Artifacts is rebuilt to the frames approved on 11-03 (#s-artifacts-signal in the d215 artboard). It also follows the 11-04 consistency rulings: the page uses Activity's head bar and the 12px phone gutter. This is the last of the four approved pages; handoff, task record and Activity have merged.

What the page is now

  • Files by pod. The six-column table becomes one group per pod: a mono pod label over one hairline list.
  • Rows. Each row shows the extension badge, the name, " · " and the size at the end.
  • Row actions. On hover or focus, Open and Download keys take the size's place.
  • Phone (390). The size moves into the row's line, Download is the row's single 44px key, and search becomes the top bar's key.
  • Filters. The two pill groups become one kind segment (V2Segmented) and one native pod select styled as the frame's .sel.
  • Head. Activity's head bar (.v2p-ph), with an 11.5 mono count. At 390 it's 52px with a 21px title.
  • Day zero. One quiet row with one key.
  • Styles. Artifacts' rules move out of v2.css into components/V2ArtifactsPage.css.

Unchanged: Open, the lightbox, the signed URLs, sorting, filters, the URL params and whenLabel.

New: Download, because the frame draws it. It requests the signed URL (GET), then saves the bytes under the stored name. If the bytes can't be read, it opens the URL instead. A test asserts that every request it makes is a GET.

Artboard

  • The Artifacts signal frames drop data-state and become the scored artifacts-busy and artifacts-dayzero frames. The traced frames and their CSS are gone.
  • targets.json now holds 48 entries.
  • measure_after.js now checks both activity-busy and artifacts-busy on prod.
  • The README provenance table has three groups now; the "being retired" group was emptied.

Where the build differs from the frame

  • Phone segment items: 40px inside a 44px segment, level with the select. Activity does the same.
  • Row name: the button is 20px tall, but its click area covers the whole 58–60px row.

Tests

  • Full src/v2 src/i18n: 2689 pass. The d215 scorer test passes 16/16. tsc reports no errors under src/.
  • 8 mutations, each restored, and each fails a test: the head class, the count size, both phone gutters, the phone title, the zh tracking, Download sent as a POST, and the shared bar put back in v2.css.

Browser check: own-origin dev:live against prod, read-only, at 1440 and 390, light and dark, plus zh at 390, for both busy and day zero.

  • Page overflow is 0 everywhere.
  • The Artifacts and Activity heads measure the same at 390.
  • A Download click sent only GET /api/uploads/<file>/url.

…nd score them

The six-column table becomes one group per pod: a mono label over one hairline list.
Each row has the extension badge, the name, "<agent> · <when>" and a trailing size.
Hovering or focusing a row shows Open and Download keys in the size's place. At 390
the size folds into the line and Download is the one 44px key. The two pill groups
become one kind segment (V2Segmented) and one native pod select dressed as the
frame's .sel. At 390 search is the top bar's key. Day zero is one quiet row with one
key. Open, the lightbox, the signed URLs, sorting, filters, the URL params and
whenLabel are unchanged. Download is new: it saves the signed URL's bytes under the
stored name, and opens the URL instead when the bytes can't be read.

The artboard's signal frames lose data-state and become the scored artifacts-busy and
artifacts-dayzero frames. The traced frames and their CSS go, targets.json gains the
four entries, and measure_after.js measures artifacts-busy on prod.

… is 12px

The consistency rulings (11-04) win over the build brief:
- The head is the shared .v2p-ph bar Activity uses: 64px, a hairline under
  it, Bricolage 24/800 at -0.72px, 28px in, the count in Plex Mono 11.5/500.
  At 390 it is 52px with a 21px title, 12px in, as on Activity. The page's
  own copies of the bar, title and spacer rules go, and zh drops the
  title's negative tracking, as Activity does.
- The phone side gutter is 12px, not 16.
- Download makes its one read an explicit GET, and a test asserts every
  request it makes is a GET.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 64b05

The Artifacts redesign and Download action look safe to merge. Remaining gaps are minor: the download fallback tab can be blocked by popup blockers, hybrid touch devices may not see the row actions, wide-touch action buttons are small, and the scorer's trim step is not exercised by its test. None blocks the main workflow.

Download is unreachable on touch devices wider than 760px.

.v2a-hv is display: none until :hover or :focus-within. The phone block shows it at rest only under max-width: 760px.

A tablet in portrait is wider than 760px. On such a device, the .v2a-name::after overlay covers the whole row, so a tap opens the file. The Download key stays hidden. This breaks the new Download action on touch devices wider than 760px.

Show the keys at rest when the primary input cannot hover.

Proposed fix
 .v2a-file:hover .v2a-size, .v2a-file:focus-within .v2a-size { display: none; }
+@media (hover: none) {
+  .v2a-hv { display: flex; padding: 0; background: transparent; box-shadow: none; }
+  .v2a-file .v2a-size { display: none; }
+}

The layout-invariants test pins the hover rules, so keep those lines unchanged. In this case the .v2a-size hide on hover: none also removes the size column on tablets. Fold the size into .v2a-sn for that case if the size must stay visible.

