Verification — R-L10 refresh (2026-10-16)

Current head: 1811da01cdf9758c758476ee8f08067c9167feab. Merged dev c03eafd46bdae15aba058850e409c0598309e2ed without rebasing or force-pushing; no textual conflicts. The import-cycle baseline stays at 59 modules, with no additions.

The merge reproduced the ratchet failure on lidge: 72 passed / 1 failed across the cycle, file-size and structure guards, with typecheck passing. The new cyclic member was src/providers/quota/account-row.ts. src/providers/quota.ts:541 now defers that projection import until after the account probe; the source edge no longer joins the static SCC, and private currentness callbacks remain intact. The owning provider structure document records the boundary.

Exact-head remote verification on lidge, Bun 1.4.3: RL10-6454-1811da0-focus completed with typecheck exit 0; tests exit 0; 163 passed / 0 failed across six files:

ssh lidge '~/bin/ocx-lane-launch.sh 52 1811da01cdf9758c758476ee8f08067c9167feab RL10-6454-1811da0-focus tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/structure-ssot.test.ts tests/providers/provider-account-quota.test.ts tests/providers/provider-antigravity-model-quota.test.ts tests/server/provider-account-quota-routes.test.ts'
ssh lidge '~/bin/ocx-lane-launch.sh 2 1811da01cdf9758c758476ee8f08067c9167feab RL10-6454-1811da0'
ssh lidge '~/bin/ocx-lane-cmp.sh RL10-6454-1811da0 dev-c03eafd'

The final exact-head full-suite run RL10-6454-1811da0 completed on lidge: typecheck exit 0; tests exit 1; 48,575 pass / 29 fail / 145 skip (952 seconds, including shared-lock wait). The same-host plain-dev baseline dev-c03eafd has 48,553 pass / 29 fail / 145 skip, typecheck exit 0. ocx-lane-cmp.sh reports zero new named failures, zero baseline failure names absent, and no missing completed batch files. Both executions contain the same 29 failing test names. A separate raw-log inspection found zero unhandled loader errors in this head. This is baseline-equivalent failure evidence, not an all-green full suite. Remote logs and summaries live under ~/ocx-lane/logs/ on lidge. No local tests, typechecks, builds or lint were run for this refresh. No hosted-CI or native-platform success is claimed. Earlier-head evidence below is historical.

Historical pre-refresh verification (2026-10-16)

Published head: 1059ee2d0a691d6c1e1b7e2cf3b2f283aeeef559; tested tree: f306a5946b93307d7227f7b1dbc7dc7752652395. This preserves the maintainer's dev 4ae49360b794f8d829f75019a3c49b5fba39e12b synchronization and GCP-credential-marker integration. The only subsequent edit removes one trailing blank line from scripts/import-cycles.ts, repairing the whole-PR whitespace check. No runtime behavior or cycle baseline changed. Publication used a non-forced, expected-head-checked branch update. The published tree exactly matches the locally tested index.

Bun 1.4.3/Linux, official runner, normal queue/resource limits, disposable HOME and a clean environment without inherited credentials/proxies. On the final tree:

  1. Import-cycle ratchet, Lab boundary, client composition/listener, launchd fallback/repair and service tests: 341 pass / 1 fail / 1,241 assertions across seven files. This is explicitly a failing combined run, not an all-green suite.
  2. Import-cycle/file-size/structure guards, both layout guards, GCP credential-boundary/marker tests and API-key selection: 166 pass / 0 fail / 1,023 assertions across eight files.
  3. tests/adapters/google/gcp-sa-adapter.test.ts: 6 pass / 0 fail / 15 assertions. This covers the maintainer's marker-preservation merge and the routed marker reaching the adapter without an ambient credential fallback.
  4. bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, and git diff --check dev: all pass. The scanner test overlaps between (1) and (2); these counts must not be added as unique tests.

