Summary

TASK-731 (D223 agent settings on the v2 primitives). The per-pod wake card is folded into one Wake table, matching the artboard's Wake row: pod, message wake, board, heartbeat, remove.

  • Pod cards become a single table, one row per installation.
  • The message-wake segment stays the only message-wake control.
  • Layout invariants point at the table's save and remove buttons.

Test plan

  • CI=true npx jest src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentWakePods.test.tsx src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentSettingsPage.test.tsx src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts (335 passed)
  • Frame diff at 1440 and 390 is pending a deploy of this head.

Walkthrough

The agent settings page now has an avatar-based header and updated tab order. The Wake and Pods component places per-installation links, wake settings, heartbeat controls, and removal actions in a table. Styles and tests reflect these layouts.

Changes: Agent settings and Wake and Pods

Layer / File(s) Summary
Agent settings header
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentSettingsPage.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-settings.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
The header displays the agent avatar and identity. The Memory tab appears before Settings. The header uses flex layout, and a layout test checks its alignment.
Installation table and validation
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentWakePods.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/v2-agent-wake-pods.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentSettingsPage.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentWakePods.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
The component groups per-installation controls and removal actions in a table. The CSS adds table styling and a stacked layout below 600px. Tests update their expectations and selectors for the table and controls.

Explanation

The title names the main change: the per-pod wake card is folded into one Wake table. The raw summary confirms V2AgentWakePods.tsx now renders one table per installation with pod, message-wake, board-wake, heartbeat, and remove controls. The title also carries a task identifier, which is acceptable.

HEAD 54f9846
GATE: PASS

Design + code review, light only per D215 (dark moves to TASK-680).

Checked

  • The per-pod wake cards are one Wake table: Pods, Messages, Board, Heartbeat, Remove. Columns and order match the agent-settings frame.
  • The mentions / people / all segment is kept. Its radios carry the same saves as before: Mentions only, Messages from people and Every message still write the same wakeOnMessage/humanOnly pairs (V2AgentWakePods tests). Heartbeat, interval and remove are unchanged in logic.
  • Tests at this head: V2AgentWakePods, V2AgentSettingsPage and layout invariants, 335/335. The edited expectations (columnheader "Pods", one "New pod" cell) follow the markup change, not a loosened check.
  • Rendered the table markup with the PR CSS at 1440 and 390: no horizontal overflow at either width.

Defects, to fix forward (none blocks, none touches saving)

  1. At 390 every cell gets the same top border, so one pod's rows are not told apart from the next pod's. Put a stronger rule or a gap between pods.
  2. Each cell repeats its column label ("Wake on board changes", "Heartbeat") beside the control. The frame shows a bare toggle under the header. At 1440 this makes rows about 140px tall against the frame's one line.
  3. The interval select and the turns/day hint show on every row, even with heartbeat off. The frame shows a compact "Off" select. Show them when heartbeat is on.
  4. Remove is a full text button. The frame uses a "Pod actions" icon button.
  5. The segment pills stack vertically at 1440. The frame's seg--sm stays on one line.

Not checked: staging frame diff (needs the signed-in operator run), and dark mode. Frames above came from my render of the component markup with approximated tokens, not the live page.

Keep the message-wake label on phones.

At 600px and below, this rule hides the only visible “Messages that wake it” label. The radio group’s aria-label does not display a replacement. Restore a visible label for each stacked row. Keep the table headers available to screen readers.

Add a presence test for the phone stacking rule in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts.

Handle the 601–760px table layout.

At 601px, the settings content leaves about 423px for the table, while the five-column layout remains active until 600px. The message and heartbeat controls can require more intrinsic width than this. The main pane also uses overflow: hidden, so the remove cell can be clipped. Stack the table at the wider breakpoint or add a contained horizontal scroller.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Exclude the remove button from the broad button rule.

V2AgentWakePods renders the remove button inside .v2-agent-wake-pods__pod. The broad selector has higher specificity than the remove selector, so it overrides color: var(--v2-text-secondary) with var(--v2-text-primary). The remove button therefore loses its secondary visual treatment.

The agent settings Wake section rendered one card per pod. The D223
artboard shows a single table, one row per pod, with the message-wake
segment, board switch, heartbeat select and actions in the row.

- Replace the pod cards with a table (pod, messages, board, heartbeat,
remove). The message-wake segment stays the only message-wake control.
- Update the pod-count and Pods-column assertions for the table.
- Point the layout invariants at the table's save and remove buttons.

The settings page opened with a page head that carried a floating "Your
team" link and a separate tab row. The D223 frame puts the avatar, name
and Profile / Memory / Settings tabs on one header row, the same header
the Memory page already uses.

- Replace the page head and the "Your team" action with the avatar header.
- Move the tabs into that header, with Settings as the current page.
- Pin the header row and its tabs in the layout invariants.

