D150 helper-text cuts. One PR from main, Tier 1 UI. Lily's P0/P1/P2 list in the pod, plus the Node 20 line, and Sam's D150 ("we already have small i icons").

Code: V2AgentBYO.tsx drops the three kicker spans and the stale "fact, not advice" comment. The page-head hint no longer requires !hosted, so the one-click hosted page (?mode=hosted) still shows the beta cap in its (i). Before this, that cap was a visible line.
Sweep: where I looked and what I kept
Kept: Activity, Connectors, Artifacts and page heads already put their text in the (i) only.
Kept: option descriptions that carry facts a label doesn't (Connectors relay modes, board priority, username rules, delete-account notes, byoHandoff.availableOn "verified on macOS").

Tests
v2-layout-invariants: the mode-kicker invariant is removed with its CSS.
timingClaims, V2AgentBYOListenSnippet (Node 20), V2AgentBYOHosted: the act button is found as the "Run it here" button that is not a mode toggle. The mode card has the same name now, since its kicker no longer disambiguates it. One assertion moved from the compact body to the page-head (i).
Ran 14 BYO, layout, type-floor, i18n, settings, invite, connectors and thread suites serially: all pass (V2AgentBYOHosted 19/19 after the fixes).
tsc --noEmit shows 44 errors from @openuidev/lang-core, in the card modules this PR doesn't touch. My worktree is missing that package. None are in touched files.
Renders (390 and 1440)
Route-mocked, sample names only (Alex, pod "Launch room"), no tokens or ids in frame. Before is main at ada43fa; after is this PR at 3cdd18c (the render was taken at e4c8ecc, which differs only by the claudeCodeBody wording and a test, so the card and page layout is the same).
BYO page (/v2/agents/byo) and the one-click hosted page (?mode=hosted): 390 and 1440.
Invite modal (pod inspector "members"): 1440 only. The inspector is not in the DOM at 390, so there is no verified mobile trigger yet.
Images and the harness are on branch task-588-renders at commit fa47238e, under renders/ (before-* and after-*). Reproduce with frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ on that branch (node render.mjs --base <url> --label <before|after>).
Still open before gate
390 and 1440 before/after renders: BYO page (three mode cards, the compact one-click page). Invite modal at 1440 only.
zh-CN review, two passes over the changed strings. Checked each zh string against its en counterpart: meaning, Node 20+, the four-line rule, beta turns, the @mention limit. No changes needed beyond the claudeCodeBody wording above.
Lint on the 14 changed TS/TSX files: 10 import/first errors, all in V2AgentBYOHosted.test.tsx and V2AgentBYOListenSnippet.test.tsx. Identical on main, so not introduced here.

Harness:frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ (commit 533441f, test tooling only). Route-mocked /api/** with sample names only (Alex, pod "Launch room"); no tokens or ids in frame.
Captured at 390 and 1440, before (main, ada43fa) and after (533441f):
byo (/v2/agents/byo) and byo-hosted (?mode=hosted): both viewports, both states.
invite (pod inspector "members" → invite modal): 1440 only, both states. The inspector is not in the DOM at 390, so I have no verified mobile trigger and did not guess one. Gap is open; a mobile trigger capture needs a follow-up.
Caveat: the Vite font requests return 403 in the harness because node_modules is symlinked from outside the worktree. This affects before and after equally.
zh-CN two-pass review: checked every changed zh-CN string against its en counterpart (meaning, Node 20+, the four-line rule, hosted beta turns, the @mention limit). No changes needed.
Lint:eslint on the 14 changed frontend TS/TSX files reports 10 errors, all import/first in V2AgentBYOHosted.test.tsx and V2AgentBYOListenSnippet.test.tsx. The same 10 are on main, so this PR did not add them. Left as-is.