The single combined-run failure is service diagnostics > status summary exposes the service log path. Exact plain dev 4ae49360 reproduces the same assertion in the common four-file selection (314 pass / 1 fail / 1,162 assertions). A read-only probe confirms this container returns unsupported: systemd not found; the unchanged Linux diagnostic intentionally returns before adding service paths. This is the known minimal-container limitation documented in AGENTS.md, not an uninvestigated flaky-test attribution. The earlier two stale-install fixture failures now pass in the combined selection, consistent with dev's service-fixture isolation fix. No production diagnostic, test assertion, timing threshold or service authority rule was weakened.

bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts tests/clients/client-link-runtime.test.ts tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts tests/service/launchd-port-fallback.test.ts tests/service/service.test.ts tests/service/launchd-repair.test.ts
bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/structure-ssot.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/test-layout-tooling.test.ts tests/adapters/google/gcp-credential-boundary.test.ts tests/adapters/google/gcp-sa-marker.test.ts tests/providers/api-key-selection-capture.test.ts
bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/adapters/google/gcp-sa-adapter.test.ts
bun run typecheck
bun run structure:check
bun run privacy:scan
git diff --check dev

Full-suite/platform exception: the reviewed stack was synchronized amid concurrent large-suite work; focused changed-boundary, GCP integration and structural checks were used instead of a new full suite/import-connected run. Local validation is accepted with the explicitly baseline-reproduced, documented unsupported-systemd exception above. No native macOS/Windows service/tray run or live account/provider use is claimed. Earlier Windows timing failures and earlier macOS/remote-hub runs remain historical; this Linux validation does not declare those platform issues fixed.

At validation/publication the branch contained dev 4ae49360. At the 2026-10-16 04:00 UTC re-attestation, the exact tested head is unchanged and is 8 commits behind live dev c03eafd46bdae15aba058850e409c0598309e2ed, within the readiness limit. All current inline review threads are resolved. Exact-head Cross-platform CI and the other functional workflows are terminal action_required, awaiting maintainer approval. They are not passing evidence. Author readiness requests current-head review with the disclosed local exception; required hosted/platform checks remain a pre-merge requirement.

Historical dev synchronization and validation (2026-10-15)

Current head: 49071f38a7fecf77540222ffca5bdb06f0caaac8; exact tested tree: 71a66908d43e0a8820c8a3d0866421e007d1ac73. This normal merge preserves a0fec4e and merges upstream dev ee6cbe2. No rebase, force-push, manual conflict resolution, or unrelated fix was added. Independent stable patch-id comparison confirms the parent delta against dev and child delta against parent are unchanged. The 59/35 cycle baselines remain unchanged and their ratchet checks pass.

On each final tree with Bun 1.4.3/Linux, typecheck, structure, privacy and whitespace checks pass. The combined seven-file official run produced 340 pass / 2 fail / 1,234 assertions, not a fully passing run:

bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts tests/clients/client-link-runtime.test.ts tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts tests/service/launchd-port-fallback.test.ts tests/service/service.test.ts tests/service/launchd-repair.test.ts
bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/service/service.test.ts
bun run typecheck
bun run structure:check
bun run privacy:scan

The two failures are service diagnostics > flags stale baked service paths recorded at install time and service diagnostics > a launcher install judges staleness by the launcher: both expected a stale-path diagnostic and received null. The same cases/assertions fail on exact plain dev ee6cbe2 in the combined selection (319 pass / 2 fail; dev lacks the new ratchet/runtime test paths). Running service.test.ts alone on dev and each candidate gives 211 pass / 0 fail / 702 assertions. The child additionally passed bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/oauth/oauth-reconcile-operator-maps.test.ts (13 pass / 79 assertions). These overlapping runs are not additive unique counts.

A minimal unchanged-dev run of launchd-repair.test.ts followed by service.test.ts reproduces 269 pass / 2 fail. Temporary instrumentation at the actual failing assertion found a newer valid default-home authoritative service record shadowing the active-home fixture; the instrumentation was removed and dev source restored. This establishes a shared fixture-isolation problem. Production authority rules were not weakened and no test fix was bundled into this mechanical synchronization. The earlier five maintainer-reported macOS failures remain a separate investigation.