Based on learnings: for a layout change, capture the production build at "intermediate breakpoints changed by the patch". Add a width above 760px with touch to that capture.

Make the ⌘K hint match the field it labels.

The ⌘K key cap on the artifacts search field does not focus this input. The only ⌘K / Ctrl+K handler found in the frontend is in V2PodsSidebar.tsx. It focuses the pod sidebar's "Search pods" box. The artifacts <input> has no ref or id, so no shortcut reaches it. A user who presses ⌘K on this page does not get focus in the artifacts search.

Either remove the hint, or add a page-level handler that focuses this input.

Keep the download fallback independent of a later user gesture.

window.open runs only after signed-URL retrieval, fetch, and blob processing. If that path fails, popup blocking can prevent the fallback from opening. Use same-tab navigation only when the signed response is guaranteed to use Content-Disposition: attachment; otherwise open a blank tab synchronously from the click handler and navigate it after the asynchronous work fails.

The download test never asserts object-URL cleanup.

The test mocks URL.revokeObjectURL, but it does not assert that saveFile calls it with blob:artifact. If the revoke line is removed, this test still passes. The blob would then stay alive until the document unloads.

Assert the revoke call after the click. The revoke runs in setTimeout(..., 0), so wrap it in waitFor.

Proposed fix
     await waitFor(() => expect(clicked).toEqual([{ href: 'blob:artifact', download: 'plan.md' }]));
+    await waitFor(() => expect(URL.revokeObjectURL).toHaveBeenCalledWith('blob:artifact'));

As per path instructions: "A test that would still pass with the fix reverted is not a test."

Add a test that fails when artifacts-busy leaves the prod surface list.

The count assertion at line 42 still passes if artifacts-busy is removed from PROD_SURFACES. The test at line 102 checks only that prod surfaces are known surfaces. No test names artifacts-busy, so the prod measurement for /v2/artifacts is not guarded. The route table is not exported, so a test cannot check it without an export or extraction.

Suggested test for the prod surface list
+test('prod surfaces include the artifacts busy frame', () => {
+  assert.ok(PROD_SURFACES.includes('artifacts-busy'));
+});

Covering the route table needs measure_after.js to export it. Covering the /v2/artifacts check at both viewports needs a browser run and is outside a unit test.

Comment thread docs/design/artboards/d215/targets.json Resolved
…eat, keys on touch, a one-line error

From the review of #3376:
- Download saves under a cleaned name. Path separators, the characters a
  file system refuses, control characters and leading dots are dropped,
  CJK is kept, and the stored file name is the fallback.
- The object URL is revoked after 1s instead of at once, which some
  browsers treat as a cancelled download. The revoke is now tested: a
  test fails without it.
- Wide touch screens (hover: none, above 760px) show Open and Download,
  which were hover-only before. A presence guard covers it.
- The error is memory's one-line state: 13.5 secondary text, no icon, no
  list box. The filtered-empty line is 13.5 secondary as well.

Review round (D218) at f19c571, covering code, design, layout and zh-CN. The review ran at 24afe6f. The commit since then fixes the four review points that mattered: the download filename, the revoke, touch keys and the error state.

Behaviour parity with main

  • These are unchanged: the /api/pods and /api/artifacts reads, cursor paging and de-duplication, the debounced q/kind/podId URL params, newest-first sort, the open path (lightbox for images, a noopener signed URL otherwise), and the loading, error, filtered-empty and day-zero conditions.
  • These changed:
    • Rows are grouped by pod, in first-seen order.
    • The Kind and Pod columns are replaced by the extension badge and the group label.
    • The pod pills plus "more ▾" become one native select. An unknown URL podId keeps its own option.
    • On phones, search sits behind the top-bar key and the name opens the file.
    • Download is new.

Download

  • Every request is a GET. The mint request carries the auth header and the file read does not, so no token reaches the file host.
  • The signed URL is served by the API host itself, with Content-Disposition set by type.
  • If the bytes can't be read, the signed URL opens in a new tab.
  • The saved name drops path separators, characters a file system refuses and control characters, keeps CJK, and falls back to the stored name.
  • The object URL is revoked after 1s, and a test fails without the revoke.

Design

  • Layout matches the frames at 1440 and 390, busy and day zero, light and dark.
  • Icons are SVG, there are no rails, and every value is a token.
  • The head matches Activity's: 64/52px, Bricolage 24/800 at -0.72px (21 at 390), and a mono 11.5 count.
  • Errors use the one-line state.
  • Wide touch screens keep Open and Download visible.

Artboard: the scorer test passes 16/16. targets.json has 48 entries. SCORED, SKIPPED, PROD_SURFACES and the README agree, and no traced frames or data-state="signal" are left.

zh-CN: {{count}}个文件 follows the repo's count style, Pod keeps its half-width spaces, and 打开 and 下载 follow the glossary.

Tests

  • jest src/v2 src/i18n: 2691 pass. tsc: 0 errors under src/.
  • Mutations, each restored:
    • removing the fallback fails a test;
    • sorting groups by name fails 2;
    • removing the revoke fails 1;
    • removing the touch rule fails 1.
  • Calling the sanitiser is only covered by its unit test: no fixture name needs cleaning.

