feat(agent-settings): one Identity & access list, matching the design frame - #3271
The agent settings page was a stack of separate sections: Identity, a listing card, How it runs, Connector grants, Policy and Skills, each with its own heading. The design frame (docs/design/artboards/d215, agent-settings at 1440 and 390) draws one Identity & access list instead, where each row opens its own editor in place. This lifts the page to that frame. Every existing control is still on the page, just behind its row.
The list, in frame order
Name. Shows the display name. Rename opens the existing name and persona form under the row.
Runtime key. A status dot, active or none, and when the newest key was last used. Key actions opens the existing key panel. The panel opens by itself whenever a one-time key, a confirm or an error is showing, so none of those can be hidden.
Connection. Shown only when it has something to say: revoked, stale, never connected, or a wrapper's machine-key regenerate. A healthy connection now shows in the header ("Connected · 3 pods", with a status dot).
Listing. Shows the status, with a link to the public profile. The owner's rename and retire controls sit behind Manage listing, which only the publisher sees.
Connectors. The active and ended counts, or None. A toggle opens the existing grants list with its revoke flow, and + links to the connectors page, which is where grants are made.
Memory. The note count and when it was last saved, from the same read the Memory tab uses. It shows nothing on a 403.
Skills. The count, or None. A toggle opens the existing skills panel.
How it runs. A disclosure, closed by default. Inside: machine placement, the runtime controls, your own key, and the repository and memory policy.
Header and phone
Header. Status dot and pod count, the tabs centred, and a Talk to button. Talk to now shares one hook with the Memory page.
Phone. A 52px top bar with back, avatar and name, and the tabs as a full-width row under it. Each row stays on one 48px line, with the value beside the label wrapping inside its own cell. The listing link folds to a 44px icon button.
Where it departs from the frame, and why
No More (⋯) button. Its only action, View public profile, is already the Profile tab and the Listing link, so a More button would have been a dead control.
Connectors +. It goes to the connectors page. Nothing in the frontend grants a connector to one agent directly.
Name, Listing and Skills stay on phone, though the 390 frame leaves them out. They're features, so they don't go away at a smaller width.
Checked
Real browser, on live data (a 3-pod agent, a viewer without key or memory access), at 1440 and 390, light and dark, and zh at 390. No horizontal overflow, and no phone target under 44px.
The rest of the 390 gap is mostly data: the frame's agent has 4 pods and this one has 3, which shifts every row below the Wake table. Name, Listing and Skills, kept on phone on purpose, count as extra regions.
the key panel opening itself on a one-time key or an error;
the Connection row, hidden when connected and shown with Reconnect when revoked;
a no-dead-buttons sweep;
the memory summary, and its absence on 403;
Talk to;
the phone bar.
Layout invariants pin the wrapper opt-out, the one-line phone row and the icon fold.
Reverse-verified by breaking the code and watching the tests fail: one-time-key auto-open, connected row hidden, Rename open by default, Skills panel hidden.
From review, fixed here. How it runs opens by itself when the machine placement needs a move or failed. A failed skills read opens the Skills panel. The phone header switches at 600px, the same width as the one-line phone rows. zh: 暂无 / 笔记 / 更新, adjudicated against the Memory tab's wording.
Follow-ups, not in this PR (inherited, visible once How it runs is open)
The nested lists inside How it runs draw a box inside a box.
The memory policy card prints the server's raw "Forbidden" to a viewer without access.
Connector grants say "Could not load" on a 403, where "you can't see this agent's grants" would be more honest.

…rame
The settings page stacked six separately headed sections (Identity, How it
runs, Connector grants, Policy, Skills, plus the key rows), so an owner had
to scroll past whole editors to see what an agent has. The frame draws one
list: one row per fact, each with its action, and the detail opens below the
row only when asked for.
- Header: the connection state and pod count sit under the name with a dot
that dims when the key is revoked or stale; tabs are centred; a Talk to
button opens the 1:1 room (shared with the Memory tab via useTalkToAgent).
No More button: its only candidate action, the public profile, is already
the Profile tab and the Listing row's link.
- Identity & access rows, in the frame's order: Name (Rename opens the name
and persona form), Runtime key (active plus last use; Key actions opens the
key list, regenerate, revoke and history, and stays open while a one-time
key, a confirm or an error is showing), Connection (only when it has
something to say: a revoked, stale or unknown connection, or a connected
CLI's machine-key route), Listing (status, public profile link, owner
controls behind a toggle only the publisher sees), Connectors (active
grant count, the grants list behind a toggle, and a link to the Connectors
page where grants are made), Memory (note count and last save from the
same index the Memory tab reads), Skills (count, panel behind a toggle),
and How it runs (a closed disclosure holding the machine placement,
runtime controls, own key and policy).
- The identity section is split into a Name row and a Listing row, and the
runtime/grants component into the How it runs body and a Connectors row.
Data logic is unchanged; only markup moved.
- Phone: a 52px bar with back to Your team, avatar, name and Talk to; the
tabs as a full-width row; every row stays reachable. New phone targets
are 44px and guarded in the layout invariants test.