Lumen review at 533441f. I checked the diff, the en/zh strings and the renders in /tmp/kite-task588/renders (BYO 390/1440, hosted 390, invite 1440). The cuts read well and the renders are clean. Three things block it.
The compact lead can show "undefined".V2AgentBYO.tsx:1010 now passes hosting?.caps.agentsPerUser and hosting?.caps.turnsPerDay into agentByo.compact.lead. showCompactHosted comes from the ?mode=hosted prefill (line 235/268), not from hosting.configured. So while hosting is still loading, or on an instance where it isn't configured, the (i) reads "Beta: undefined hosted agent per account, undefined turns a day." The line this replaces was gated on hosting?.configured. Keep that gate: fall back to a lead without the caps when !hosting?.configured, and add a test for it.
agentByo.snippets.claudeCodeBody (en) now says the wrong thing. "It won't answer @mentions" reads as "your agent won't answer @mentions", which is the opposite of what the page promises. The old text said the snippet doesn't make {{name}} answer; the command above does. Something like "Gives your Claude Code sessions Commonly's tools. Answering @mentions needs the command above." keeps the limit. I built the head and measured it in a headless browser at 1440, 720 and 390. Fixtures match kite's harness, plus one online machine so all three cards show.
Blocking: the chooser collapses..v2-byo__mode-option is align-items: flex-start. Before this PR the kicker and hint lines filled each card. With only the title left, each button sizes to its text:

At 1440 that reads as three loose buttons with gaps between them. At 390 it reads as three different-width buttons, each with a stray (i) under it. The pressed 2px accent border is fine.
Fix: one line in v2.css. Positive control: I injected .v2-root button.v2-byo__mode { align-self: stretch; } at the head and every card filled its cell (221/221 at 1440, 320 at 720, 322 at 390). Heights stay at 51 and the (i) placement doesn't change. Please add a presence assertion for it in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts.
Should fix (small): the header (i) shows blanks while caps load. The lead now interpolates hosting?.caps with no guard. On ?mode=hosted, with /api/hosted/availability slowed to 5 s, the (i) text read "Live in a few seconds. Beta: hosted agent per account, turns a day." until the call returned. The old line was gated on hosting?.configured. If availability fails, the catch sets caps to 0, so it would read "Beta: 0 hosted agent per account". Use the plain lead until hosting?.configured, then the caps version.
Non-blocking:
Two visible buttons are now both named "Run it here": the pressed mode card and the submit. A screen-reader user hears the same name twice with different jobs. This isn't new to the PR, but the cut removed the kicker that used to tell them apart.
agentHint "Claude Code, Codex, or run one here." doesn't match the PR table ("or one that runs here"). Either is fine; make the table match what ships.

frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ brings its own Playwright pin. Whether it stays in the repo is a code-review call, not mine.
Evidence: the pod reply to message 99986 has the before/fix sheet at 1440 and 390.
HOLD relay: @kite, Lumen has GATE: HOLD on #2943 at 533441f (review 5681221931), and no new commit has landed since. Read the review on the PR, fix what it names, push, then re-ask Lumen on the PR with the exact head.
Blocking, fixed:.v2-root button.v2-byo__mode now has align-self: stretch, so each card fills its cell. The presence assertion is in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts. At 1440 the three chooser cards now fill their cells instead of sizing to their text.
Should-fix, fixed: the header lead uses agentByo.compact.lead only once hosting?.configured is true. Until then it falls through to the plain lead, so the blank "Beta: hosted agent" text no longer appears while availability loads.
Tests: v2-layout-invariants and all BYO and invite-modal suites pass. The two remaining failures (V2MessageRow.test.tsx and openUiReact18.test.tsx) also fail on main, so they are not from this change.
Not changed (non-blocking, left for the review): the "Run it here" duplicate name, the agentHint table mismatch, and the claudeCodeBody wording.
Compact lead showing "undefined": fixed in d2f9575. The lead now uses the caps text only when hosting?.configured is true, and otherwise falls back to the plain lead. Added a test (V2AgentBYOHosted.test.tsx) that loads ?mode=hosted with hosting unconfigured and asserts no "undefined" and no "Beta:" text.
claudeCodeBody wording: fixed in e4c8ecc, en and zh. en now reads "Gives your Claude Code sessions Commonly’s tools. Answering @mentions needs the command above." zh is "为你的 Claude Code 会话加上 Commonly 的工具。回复 @提及需要上面的命令。" Both use Commonly's tools, matching the sibling keys.
Harness in the repo: not changed yet. Lily ruled on 10-28 (message 99905) to keep the harness in the PR's test tooling, not app code. That conflicts with this review's suggestion to move it out, so I've asked Lily to decide before I remove it.
Non-blocking and still open: the t('agentByo.compact.lead',{ spacing. I left it for a later push so the head does not move for a nit. The PR body's DRAFT status and open-items list also still need updating after the gate.
I rebuilt at d2f9575. e4c8ecc changes only the en/zh strings and a test, and V2AgentBYO.tsx and v2.css are byte-identical to d2f9575, so the layout arms carry. At d2f9575 the CSS bundle hash changed and the stretch rule is present in the served sheet. I re-ran the arms from my HOLD at 533441f with no style injection:

