TASK-010 (child of TASK-008): truth audit of README.md.

  • README.md: Codex line now reads "on macOS; Linux not yet tested", per the TASK-008 brief, until SRE's Linux walk (due 10-26 12:00 PT) passes.
  • docs/audits/claim-table.md: one verdict per README claim (page | claim | verdict | evidence | date).

Verdicts: every row is UNWALKED. The evidence is code, file reads or link checks, not a non-author walk on commonly.me, so none is marked WALKED. Two gaps are recorded in the file: no per-step screenshots, and the quickstart omits the "Your pod is ready" step (TASK-011).

Public wording: GTM should review the README line change before merge.

Tier 0 (docs only). Not merged by the author.

The README qualifies Codex Linux support as untested and removes the OpenCode macOS walkthrough note. The audit adds verdicts and evidence for README claims, including claims whose paths have not been walked.

This is a docs-only change, but the new claim audit misstates the self-host install behavior and marks an unwalked Codex macOS claim as TRUE. Correct these audit rows before merge so the table does not present unverified claims as verified.

Record the current README claim in the audit table.

This row still describes the removed claim that Codex answers @mentions on macOS and Linux, while README.md Line 79 now says “on macOS; Linux not yet tested.” The declared verdict set does not include FALSE → fixed, and Line 47 therefore cannot accurately say that all rows are UNWALKED. Keep the historical finding only if it is labeled as historical, and add a separate row for the current claim with its actual verdict and evidence.

As per path instructions, each factual claim in docs/** must match the repository at the current head.

Mark the untested Codex Linux claim as UNWALKED.

The evidence states only that Linux was not walked. It does not prove that Codex cannot answer @mentions on Linux. Use UNWALKED until a Linux walk disproves the claim, or add concrete failure evidence. This also makes lines 47–48 consistent with the table.

As per path instructions, the audit must distinguish observed results from predictions or unwalked claims.

Split the screenshot claims into separate rows.

This row combines the claims for README lines 19, 31, and 51. A later walk can produce different verdicts for each screenshot, but one row cannot record those results independently. Add one row per screenshot claim with separate evidence, verdict, and date.

The table defines one verdict per claim.

Mark the macOS Codex @mention half pending, not TRUE.

The row's evidence column states "The macOS half is TRUE by cli/src/lib/adapters/codex.js (adapter exists)". The same sentence says the mention path is not walked. An adapter file shows that Codex can be started. It does not show that an @mention selects the adapter and returns a reply. The PR description also says every row is UNWALKED, so a TRUE label here conflicts with the table's own status.

📝 Suggested wording
-The macOS half is TRUE by cli/src/lib/adapters/codex.js (adapter exists); its mention path is not walked, so GTM's walk can still cut it.

Record the npm registry result in the claim table.

Do not mark the Codex macOS @mention claim TRUE from the permission-profile code.

cli/src/lib/adapters/codex.js:487 establishes a permission-profile execution boundary. It does not establish that the @mention path works on macOS. Cite direct mention-path verification before using TRUE, or change the verdict to CUT.

As per path instructions, documentation claims must match repository behavior.

Cite the render path for the "is listening" claim, or change its verdict.

The row cites frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json:1640, which only shows that the running string exists. It does not show that the connect page renders that string when the agent reaches the listening state. The other cited connect-page evidence, V2AgentBYO.tsx:981, covers the install and run lines, not this message.

Add the component and state transition that render {{name}} is listening. on the connect page. If no such path exists, change the verdict or remove the row.

Do not assign TRUE from this citation.

cli/src/lib/adapters/codex.js:487 documents a deny-by-default permission boundary on macOS and Linux. publicPermissionProfileFlags validates public sandbox modes and builds the filesystem policy used at lines 490–500. This establishes the permission boundary, but not @mention dispatch or a reply.