Checked in a browser against the 390 frame. Two leftovers from the old page
inset and stacked the lifted one: the feature wrapper's padding (the route
now opts out, as the memory page does) and an old 16px phone padding on the
page itself. Rows stacked the value under the label; the frame keeps label,
value and action on one 48px line, so the value now sits beside the label
and wraps inside its own cell. The listing's "View public profile" folds to
an icon button on phone so the status keeps the row, and keeps its name.

The agent settings page is reorganized into responsive identity-and-access rows and expandable panels. It adds registry listing controls, separates connector grants from runtime controls, surfaces memory and skill counts, and adds shared room navigation. English and Chinese translations and layout and interaction tests are updated.

The name row provides a collapsible rename form. The listing row loads registry status and exposes listing edits and retirement controls to the publisher. Connection controls can hide connected agents and pass connection details to the page.
Runtime, connector, and agent actions frontend/src/v2/components/V2AgentRuntimeGrants.tsx, frontend/src/v2/components/V2AgentSkills.tsx, frontend/src/v2/agents/useTalkToAgent.ts, frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentMemory.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentRuntimeGrants.test.tsx
Runtime controls no longer load connector grants. A separate expandable Connectors row loads grants and handles revocation. Skills report their count, and the shared hook requests an agent room and navigates to it.
The page combines identity, access, memory, skills, and runtime content in responsive rows and panels. It adds memory note and update-time summaries, mobile navigation, translations, and layout and interaction coverage.

A failed skills load is invisible: the error sits inside a hidden panel.
V2AgentSkills stays mounted while the panel is closed, and its load error renders as a role="alert" paragraph inside #agent-skills-panel. That panel has hidden={!skillsOpen}. After a failed load, onCount(null) runs. The Skills row (Lines 431-434) renders nothing for a non-number count. The user sees a blank Skills row, with no error and no hint to open the panel.
Before this PR the Skills section was always visible, so this is a regression. The sibling V2AgentConnectorsRow avoids it: its panelOpen includes loadError, which forces the list open. This page needs the same behavior for skills.
Fix: force the panel open when skillCount === null. Declare the flag next to keyPanelOpen (around Line 296):
// A failed skills load reports null; keep the panel open so its alert stays in view.constskillsPanelOpen=skillsOpen||skillCount===null;
Add a test in V2AgentSettingsPage.test.tsx. Make the /api/skills/pods/ GET reject. Assert that the "Skills" region is present and shows the agentSkills.loadError alert without clicking the toggle. This test fails if the fix is reverted.
The sketch above fixes the line 437 aria-expanded and the line 443 hidden attribute. The second diff line is not on a line marked ~ by itself, so apply both as shown.

Review notes on the lift. A revoked or unbound machine used to show its
move control on page load; inside the closed How it runs disclosure it was
easy to miss, so the runtime body now tells the page when placement needs a
move or failed and the disclosure opens. A failed skills read opens the
Skills panel where its error and retry are, as Connectors already does.
The phone header switched at 767px while the one-line phone rows start at
600px, so between the two the page mixed both; the header now switches at
600px too. zh: 暂无 for an empty count, 笔记 for memory notes (the Memory