Full-suite exception: this conflict-free integration preserves the reviewed patch, with focused boundary/service/OAuth regressions and structural gates amid concurrent large-suite work. No full-suite or native macOS/Windows run on this new tree is claimed. Current-head GitHub CI and automated review must be evaluated afresh; all older-head successes or queued runs below are historical. The branch contains dev ee6cbe2 at publication. Author readiness reflects the reviewed mechanical merge and explicitly documented baseline failure exception, not an all-green CI or merge attestation.

Historical review fixes before dev synchronization (2026-10-15)

Then-current head: a0fec4e467f1cbabaae6d0480722465d5ed0114d; exact tested tree: d76cba11fe066929e50e7878adfa31690181e372. This commit extends maintainer head 5026d48 without rewriting it. All older head-specific results below remain historical; they are not new-head CI evidence.

  • Replaced spacing-sensitive import matching with Bun's TS/TSX parser and local resolution. Compact declarations, re-exports, erased type-only imports, index.tsx (including JSX), index.mts, and runtime index precedence have regressions. Dynamic imports remain excluded. The static cycle baselines remain parent 59 / child 35, with no baseline additions.
  • Added a runtime composition test asserting the exact recycle scheduler passed into the listener.
  • A failed launchd load now requires one readable plist snapshot before accepting an already-running no-op. Missing/unreadable plists require repair; readable malformed-port fallback and installed-port precedence are covered. Clean load remains unchanged. Tests use synthetic artifacts/injected manager calls, not a real launchd installation.
  • Independent final diff/security review found no blocker. No new dependency, credential handling, installation, or workflow permission behavior was introduced. The existing child maintainer security sponsorship remains recorded below.

Bun 1.4.3, Linux cloud, both exact final trees: the first command passed 237 tests / 777 assertions; the second passed 93 tests / 385 assertions. The 13 scanner tests overlap, so these counts must not be added as unique tests; the second run includes the final actual-JSX fixture. Typecheck, structure SSOT, privacy scan, and diff check passed. The only environment selection was PATH choosing Bun 1.4.3; no additional validation preload or mount-namespace wrapper was used for these review-fix runs.

bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/clients/client-link-runtime.test.ts tests/service/launchd-port-fallback.test.ts tests/service/service.test.ts
bun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1 --timeout=15000 tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts tests/service/launchd-repair.test.ts
bun run typecheck
bun scripts/structure-ssot.ts
bun run privacy:scan
git diff --check

Full-suite exception: these are focused regressions for eight review-fix files amid concurrent large-suite work. A new full suite/import-connected graph and native macOS/Windows execution were not run locally. The earlier maintainer-reported 46,671 pass / 5 fail / 137 skip on child 7afc, with the same five failures reported on plain dev, remains a failing historical broad run. Their original macOS case/log attribution is still being investigated; these fixes do not claim to resolve it.

The maintainer has dispatched new exact-head cross-platform CI; it is currently queued, with no passing final conclusion. At the latest API check, the old 5026/7afc dispatch runs report overall cancelled, although their final ci jobs completed success at 12:06 UTC and every executed job is successful (parent: 29 success / 5 skipped; child: 28 success / 6 skipped). These are historical-head job results, not successful new-head workflows. Neither older-head results, skipped jobs nor approval-required fork runs count as current-head success. New-head review and required CI must finish before merge. At that head, local validation and independent review were complete, and all currently raised correct findings are resolved. The branch is four commits behind dev at this check, within the readiness gate's limit. Checklist completion requests formal review; it does not assert successful pending CI or authorize merge.

Maintainer additions (2026-10-15)

Pushed 5026d4893 on top of the author's refactor: an import-cycle ratchet for #6386, bound as INV-LAYER-01 in structure/overview.md.

  • scripts/import-cycles.ts builds the src/ static value-import graph with the same edge rules as the INV-LAB-01 walker (type-only imports and dynamic import() form no edge) and finds strongly connected components. Importing it scans nothing; bun scripts/import-cycles.ts --update only ever removes baseline members.
  • tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts fails when a module outside tests/fixtures/import-cycle-baseline.json joins a cycle, when a listed module has left every cycle without the baseline shrinking, and when src/config.ts, src/server/lifecycle.ts, src/server/responses/core.ts or src/server/management-api.ts sits on any cycle. The baseline here is the 59 modules this PR leaves cyclic (dev: 189).
  • Driven red once: adding import "../config" to src/config/paths.ts fails both the membership and the core-entrypoint checks.

