Add a presence test for the constrained desktop memory grid.

The .v2-agent-memory grid sets grid-template-columns: 200px minmax(0, 1fr) inside the @media (min-width: 768px) block of frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-settings.css. The minmax(0, 1fr) track lets the notes column shrink below its content's minimum width, so it is load-bearing layout CSS. The v2 guidance requires a presence test for this kind of rule in frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts.

That suite reads v2-agent-settings.css but has no assertion for .v2-agent-memory or its 768px block. Removing or changing the declaration would not fail any test. Add this test to the agent settings block, next to the existing agent Settings tests:

Suggested invariant
+  test('agent Memory keeps the constrained desktop grid', () => {
+    const desktop = blockContaining(agentSettings, '@media (min-width: 768px)', '.v2-agent-memory');
+    expect(desktop).toContain('grid-template-columns: 200px minmax(0, 1fr)');

Add a presence test for the memory body layout rule.

.v2-agent-memory__body in frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-settings.css:143 sets display: grid, gap: 28px, and min-width: 0. The min-width: 0 declaration is a sizing guard, and the v2 path rule requires a presence test for load-bearing layout CSS in frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts. That file has no assertion that references .v2-agent-memory__body, so a change to this rule would not fail a layout invariant.

  • Notes as rows with header and snippet, no tag or recency chips (frame-minus-data, per Lily's ruling).
  • Dark theme holds the same structure.

Differences I am leaving in slice 1 and naming here:

  1. Search sits at the top of the nav. The frame puts it below the group list.
  2. The frame wraps the nav and groups in bordered cards with pin, info and calendar icons per group. We render plain sections with text headings.
  3. Identity and Shared nav entries are not drawn. They are the editor's other tabs, so they stay out of this surface.
  4. Counts differ (How I work 2 and Journal 2 vs the frame's 3 and 3). That is fixture data, not layout.
  5. The "Long-term memory" label repeats under How I work after the split. Cosmetic, known.
  6. Hover actions (pin, edit, more) and the 390 layout are slice 2.

Measurements: artboard-mode measure_after.js regenerates targets from the frame only and does not measure this build, so I have not pasted numbers from it. Prod-mode numbers need the deploy and COMMONLY_TOKEN, and come after merge.

Screenshots are local (gitignored .playwright-mcp dir), not on the PR yet.

GATE: HOLD
Reason: items 1 and 2 are visible layout differences from the frame. Lily or ux-lead should decide whether to match them in this PR or accept them as-is. The data gaps are accepted.

@lily-shen for the decision on items 1 and 2.

Self-review at ae56cfa (slice 1, 1440) against the D215 frame, #s-memory. Shots are the local dev build (vite on :3002) with a mocked owner index. They are local only, in the gitignored .playwright-mcp dir.

Now matches the frame, per the CTO ruling (11-01 01:4x):

  • Search sits at the foot of the group nav, under the group list, as in the frame.
  • Group titles use the frame's icons (pin for Rules, brain for How I work, calendar for Journal) in the frame's mono type.
  • Notes are inside bordered 12px-radius cards with 1px row dividers. Rows use the frame's 22px icon column and 11px/14px padding.
  • Journal rows use the frame's date column (70px) beside the text.
  • Light and dark show the same structure.

Still different from the frame, and named here:

  1. No active state on the group nav. The frame highlights Rules as the current group. Our anchors are plain, since the group nav doesn't track scroll.
  2. Journal date is sans-serif at 11.5px. The frame uses mono.
  3. Identity and Shared nav entries are not drawn. They are the editor's other tabs.
  4. No tags or recency: frame-minus-data per ruling. The section-level update time is slice 2.
  5. Hover actions (pin, edit, more) are not built. Those are slice 2.

Checks: frontend V2AgentMemory and i18n suites pass (41/41). CodeRabbit and CI at this head have not run yet. The GATE depends on those, so I will confirm them before the press.

Measurements: artboard-mode measure_after.js regenerates targets from the frame only, so it does not measure this build. The prod numbers come after deploy.

…ASK-690 slice 1)

Adds /v2/agents/:agent/:instance/memory, reached from the profile and
settings tab navs. Owner/admin memory index is grouped by section key;
the mapping lives in MEMORY_GROUPS. Non-owners see a denied notice.

…eading (TASK-690)

Rule-named headings (Rules, Never, Always, Don't) go under Rules; other
headings and the Overview preamble go under How I work. Soul leads Rules.
Empty groups are hidden. No API or schema change.

…ASK-690 slice 1)

Frame without tags and recency chips: the memory index has no tag or
updated-at data yet (slice 2 adds it).

The memory tab link added in slice 1 used the key without a locale entry,
which failed the migrated-component key manifest.

Found on a headless 1440 render of the tab: the three groups ran together
with no gap in the body column.

Search moves to the foot of the group nav, group icons and bordered list
cards follow the frame, and rows drop the per-note heading split.

Slice 1 at 7a479bc (restacked on origin/main; the stale-base guard is green). All 29 checks pass, and coderabbit-threads reports every thread answered. Self-review at the same head against the d215 #s-memory frame: the 1440 layout matches, with search at the foot of the nav, group icons and bordered cards per the CTO ruling. Prod measure numbers come after deploy, since artboard mode only regenerates targets.

Superseded by #3136 (TASK-732), which carries this behaviour onto the D223 rebuild of the memory surface. Closing without merging, per Lark.

samxu01 pushed a commit that referenced this pull request Nov 1, 2026
…urnal (TASK-732)

Carries the slice 1 and slice 2 memory work (#3085, #3131) onto main
without the old-structure drafts. Adds the owner Memory route, the group
split (Rules, How I work, Journal), the search, the section update line
per group, the collapsible 390 layout, and the additive section updatedAt
on the owner memory index. The frame restyle and the staging screenshot
diff are not in this commit yet.