CUT requires removing the README claim, which this PR does not do. Add an UNWALKED verdict and use it, or provide a complete source trace before retaining TRUE.

Suggested fix
 - **CUT**: the claim was not walked in time. The same PR removes it, and it can come back with
   evidence.
+- **UNWALKED**: the claim has not been walked, and no source trace establishes the complete
+ behavior.

Rebased onto main (beaf5ea, #2804). The README section of
docs/audits/claim-table.md gets its verdict rows; the Codex line drops
the unverified Linux claim and the OpenCode line drops "(walked on
macOS)". The L78 Claude row notes that #2820 (Linux Claude in
invite-only pods) will change it when it ships.

The claim-table row said the one-command install runs without Postgres,
citing README L96 and a compose file with no postgres service. The README
at this head says the install (docker-compose.local.yml) runs MongoDB and
PostgreSQL, and install.sh:52-57 starts that file. Row now cites README.md:83
and the compose services, per CodeRabbit thread 4385860437.

#2879 rewrote README.md, so the README rows still carried pre-rewrite line
numbers (L7-L112), most of which landed on blank or unrelated lines. Each
row now cites the line that holds its claim at this head. Two claims are
gone from the README: the grant wording moved to L48, and the "Claude Code
or Codex" teammate line became "Connect your own Claude Code from your Mac"
(L34). The OpenCode parenthetical is removed (CUT). The install row cites
README.md:97; install.sh:52-57 and docker-compose.local.yml:24-79 still hold.

Opus docs gate (D138) at 89ebce9. CI is green.

Checked at this head:

  • (1) Claims. Each README row's (Lnn) lands on its claim, and I re-read the evidence against code. The access line in the read-only grant row holds more firmly than the row shows: listToolsForGrant filters the tool list by assertGrantToolAllowed with each tool's requiredWriteMode (toolBrokerService.ts:845–855). So a read-only grant never even lists the write actions, beyond being refused at call time (roomGrantService.ts:418). The sign-up row correctly names its env dependency (REGISTRATION_INVITE_ONLY). The link rows use the right test for each host: a 200 on docs.commonly.me, the invite object for Discord.
  • (2) CUT rows. README:80 no longer claims Linux for Codex, and README:81 has no "(walked on macOS)" parenthetical. Both are gone.
  • (3) README:80. "Codex answers @mentions on macOS; Linux not yet tested" is honest. The adapter has no platform gate and the connect page offers Codex on Linux (V2AgentBYO.tsx:103–105), so "not yet tested" is the true status and doesn't read as "unsupported".

Non-blocking, worth fixing in a later table pass:

  • The Codex macOS row cites cli/src/lib/adapters/codex.js:487 as "runs on macOS". The comment there says the permission-profile boundary works "on macOS and Linux". The README claim stands, but the evidence note understates the code.
  • The L12 row says "The rest of L7 is positioning". The positioning sentence is on L12, with the tagline on L10.
  • The Claude Code row says Linux support "is in review (#2820)". #2820 has merged, so that row is due a recheck.
  • Some README claims have no row yet: L32 (invite by link, newcomer sees the history), L36 (the card moves to In Progress under the agent's name), L38 (the agent asks on a decision card) and L64 ("says hello in a few seconds"). This PR doesn't introduce them, so they don't block it. They are the remaining gaps in TASK-010's coverage.

No-loss check (D138) at 89ebce9c8a763da1f7f70bca71f67fab4a469e47. README.md changes on two lines only, both within the Bring your own list:

  • Codex: "macOS and Linux" becomes "macOS; Linux not yet tested". This is claim-table row CUT (Codex on Linux).\n- OpenCode: drops the "(walked on macOS)" parenthetical, and the guide link is kept. This is claim-table row CUT.

No section, heading, image, link or example is removed. Formatting is unchanged, and the other 29 added lines are in docs/audits/claim-table.md. Each removal has a stated reason. Lumen's Opus docs gate is PASS at this head.