Verification for the addition: bun test tests/ci-workflows/import-cycle-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/structure-ssot.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/fixture-dir-uniqueness.test.ts 73 pass / 0 fail; bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan pass. Full bun run test and cross-platform CI (run, dispatched on in-repo mirror ci/pr-6454 at the same commit) results are posted as a comment.

#6594 stacks on this PR and lowers the baseline to 35.

Historical dev refresh and exact-tree validation (2026-10-15)

This section records head 970cc70 before the maintainer additions and latest review fixes. All results in this section are historical.

  • Published head: 970cc7071a625b3bd635d27684cd389d1e48ee77; tree: f1bc7625a617d07f6825ea8a0d5fd929d2142aff.
  • Latest dev at refresh: 7640a942b35044c974e534b84d5a8049f4a8ae9a; 0 dev commits behind. The reviewed patch was replayed without conflicts.
  • The published tree exactly matches locally tested 6398abafacfd9c453a45e4dae6d6258d789bf67f; only commit metadata differs. Independent range-diff and zero-context added/removed-line comparison found no functional patch change. Upstream context was preserved.
  • Bun 1.4.3 on Linux: 377 passed, 0 failed, 4,851 assertions across 17 files using the repository's official runner:
bun scripts/test.ts --preload /path/to/offline-preload.ts ./tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts ./tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts ./tests/service/launchd-port-fallback.test.ts ./tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts ./tests/codex-integration/codex-account-delete-atomicity.test.ts ./tests/providers/api-key-selection-capture.test.ts ./tests/routing/router.test.ts ./tests/providers/provider-registry-parity.test.ts ./tests/providers/provider-anthropic-instance.test.ts ./tests/usage/request-log-generation-window.test.ts ./tests/responses/messages-native-eligibility.test.ts ./tests/claude-integration/messages-native.test.ts ./tests/service/standalone-service.test.ts ./tests/service/launchd-repair.test.ts ./tests/service/service-auth-qualified-localhost.test.ts ./tests/test-layout.test.ts ./tests/claude-integration/claude-intercept-settings.test.ts
  • Also passed: bun --no-install node_modules/typescript/bin/tsc --noEmit, bun scripts/structure-ssot.ts, bun scripts/privacy-scan.ts, and git diff HEAD^ HEAD --check.
  • The official runner isolated homes. A validation-only preload allowed loopback fixture fetches and rejected unmocked external fetches, and removed inherited HTTP/HTTPS/ALL proxy environment variables. The shell started with an empty environment plus disposable HOME and PATH. No user credentials or live account/model requests were used. Existing already-installed dependencies were reused. Initial runner attempts stopped before tests because GUI dependencies were absent and registry DNS resolution failed; after reusing the installed GUI dependencies, the final runs above passed.
  • Full-suite exception: this is an unchanged reviewed-patch replay amid concurrent cloud worktrees, so the focused subsystem regressions and structural checks were run instead of the entire suite/import-connected graph. The previously blocked native-residue coordinator suite was not rerun; native macOS/Windows service execution remains untested here.
  • Exact-head functional GitHub workflows are terminal action_required, awaiting maintainer authorization. This is not passing CI and not a claim that the PR can already merge. Required CI must execute successfully first.

Summary

Rebased the small-cycle extraction onto dev 2acdb925229f8812cc9db24bfb1b114bfed35ff2. The final reviewed patch is replayed as one commit instead of carrying its historical merge commits. Existing public import paths remain available through re-exports.

