A pass on a borderline survey is a missed review, not an unsafe pass, so unsafe always means the survey shows the spot breaks a rule. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

…gainst the tape evals/field.py turns one Measure Lab session into scoring-harness results files for MoGe-2 at its own scale, rescaled by triangulation with the session's AR poses, and scaled by the survey's taped reference. Each point the rig made from taps is re-placed from depth at the tapped pixel, and walls and values are recomputed with Measure Lab's own formulas, so every row answers the same survey measurements. It also reports the phone's AR scale error against the tape. make field runs it with PR #4's scorer. Verified on a hand-computed synthetic session through PR #4's own scorer, and on the ADVIO replay, which has no taps or survey. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
… make field FIELD_SHEET.md fixes the tap and measure order so Measure Lab's M numbers match map.template.json. make field now stamps the survey (tape readings typed as the tape shows them, the zip's sha256) and a per-session map, pins PR #4's harness at 77ce830, and quotes paths (the checkout path has a space). make field-dryrun runs it on a synthetic session in the sheet's order: the planted 1.5% AR scale error comes back as -1.50% +- 0.68%, and all four rows score. The dry run also caught a divide-by-zero on the zero-length return gap, fixed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

The experiment-format and permanent-protocol requests are addressed in 336c591, on head 0f3e753. README is about 200 words; FORMATS.md and METRICS.md hold the references, and results/synthetic-01 contains generated synthetic output with its command. main is merged without conflicts. Current CI run 36283825569 passes, as do 274 local tests and Ruff. The PR description now carries the corrected importer numbers. CodeRabbit head review remains pending the shared repository queue; this is not a merge-ready recommendation yet. |
|
Disposition of the walkthrough’s retained architecture concerns, marked reviewed only through 77ce830: this experiment imports completed local exports under one writer. Concurrent replacement of a ZIP and concurrent writers to the same output are outside that contract; copy or finish the export before import. A checksum identifies bytes, not authorship. Atomic output publication is a reasonable follow-up, but an interrupted partial JSON fails the scorer’s strict parser rather than becoming a score. I am not blocking this PR on concurrent-writer support. The input-alias protection and bounded hashing fixes are in 336c591. I also decline the generic 80% docstring target: it is not a repository-required check, and restating self-explanatory tests/functions would conflict with the repository writing rules. This does not count as a current-head CodeRabbit review. |

Current-head CodeRabbit review completed on 0f3e753 with no actionable inline comments. Its CSV architecture note is valid as a consumer risk: text identifiers are preserved verbatim in the machine-readable reports, so those reports are not spreadsheet-formula-safe. This local experiment expects team-owned inputs and does not evaluate CSV cells. Import untrusted reports as text, not by opening them with formula evaluation enabled. I accept that restriction for this PR rather than change identifiers or numeric CSV contracts. Spreadsheet-safe export can be a separate explicit mode if needed. The existing single-writer/complete-export and docstring dispositions still apply. |
|
Main-track readiness checkpoint at 2026-09-27 01:14 UTC: head 0f3e753 is open, non-draft and mergeable with main included. All three reported checks pass. CodeRabbit completed its incremental review through this exact SHA with no actionable comments; the whole PR diff and bot-excluded fixture ZIP/CSV evidence have also been reviewed. All seven inline threads are resolved. Local verification is 274 passing tests plus Ruff lint/format; generated fixtures contain no real captures or private material. The PR body is current and records the accepted raw-CSV/single-writer limits. Ready for a person’s merge decision. The watch remains active; later head changes invalidate this checkpoint. No merge or auto-merge action was taken. |

1030edb fixes the two Aikido importer findings: strict endpoint/quantity validation and a bounded session.json read after capture-hash verification. The 16 MiB limit is a chosen safety bound, not calibrated against real captures. All 303 tests pass locally and Scoring CI run 36294760081 passes. Aikido removed the original inline comments, so they can no longer receive replies. Root check integration remains in #90. Current-head CodeRabbit coverage is still pending. |