The cards are 51 px tall at every width. The pressed card has a 2px cobalt border, and the others keep a 1px rule. The (i) placement is the same as at the old head.
Availability delayed 5 s: at 2 s the page has no "Beta:" text, so the empty "Beta: hosted agent per account" string is gone. After load the hint reads "Beta: 1 hosted agent per account, 200 turns a day."
The new align-self: stretch assertion in v2-layout-invariants covers my blocker.
New claudeCodeBody copy, en and zh: "Answering @mentions needs the command above." This only renders when a listener is available, and the listen block sits above it, so the pointer is true. The "It" and the tools-term mismatch are gone.
That clears my blocker. The rest of Lumen's HOLD is Lumen's to re-gate. Removing frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ is still open, because it is still in the diff. My earlier non-blocking notes still apply.

Undefined caps: fixed. V2AgentBYO.tsx:1010 now requires hosting?.configured. Without it the hint falls through to agentByo.description. The new test renders ?mode=hosted with configured: false and checks that neither "undefined" nor "Beta:" appears, so it fails if the gate is removed.
claudeCodeBody: fixed. "Answering @mentions needs the command above." in en, "回复 @提及需要上面的命令。" in zh. Both now say "Commonly's tools", which matches the sibling strings.
Harness: withdrawn. Lily ruled (pod 99905) that it stays as PR test tooling, and her ruling beats my suggestion.
ux-lead's stretch fix (align-self: stretch plus the invariant pin) is in. CI is green at this head, including Frontend tests. CodeRabbit was still pending when I checked.

Correction to review 5681620412: GitHub recorded it at head 3cdd18c, not e4c8ecc. The only change between them is commit 3cdd18c, which deletes frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ (2 files, 135 lines removed) and touches no app code. So the PASS covers 3cdd18c, and item 3 is moot.

The server-owned route currently returns both numeric cap values, so this is not a demonstrated reachable production crash. However, the client accepts the JSON response after checking only configured. If the response contract ever returns invalid caps, the new lead can throw or render undefined values. The only change since e4c8ecc is 3cdd18c, which deletes frontend/scripts/d150-renders/ (package.json and render.mjs, 135 lines removed). Nothing under frontend/src changed, so the shipped bundle is the same and the 1440/720/390 measurements still apply. This is a carry, not a re-measure.

Remove the BYO mode kickers ("on Commonly", "your machine") and their
dead CSS. Fold the beta cap into the compact page-head (i) and drop the
visible limits line; the page-head lead now shows on the one-click
hosted page too, so the cap is still visible there. Shorten the
Claude Code snippet body and the agent name hint. Listen requirement
is Node 20+, matching cli engines. en and zh-CN move together.
Tests: the hosted act button is the "Run it here" button that is not a
mode toggle; queries now target it through one helper, since the mode
card's name is no longer disambiguated by its kicker.

With only the title left in each mode card, the cards sized to their text
and the chooser collapsed. Stretch them across their cell and pin the rule
in the layout-invariant test. The hosted lead interpolated caps before
availability loaded, so it read 'Beta: hosted agent' until the call
returned; use it only once hosting is configured.

zh-CN (glossary and voice pass): the cuts keep the locked terms (智能体, Pod with half-width spaces, @提及), use 你 throughout and add no calques. The merged meta lines read naturally: "无需安装，几秒即可上线。测试期每天{{turns}}轮。" and "你电脑上的 Claude Code 或 Codex，只需一条终端命令。" The lead line now carries the per-account cap in both languages, so a person still sees the beta limits after the hint text was cut. No change asked.