  • Extract the Claude port policy, message-stream helpers, service definition/auth preflight/Windows script helpers, active Codex-home paths, and routed-provider configuration.
  • Move callers to the modules that own their symbols. The clean replay preserves current dev's picker authority checks, Anthropic Pool 2 routing, durable Bun preflight, persisted reauthentication behavior, undeclared-tool refusal handling, beta-drop logging, Qoder sync roster, and current catalog metadata.
  • The authentication-surface extraction remains in refactor(oauth): break the ChatGPT OAuth and auth-api import cycles #6594. This diff does not change src/oauth/, src/codex/auth-api.ts, src/server/management-api.ts, or src/chatgpt/. It does not include the rejected feat(chatgpt): local-CA send-unblock intercept, stacked on #6361 (split from #5947) #6365 intercept.
  • Broader test-isolation work is kept separate; it is not bundled into this refactor.

Launchd behavior correction

The previous description incorrectly said the generic systemd/Windows readers always return null on Darwin. The generic installed-service chain can read a retained systemd unit.

The launchd callers intentionally use their own plist port, then the configured port: launchdListenPort() ?? resolveServiceListenPort(). This is a behavior qualification, not a claim that every moved call is behavior-identical. Four synthetic regression cases cover both callers with a missing plist, a different foreign systemd port, and plist precedence. They do not install or start a real service.

Import graph

Historical extraction measurement using the value-import matcher from tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts:

  • Static cyclic modules: 189 → 59; cyclic SCCs: 6 → 5.
  • Including literal dynamic imports: 288 → 123 cyclic modules; cyclic SCCs: 6 → 8. The additional SCCs are splits of existing components.
  • Every remaining cyclic module was already cyclic on dev.

These are text-scanner measurements, not a compiler-complete graph. The remaining facade work is outside this extraction batch.

Closes #6386

Verification

Published head: aec25a81d042409d721ac947f652c237ae32b38d, parent dev 2acdb925229f8812cc9db24bfb1b114bfed35ff2.

The published tree c047f63df2085f0c9ad3058fd8d12166af534bbb exactly matches locally tested candidate ee93ab5d6eb224d52005b87ae1d89db8375d2d54. Publication changed commit metadata, not source bytes. The rebase was conflict-free; the range-diff changes only the catalog/parsing context, and the source patch-id is unchanged.

Historical local checks

Bun 1.4.3 on Linux, with inherited credentials/proxies removed and repository home/service protections armed. Focused tests used an additional local containment preload (not part of this PR) allowing loopback HTTP fixtures and git ls-files, while refusing other network and subprocess calls. No such refusals occurred in the passing cases.

  • bun --no-install node_modules/typescript/bin/tsc --noEmit: passed.
  • bun --no-install scripts/structure-ssot.ts: passed.
  • bun --no-install scripts/privacy-scan.ts: passed.
  • git diff --check HEAD^ HEAD: passed.

Every focused command below had --preload ./.tmp/validation/offline-preload.ts after test and ran from the repository root:

  1. bun --no-install test ./tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts ./tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts ./tests/service/launchd-port-fallback.test.ts: 38 pass, 0 fail, 204 assertions.
  2. bun --no-install test ./tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts ./tests/codex-integration/codex-account-delete-atomicity.test.ts ./tests/providers/api-key-selection-capture.test.ts ./tests/routing/router.test.ts ./tests/providers/provider-registry-parity.test.ts ./tests/providers/provider-anthropic-instance.test.ts: 147 pass, 0 fail, 3,184 assertions.
  3. bun --no-install test ./tests/usage/request-log-generation-window.test.ts ./tests/responses/messages-native-eligibility.test.ts ./tests/claude-integration/messages-native.test.ts: 109 pass, 0 fail, 1,142 assertions. Covers stream accounting, generation events, native eligibility, key failover, body limits/stalls, cancellation, and count-token routing.
  4. bun --no-install test ./tests/service/standalone-service.test.ts ./tests/service/launchd-repair.test.ts ./tests/service/service-auth-qualified-localhost.test.ts ./tests/test-layout.test.ts ./tests/codex-integration/codex-native-residue.test.ts ./tests/claude-integration/claude-intercept-settings.test.ts: 83 pass, 87 fail. All 87 failures are in codex-native-residue.test.ts, before its assertions, because the container's /tmp is owned by uid 1000 with mode 0755; the coordinator requires root-owned sticky temporary storage. The refusal implementation in src/codex/user-identity.ts is byte-identical to current dev. The other five files passed. This run is not represented as wholly passing.
  5. Supplemental local-only extraction probes: 3 pass, 0 fail, 46 assertions. These checked old-module/leaf export identity, call-time home switching, relative/absolute catalog paths, explicit-home independence, and unreadable-config fallback using temporary synthetic files. These are additional characterization checks, not a replacement for the blocked native-residue suite.