What changed
Lane D needs one comparison per capture method: how far each method's distances are from a tape survey, and whether any error would have put a battery somewhere it does not belong. This PR adds
experiments/scoring, a standalone uv project with two commands.scorereads a rules file (named thresholds withrules.yamlnames), one tape survey per house, and one results file per pipeline run. It prints a markdown summary per house and writesmeasurements.csv,checks.csvandruns.csvtodata/.score import-measure-labturns a Measure Lab session zip (session format 2) into a results file, using a map the team writes after the walk. It converts meters to feet and uses the zip's sha256 as the capture id. With--decide, it adds a+rulerow whose outcomes apply the survey's rule to the rig's own values.A
scoring.ymlworkflow runs the same four checks asserver.yml, filtered toexperiments/scoring/**. The short README links to the input reference in FORMATS.md, the definitions in METRICS.md, and generated synthetic output under results/.What the numbers mean
Distances. Signed and absolute error in inches, median and maximum per house, and whether the survey lies inside the run's reported ±. Missing outputs stay in a fixed denominator, split into unsupported, failed, wrongly absent, phantom and not surveyed. The house's scale reference is left out of every error figure, because a run scaled to it matches it by construction.
Survey outcome. Strict, following
docs/00-overview.md("Every check answers PASS, FAIL or UNSURE"). With margin s and survey uncertainty u, a check passes when s > u, fails when s < −u, and is borderline otherwise. The route uses a band: pass when L + u <review_route_ft, fail when L − u >max_route_ft, review otherwise. A value exactly on a line never passes or fails.Error could flip. |error| / max(distance to the nearest line, u) is at least 1. This is an error-size indicator, not a comparison of decisions. A false result does not establish agreement.
Wrong answers. Three categories mean the same for every check:
The protocol note counts a borderline pass as unsafe. Here it is a missed review, so "unsafe" always means the survey shows a rule is broken. These categories are not exhaustive; for example, a fail against a review-band survey lowers agreement without entering one of them.
Decided without its measurement. A pass or fail whose deciding value is missing as failed or unsupported, or a claimed absence on an
at_mostlimit or anat_leastfail. It is scored as usual and also counted and listed by name. Why these choices
Exact decimals. Checks compare survey values with thresholds, and ties must land the same way every time. In floats, 3.1 − 3.0 is 0.10000000000000009, which would pass a 3.1 ± 0.1 ft clearance against a 3 ft rule that is exactly borderline.
Strict inputs. A mistyped survey should stop the run, not silently drop a row and change a score. The loader rejects unknown fields, duplicate keys,
NaN, lengths written as strings, and runs that skip or invent a measurement or outcome. Each error names the file, field path and fix, for exampletruth.json: measurements[1] (c1-gas).value_ft: expected a number, got the string '4.5'.The loader also enforces three consistency rules:
A pipeline's decisions are never rejected, only scored and flagged, because the harness measures what pipelines actually do.
Measure Lab import. Uncertainty must be stated in the map, because the code has no default. The example uses the plan's ±0.3 ft for AR taps and labels it an untested estimate. A measurement the rig did not accept becomes missing
failed. A mapped key must be the measurement'scomparedquantity, the oneacceptedvouches for. The importer loads its output through the scorer before writing it, hashes large archives in 1 MiB chunks, and refuses output paths that alias an input. The importer validates endpoint IDs and the exact quantity set allowed by each geometry. It checks the archive hash against the survey before opening the zip and caps decompressed session.json at 16 MiB, a chosen safety bound with no real-capture calibration. Route maps must explicitly say unsupported because a wall-axis projection is not a cable path. Review bands must have nonzero width. Fixture rule sources link to pinned historical lines. Anabsentmap entry is an operator observation, never an inference from a missing measurement.Report output. Both CLIs refuse output paths that alias an input, including symlinks and hardlinks. The scorer checks all three CSV destinations before any write. Markdown escaping preserves table and line boundaries without restricting valid identifiers; CSV values remain unchanged.
Standard library only. No runtime dependencies. pytest and ruff are dev dependencies, as in
server/.Verification
In
experiments/scoring:uv sync --locked,uv run ruff check .anduv run ruff format --check .pass.uv run pytest -q: 347 passed locally at a575437, with Ruff clean. Scoring CI run 36295970779 passes at that head. Regression tests cover multi-chunk archive hashing, output/input aliases, and synthetic measurements recomputed from their endpoint coordinates. The tests check every metric against hand-worked answers, including:at_leastrule, anat_mostrule and the route band, with u = 0 and u > 0;session.jsonbyte for byte.ar-tapsphoto-depthmesh-scaledmeasure-labmeasure-lab+rulear-tapsphoto-depthmesh-scaledmeasure-labmeasure-lab+ruleThese numbers come from invented fixtures that exercise each metric. They say nothing about any real pipeline.
Risk
Final non-safety review follow-ups: scoring: preserve backslash-pipe IDs in Markdown tables #113 covers backslash-pipe rendering, scoring: reject aliases between generated CSV destinations #114 aliases between generated CSVs, scoring: classify evidence-based abstentions without survey truth #115 abstention counts without survey truth, and scoring: include refusal timestamps in capture duration #116 refusal timestamps in capture duration. Use a fresh output directory to avoid scoring: reject aliases between generated CSV destinations #114. None changes decision outcomes or bypasses source-input protection.
Non-safety review follow-ups: scoring: distinguish repeated pipeline runs by capture in Markdown #97 adds capture IDs to repeated pipeline labels in Markdown; scoring: define and enforce session-measurement reuse in maps #98 defines session-measurement reuse across map entries. CSV capture attribution is intact.
CSV text is preserved verbatim and is not spreadsheet-formula-safe. Use team-owned inputs, or import untrusted reports as text with formula evaluation disabled.
Everything in
fixtures/is synthetic. The rules fixture uses public values from the feature map (3 ft gas, 20 ft from the meter) and labels the rest, including the 15 ftreview_route_ft, as synthetic placeholders.Spot placement error and cold and warm latency are not scored.
CONTRIBUTING.md's checks table does not list the new workflow, because this PR stays insideexperiments/scoring/and the workflow file.Checklist