Review: PR #3271 at 40bf2936ff, one Identity & access list
I read every split or moved component against origin/main, and the test diffs. The touched suites (V2AgentSettingsPage, V2AgentRuntimeGrants, V2AgentControlSection, V2AgentListingRow) pass 87/87.
Behaviour preserved
Every control the old page had is still reachable and wired to the same handler:
name/persona save and its refusal mapping, all 7 refusal tests kept;
key regenerate, with the wrapper and disconnected guards; revoke confirm, the revoked-keys list and the one-time key. The panel is forced open while any of those, or an error, is pending;
listing owner rename/retire, forced open on error;
grant revoke and retry, forced open on error or a pending confirm;
machine move, runtime controls, provider key and policy, inside How it runs;
skills, whose panel stays mounted while closed;
the wake table and removing the last pod.
A draft survives collapsing a panel, and on agent switch every row remounts, so no state leaks between agents.
Connection row
Hidden while connected, except for a wrapper, which keeps the machine-key regenerate.
Shown with Reconnect when revoked, stale or never connected.
Nothing is rendered while the first read is in flight, so there's no wrong claim.
A failed read surfaces as an alert.
No connected agent is left without a way to act on a real problem.
Data reads
The memory summary is fetched once per identity, drops stale responses, and leaves the value blank on 403 or error rather than claiming 0. Its count matches the Memory tab.
The Skills onCount can't report the previous agent's count, and the skills panel loads once.
Notes (none blocking)
A load-time placement problem now sits inside the closed How it runs disclosure. A revoked or unbound machine, or a failed placement read, showed open on main. Open the disclosure when the body needs action.
A Skills load failure shows as a blank row. Open its panel, as Connectors does.
A forced-open panel's toggle does nothing. Either disable it or let a click dismiss the state.
Focus is lost in two places: after Done on a one-time key while the toggle is collapsed, and after Retry in Connectors.
The phone header switches at 767px, but the one-line rows and the listing-link fold switch at 600px. Align them.
aria-controls on the conditionally rendered panels points at a missing id while closed. That's acceptable with aria-expanded="false".
Accessibility, tests, CSS
Every icon-only control is named. The folded phone link keeps its name, and a test pins that.
No behaviour assertion was weakened, and the old section-order test was replaced by a stricter exact-order one.
CSS is scoped under the route's opt-out class and the page class, uses tokens only, and pins the 44px phone targets.

…ter the fix
The disclosure was controlled by the attention flag, so when a move
succeeded and the flag cleared, it snapped shut over the "running on"
confirmation. It now opens when the body starts needing action and leaves
closing to the person.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_015AKgpMD6Qh13f7fj6mbGT3
I read the five-file delta from 40bf2936. V2AgentSettingsPage and V2AgentRuntimeGrants pass 73/73.
The controlled open on How it runs fights the person in one case. React writes open only when the prop changes. So a close made by the person holds while the flag is true, and an open made by the person holds while it is false. But when the flag goes from true to false, React removes open. Concretely: a revoked machine auto-opens the disclosure, the owner clicks Move, the move succeeds, the flag clears, and the disclosure snaps shut over the "Running on New Mac" confirmation. Nothing is lost and nothing false is shown, so this is a note. Fix it by latching on the rising edge: keep the <details> uncontrolled and set ref.current.open = true when the flag rises.
The attention effect can't loop. It re-runs only when the boolean flips. The callback is a stable state setter that bails out on the same value. The flag resets on an identity change, and the body is keyed by identity.
The rest of the delta:
skillsShown is correct, and hidden and aria-expanded both follow it. One note: the comment says "where the error and retry are", but the panel shows the error and has no retry.
The 600px breakpoint now matches the CSS and the test mock.
I read the two-file delta from cdbdc255. V2AgentSettingsPage passes 49/49.
The ref is never null when the flag rises. The flag can only rise from inside V2AgentRuntimeBody, which renders inside the <details>. React attaches refs during commit, before effects run, so runsRef.current is already set when the page's [runsNeedAttention] effect reads it.
A remount while the flag is true can't strand the disclosure closed.
The list unmounts only in the early-return states (loading, keys not ready for this identity, no access).
Each of those needs an identity change, and that change also resets the flag to false.
So the new body's true is a real rising edge, and the effect runs after the new <details> has mounted.
The latch. The <details> has no open prop now, so React never writes it. Only the person or an unmount closes it. The page effect sets no state, so it can't loop.
The new test proves the fix. It auto-opens on a revoked machine, makes a successful Move, then checks the confirmation is visible and the disclosure is still open. Putting the controlled open back fails it.
Other changes. The skills comment now matches the code. No other code changed, and no assertions were removed. Notes 3, 4 and 6 from the first review stay as follow-ups.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.

Clear the previous pod’s skills before deciding whether to open the panel.
306-307: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Clear the previous pod’s skills before deciding whether to open the panel.
If removing the current pod makes refresh() select another pod, V2AgentSkills stays mounted. If the new pod’s skills read then fails, the component can report its retained, nonzero skill count instead of null. skillsShown remains false, so the error stays hidden and the row shows the previous pod’s count. Remount V2AgentSkills when podId changes, or clear its skills when the request scope changes. Add a test for a failed read after switching pods. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