All five existing Codex/CodeRabbit inline threads are resolved; their export and lifecycle corrections remain in the tested patch. The launchd behavior qualification above remains explicit.

Full-suite exception and remaining coverage

The full suite and test:changed were not rerun. Broad earlier runs were stopped over possible unmocked authentication/provider traffic, and running the repository's large suite with concurrent worktrees is disproportionate to this unchanged extraction replay. The reliable focused coverage above is the documented local scope exception under AGENTS.md; no broad run is counted as passing. Native-residue/coordinator integration remains unavailable in this container, and native macOS/Windows service execution was not tested. No service was installed/started, no real account/provider was used, and no system ownership/security settings were changed. Broader integration and supported-platform validation remain necessary in suitable CI; this does not imply those checks already passed.

Exact-head GitHub runs require maintainer approval: Cross-platform CI, Service lifecycle, React Doctor, and Catalog async contracts. Their action_required state is not passing evidence. Required CI must complete successfully before merge.

📝 Walkthrough

This pull request extracts Claude, Codex, provider, Messages, and service policies and utilities into focused modules. It updates their callers, changes client recycling callback behavior, and adds tests for disconnect handling and Codex account cleanup.

Changes: Claude interception and client recycling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Claude interception port policy
src/claude/intercept/port-policy.ts, src/claude/intercept/runtime.ts, src/claude/desktop-first-party.ts
Interception enablement and proxy-port calculations move to port-policy.ts. The runtime re-exports the policy, and the desktop module imports it from the new location.
Machine listener recycling callback
src/client/runtime.ts, src/client/machine-listener.ts, tests/clients/client-machine-listener.test.ts
The client runtime passes the recycling callback to the listener. The listener no longer dynamically loads a fallback recycler. Tests cover successful and failed disconnects.

Codex paths and account lifecycle

Layer / File(s) Summary
Active Codex home and catalog paths
src/codex/paths.ts, src/codex/catalog/parsing.ts, src/codex/app-server-processes.ts, src/codex/refresh.ts
paths.ts adds active-home resolution and catalog-path readers. catalog/parsing.ts re-exports those APIs, and callers import path and catalog synchronization helpers from focused modules.
Codex account runtime cleanup
src/codex/account-lifecycle.ts, src/codex/account-label.ts, src/codex/native-profile-startup.ts, src/codex/routing/*, tests/codex-integration/codex-account-delete-atomicity.test.ts
Account cleanup deletes the account’s health rows and manual-routing preference while retaining thread-affinity cleanup. Account ID imports use account-id, and a test checks preference cleanup on account deletion.

Routed provider configuration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Resolve routed provider configuration
src/providers/routed-config.ts, src/router.ts, src/providers/api-key-selection.ts, src/providers/key-failover.ts, tests/providers/api-key-selection-capture.test.ts
Provider configuration resolution and warning-memo handling move from router.ts to providers/routed-config.ts. Callers and the dependency-boundary test use the focused module.

Shared Anthropic Messages utilities

Layer / File(s) Summary
SSE passthrough and usage accounting
src/server/messages-shared.ts, src/server/claude-messages.ts
The shared module handles usage conversion and SSE stream outcomes. claude-messages.ts imports and re-exports the shared utilities.
Request guards, IDs, and token estimates
src/server/messages-shared.ts, src/server/claude-messages.ts
The shared module adds body-guard resolution, tool-call ID sanitization, and request-token estimation. Claude Messages re-exports these utilities.
Messages lane imports
src/server/messages-native.ts
The native Messages lane now imports shared utilities from messages-shared.ts.