HEAD b881aad
GATE: HOLD

Re-gate after my PASS at 54f9846. Two changes since: 239ca60 (sr-only declarations, fine) and b881aad (agent settings avatar header with Profile / Memory / Settings). Light only per D215.

Defect (blocks): the new header's tab nav does not get the zeros it was given.

  • v2-agent-settings.css puts .v2-agent-settings__seg { margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; border-bottom:0 } before .v2-agent-settings__tabs { margin-top:16px; margin-bottom:20px; border-bottom:1px solid }. The nav carries both classes at equal specificity, so the later __tabs rule wins.
  • I reproduced the two rules and the nav markup in a browser at 1440. The nav computes margin-top 16px, margin-bottom 20px and a 1px bottom border. The header measures 105px against the 76px min-height the frame uses, and the tabs show an underline inside the bar.
  • The memory page avoided this with a higher-specificity selector (.v2-agent-memory-page .v2-agent-memory__seg). This one needs the same, or the zeros need to sit after the __tabs rule. The [aria-current] underline on the active tab will also fight the segment look; check it against the frame's seg.

Rest of the head change reads fine: avatar, name and tabs on one row, tab order Profile / Memory / Settings as on the Memory page, column body unchanged. I did not run the staging frame diff or dark mode.

Also in this range: the diff against my PASS carries main merges (#3163, #3166, #3168, a docs file and the working-in-turns skill), so the 10-file count is mostly not Kite's. Kite's own slice is the head files only.

Re-gate after the cascade fix.

GATE: HOLD

The header's segment rules were declared before the base tab rules at the
same specificity, so the tab margins and the current-page underline still
applied inside the header. Scope the header rules under the header so they
win, and pin the reset in the layout invariants.

HEAD 848b9ad
GATE: PASS

Re-gate after my HOLD at b881aad. The only change since is 848b9ad: the header zeros are now scoped under .v2-agent-settings__head, plus an [aria-current] reset there, and the invariant test follows.

Checked

  • I rebuilt the header with these rules in a browser at 1440. The tab nav computes margin 0 / 0, no bottom border, and the active tab has no underline. The header measures 76px, the frame's height (with the h1 margin reset that the page's ident rule applies).
  • The diff is CSS and one invariant test only. It adds no colour literals, so dark follows the tokens. I did not render dark.
  • Earlier PASS items stand: Wake table columns, message-wake segment saves, sr-only fix.

Fix-forward, unchanged from my first review (none blocks): pod rows run together at 390, cells repeat their column label, interval select shows with heartbeat off, Remove is a text button, segment pills stack at 1440.

Not checked: staging frame diff.

Use the installation profile avatar in the settings header.

The settings hook already receives userId and profilePicture from the installation endpoint. The header currently ignores both values and uses a different fallback seed. This can show a different avatar from the profile.

Declare these fields in AgentSettingsInstallation, then pass the profile source and the profile-compatible seed.

Add a component test for the settings-header order.

This change moves the tabs to Profile, Memory, Settings and places them beside the avatar and name. The existing header test checks CSS only. A later JSX reorder could therefore change keyboard and screen-reader navigation order without failing the test suite. CONTRIBUTING.md requires tests for changed behavior.

frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentWakePods.tsx:204-205
Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Name each message-wake group with its pod.

Each row has a message-wake group, but the group's accessible name is the same for every row: agentSettings.messageWake. The earlier markup gave each group a per-pod label. With several installations, a screen reader user who enters a group hears the same name for each one and cannot tell which pod it controls from the group alone. Table row context still names the pod, so the impact is limited to group-level navigation.

Suggested fix
                     <div className="v2-agent-wake-pods__choice" role="group" aria-busy={busyPod === entry.podId}
- aria-label={t('agentSettings.messageWake')}>
+ aria-label={`${t('agentSettings.messageWake')}: ${entry.podName}`}>

Assert the header’s wrapping rule.

The new header rule adds load-bearing flex sizing, but the layout-invariant test does not check it. Add an assertion for the implemented responsive behavior.

Rebases the lift onto main (squashed, one commit) so it applies on top of
#3169 (Wake table fold), #3167 (phone top bar) and the Control row.

- Avatar header with Profile / Memory / Settings tabs (ph, ahead, seg)
- Wake table lifted: gtitle with bolt and info, one cap in the header,
Mentions / People / All segment, board toggle, heartbeat select with Off
first, row-menu icon, phone accordion for each pod
- Identity & access list: Connection, Key (with key panels), Memory, How it
  runs (disc)
- Surface CSS in v2-agent-settings-surface.css; v2-agent-wake-pods.css deleted

Not built, named for the next slice: Talk to / More, Name / Listing /
Connectors / Skills rows, Regenerate menu, Add to pod. Policy, connector
grants, identity editing, runtime controls and the provider-key card stay
where they are until #3184 merges (option a).