Layout browser check: own-origin vite against prod, read-only, /v2/artifacts busy (prod data, 50 rows in 2 groups) and day zero (fixture), at 1440 and 390, light and dark, plus zh. Page overflow is 0 everywhere. The 390 gutter is 12px. Every control except the row name is at least 44px tall; segment items are 40px inside a 44px segment. A Download click sent only GETs.

Follow-ups (non-blocking): Activity's shared desktop count is 12px against the 11.5 ruling. .v2a-kb uses a literal 5px radius.

GATE: PASS

…ured at the frame's six rows

From CodeRabbit on #3376, both points are real:
- The check scored whatever was on /v2/artifacts. An error or a spinner
  could score a HIT, and so could an empty account. It now refuses the
  error line and the spinner, and any list shorter than the six rows the
  frame draws.
- Prod returns up to 50 rows and the frame draws six, so the scroll
  target would MISS on a correct page. Rows after the sixth, and any
  group left with no rows, are removed before measuring, the same way
  chat's scroll target applies its fold.

The fake-page test covers the refusal, the short list and the trim. A
mutation that drops the length check fails it.

Re-stamp (D218) at 64b0595. The PASS at f19c571 carries over, because this commit only answers CodeRabbit on the scorer.

The Artifacts prod check now refuses the error line, the spinner, and any list shorter than the frame's six rows. It then measures the first six rows, and drops any group left empty. The same fold is applied to chat's scroll target.

Tests: node --test cap/measure_after.test.js 17/17. Dropping the length check fails one test. No app code changed.

Enlarge the wide-touch action targets.

Above 760px, Open and Download use adjacent 28×28px buttons with a 2px gap. A missed Download tap can activate Open instead. Enlarge their touch targets to 44×44px and add a layout invariant. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Based on learnings: “Flag a touch target below 44×44px” unless it has sufficient spacing or an equivalent target.

Keep the existing hover-none condition when adding coarse-pointer devices.

The (hover: none) query misses a wide hybrid device whose primary pointer can hover but which also has a coarse pointer. On such a device, the .v2a-hv wrapper can stay hidden unless hover or focus applies. This can hide Download. Changing the query to (any-pointer: coarse) alone would hide the keys on wide devices that report hover: none with only a fine pointer. Keep the current condition and add the coarse-pointer condition as an alternative:

Report signed-URL mint failures and keep the URL fallback.

getSignedAttachmentUrl can return null when minting fails, and saveFile currently returns without feedback. It can also reject before the existing try, so the Download click creates an unhandled rejection. Move the signed-URL await into the try, report the failure when no URL is available, and call window.open only when a URL exists. Use a distinct download-error state and localized message instead of the list-load error state.

Test the DOM changes made by the trim callback.

The fake records arg but never runs fn. Replacing the trim callback body with an empty function would leave this test passing, even though production would measure all rows. Run the callback against a DOM fixture and assert that six rows and only nonempty groups remain. No mutation was run for this review.

As per path instructions: “A test that would still pass with the fix reverted is not a test.”

…prod check measures Activity at its frame (Team-Commonly#3381)

The d215 prod check for activity-busy missed by a wide margin on prod
(1347 helper words against a target of 94, and scroll 29.9× against 1×).
Two causes.

The scorer measured the whole history. Needs you pages itself through
every open item, which is 429 on lily-shen, and the frame draws 4. The
Artifacts guard from Team-Commonly#3376 is now a per-surface table, BUSY. For Activity
it refuses the error line and the spinner, refuses a list shorter than
the frame, and then measures 4 Needs you rows and 5 Moved forward lines.
The table is keyed by surface name, so the prod surface list can't drop
it.

The page drew whole agent posts in Moved forward: at 390 a line ran five
rows, with raw ** and backticks. The frame draws one sentence. Each line
now:
- reads the post as plain text: link text kept, markdown marks and list
  bullets dropped (snake_case survives);
- marks a post the recap clipped at 180 characters with an ellipsis, and
  drops any mark the clip left unpaired;
- stops at two rows (line clamp).

After the fix, measured against prod data (own-origin vite, read-only):
activity-busy HITs at 1440 (32/94, scroll 1) and at 390 (28/84, scroll
1.23/1.31). Page overflow is 0 in light and dark at both widths.
artifacts-busy-390 is one helper word over its target (35/34) because the
data has two-word author names. That's left as it is.

Follow-up from the review round, folded in:
From the review of the previous commit:
- The two-row clamp hides the end of a long line, so the line carries the
  full author and text as its title.
- Agent posts arrive with their whitespace already folded. Mid-line
  headings are dropped, a list reads "Done: a - b - c", and a test now
  uses that folded shape.
- A post that is only a code fence keeps the code's words, not an empty
  line. A link the 180-character clip cut keeps its text. A clip that
  splits an emoji drops the lone half before the ellipsis.
- Emphasis underscores are matched against any letter (\p{L}), so 中_文
  survives, and __init__.py stays a file name.
- The scorer test pins each BUSY selector and checks it is a real class
  in the page source. A mistyped refusal selector now fails it.