Service helper modules

Layer / File(s) Summary
Authentication preflight
src/service/auth-preflight.ts, src/service/guards.ts, src/service.ts, src/service/cli.ts, src/service/repair.ts
Authentication checks and retry-command selection move to auth-preflight.ts. The service barrel, CLI, and repair code import them from that module.
Service commands and port definitions
src/service/definition.ts, src/service/health.ts, src/service/launchd.ts, src/service/systemd.ts, src/service/windows-ops.ts, src/service/windows-taskxml.ts, tests/service/standalone-service.test.ts
Service command, port, baked-port, and proxy-environment helpers move to definition.ts. Launchd uses the port from its plist when available; other service modules import the helpers from their new location.
Windows script-path helper
src/service/windows-wscript.ts, src/service/windows-scheduler.ts, src/service/windows-guarded-manager.ts, src/service/windows-taskxml.ts, tests/codex-integration/codex-service-manager-probe-*.test.ts
The wscript.exe path lookup moves to windows-wscript.ts. Service code and tests import it from that module.

Focused module imports

Layer / File(s) Summary
Direct imports for callers and tests
src/grok/sync.ts, src/routing/profile.ts, src/server/effort-policy.ts, src/server/management/*, src/codex/subagent-model-fallback.ts, tests/codex-integration/*, tests/helpers/*, tests/server/account-pool-management-api.test.ts
Grok, management, routing, and server callers use focused modules. Codex tests import the auth API route handler from auth-api/routes.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~55 minutes

Change: Refactor

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to e07f4

The previously ineffective account-deletion test now checks the preference before cleanup. No actionable merge-blocking issue remains after normal checks.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to e07f4

The inspected changes preserve existing security checks and cleanup ordering. No introduced security issue was established, but portions of the change remain incompletely assessed.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected security-relevant exposure remains outgoing provider destinations and credentials, Messages response-stream resources, and local account/runtime state. The examined extraction and callback wiring do not establish an expanded attacker-controlled destination or credential scope.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The moved Messages guard defaults remain 90 seconds and 64 MiB, with explicit zero disabling the corresponding limit. The optional unguarded helper contract predates this PR; both inspected production callers retain guards and request-abort propagation.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The disconnect handler still awaits disconnect completion before scheduling recycling with the connection’s token fingerprint. Recycling suppresses duplicate scheduling, filters the disconnected credential from a detached replacement environment, and retains separate desktop-supervised, service-supervised, replacement-success, and replacement-failure terminal paths.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #6386 asks callers to use concern-owning modules instead of the broad src/config.ts facade, and it seeks a layered runtime graph. This PR substantially reduces cycle sizes, but it leaves facade coupling: src/codex/paths.ts:3 still imports expandUserPath from ../config. The current PR description also states that remaining cycle work requires moving callers off the config facade. Therefore, the PR does not complete the linked issue's coding requirements.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The import-cycle changes support #6386. However, src/codex/account-lifecycle.ts adds forgetManualPreference(accountId), and tests/codex-integration/codex-account-delete-atomicity.test.ts verifies that account deletion now removes a manual routing preference. This is an account-deletion behavior change, not an import-graph change, and the linked issue does not request it.

Hi @lidge-jun @Ingwannu — this PR is ready for maintainer review and currently blocked only by the unsponsored_surface hygiene check.

What it does: breaks 12 small import cycles in src/ (total SCC size 67 → 67, same 6 SCCs; no runtime behavior change intended), including refactoring the codex/auth-api barrel, service/ re-exports, and a small dependency-injection change in the machine listener. Typecheck and the focused test suites for every touched subsystem pass locally; details are in the Verification section.

Why the sponsored surface is touched: the refactor necessarily moves imports through src/codex/auth-api.ts, src/oauth/, and src/server/management-api.ts — these files are part of the cycles being broken, not new logic. The diff is import/export restructuring only; no auth, workflow, or release behavior is changed.