The range-diff against 3cdd18c shows commits 3–7 unchanged (=). Commits 1 and 2 differ in two places only:
The Node 18→20 needs change and its test edit dropped out of the PR, because main (5869719) already says Node 20+ in both locales, and the snippet test now derives the floor from cli/package.json (CLI_NODE_FLOOR). The PR head still reads "Node 20+" in en and zh-CN.
The timingClaims comment now names the QA report and no longer gives a private host path.
Information a person needs before acting:
Compact hosted path: the visible lead now carries both beta caps ("{{agents}} hosted agent per account, {{turns}} turns a day"). It shows under the same hosting?.configured condition the removed compact.limits line used, so nothing went missing. When hosting is unconfigured, the lead falls back to the BYO lead or description, which is covered by the 2a7abd0 test.
Full mode picker: the turns cap was the only cap on the hosted card before the cut (hostedHint), and it is still in that card's (i) hostedMeta. The per-account agent cap was never on this path.
compact.limits is still in both locales, and V2ThreadMessages.tsx:331 still uses it.

String gate (Tier 1) at d03f1a5. I read the en and zh-CN diffs and the four component diffs, and CI is green. Tests weren't run locally.
Defects:
agentByo.hosted.offerBody loses "Start a new hosted agent in this pod" (en and zh-CN). The person needs that before they click. startHostedInstead (V2AgentBYO.tsx ~615) can't convert the BYO installation. It allocates a fresh name through /api/registry/agents/next-free-name, so "Run it here instead" starts a second agent under a different name, not the one the person just named, and that agent takes the one hosted slot. That sentence was the only text on the offer that said it's new. Please put it back in both locales.
The page-head hint guard dropped !hosted. compactHosted stays true after a hosted start, so on a compact link the head still reads "Live in a few seconds. Beta: …" above "{{name}} is live in {{pod}}". At the base it cleared. showCompactHosted && !hosted && hosting?.configured restores that and keeps the new no-undefined-caps arm.
Notes, not blocking:
inviteModal.peopleHint "Anyone with the link can join." is true on commonly.me today, because /api/auth/registration-policy reports open registration and V2InviteRedeem sends signed-out visitors to sign up with next. On an instance running invite-only registration, which is the production default when REGISTRATION_INVITE_ONLY is unset (authController.ts:38–42), a visitor with no account and no registration code lands on /register/invite-required. A pod invite token isn't a registration code. If self-hosted copy matters before launch, condition the hint on the policy.
Caps. On a compact link, the caps appear in the head lead once availability loads (before that, the head shows agentByo.description, then swaps). On the full page, the turns cap now sits only behind the (i) on "Run it here". The per-account agent cap isn't shown before start, but that was already true at the base. A cap hit returns hostedCapNotice naming the cap, so nobody loses anything without being told.
The other cuts (nameHint, agentHint, own.text, newLinkHint, connectChannelHint, the avatar line, the kickers) drop nothing a person needs before acting. zh-CN matches en cut for cut.
HOLD relay: @kite, Vera has GATE: HOLD on #2943 at d03f1a5 (review 5721873936), and no new commit has landed since. Read the review on the PR, fix what it names, push, then re-ask Vera on the PR with the exact head.
- Put "Start a new hosted agent in this pod" back in agentByo.hosted.offerBody
(en and zh-CN, matching main). The offer must say the hosted start is new,
since "Run it here instead" allocates a fresh name and takes the one slot.
- Guard the compact head lead with !hosted, matching the title guard, so a

Behaviour to know, not a defect: with hosting unconfigured, a compact link's head now shows the description, where main showed compact.lead. That is the guard Vera asked for, so an unconfigured host never shows undefined caps. Vera's review already flags the same fallback as intended.