Could one of you run the security review per MAINTAINERS.md and add the maintainer-sponsored label if acceptable? The enforce-target check will then rerun automatically.

@lidge-jun This PR trips the sponsored-surface gate (unsponsored_surface) on six files, so I'd like to ask for the maintainer-sponsored label. None of the six changes behaviour:

  • src/oauth/chatgpt-shared.ts (new) holds CHATGPT_CLIENT_ID, CHATGPT_TOKEN_URL, decodeJwtPayload, extractAccountId, extractEmail and credsFromToken, moved out of src/oauth/chatgpt.ts byte for byte (same client id, same token URL). chatgpt.ts re-exports all six, so every existing import still resolves.
  • src/oauth/chatgpt-device.ts imports those three names from the new leaf instead of ./chatgpt (one line).
  • src/oauth/index.ts loads clearGatherRoutedModelsInflight from codex/catalog/routed-gather, the module that defines it, instead of the codex/catalog barrel (one line).
  • src/codex/auth-api.ts drops its handleCodexAuthAPI re-export, and src/server/management-api.ts loads the handler from codex/auth-api/routes directly (one line). The tests that used the barrel import it from there too.

These edits are what break the cycles: oauth/chatgpt ↔ oauth/chatgpt-device is one of the two-module pairs, and keeping the auth-api re-export grows the remaining component from 30 to 44 modules (measured; see the description).

Partial correctness review at exact head 32ccac6f77ae452297a94e7a5902eda9d3cd7d41, compared with its merged dev base fe09557cb93364dc213d1b6b0f3460bad9384c66. This is not approval of the 60-file change or authorization for CI/security review.

Please qualify the “import-graph-only / no behavior change” claim for the launchd fallback at src/service/launchd.ts:366 and :785:

  • The old installedServiceListenPort() falls through launchdListenPort(), systemdListenPort(), Windows readers, then configured port.
  • systemdListenPort() in the comparison base does not check process.platform; it reads ~/.config/systemd/user/<TASK>.service and parses start --port <n>. unitPath() likewise has no platform gate. The source comment “Linux only” does not make the reader return null on Darwin.
  • Consequently, with no readable launchd plist, a retained/copied systemd artifact declaring port A, and configured port B, the old expression can choose A while this PR chooses B. This is a source-level counterexample to “the readers were always null,” not a claim that a live macOS failure was reproduced.

Selecting the platform's own artifact may be the intended correction. Please document that decision and add a synthetic fallback case (missing plist + foreign artifact + different configured port), or establish an actual invariant that makes the foreign artifact unreachable. I am not requesting restoration of a wrong-platform fallback merely to preserve an accidental behavior. A fixture can establish the selected port without installing or starting any service.

Other previously examined paths did not establish the suspected omissions: production runtime binds scheduleStandaloneRecycle into the machine listener; the old account-purge wrapper already performs deleteAllHealthForAccount then forgetManualPreference in that order; the relocated Messages inspection retains generation-event recording. Those observations are source evidence only, not full runtime equivalence.

Current dev is now 9b6f4b2632492b3df637dccc009d6a01ed47c85d with 181 commits not in this parent head. The Verification's named fe09557cb results are historical relative to that current dev; keep their base explicit and revalidate any integration/rebase delta. I prepared an independent immutable-blob SCC comparison, but its bounded admission ended before Bun because foreign Cargo/clippy work remained active. No SCC counts or runtime test results were produced by that attempt, and none of the author's counts are being independently certified here. #6594 remains a separate authentication-boundary/sponsorship hold.

No source changes, live service calls, scans, sponsorship waiver, approval or merge were performed.

Merge-manager pass: this branch no longer merges cleanly into dev (checked against 8eb1fc3de3 with git merge-tree). Conflicting files:

  • src/claude/intercept/runtime.ts
  • src/router.ts
  • src/service/windows-ops.ts
  • tests/helpers/pool-reauth-cause.ts

src/router.ts is one of the three core-path files guarded by tests/lab/core-lab-boundary.test.ts; please rerun that test after resolving.

Please rebase onto the latest dev, resolve these, and rerun bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check and the focused tests before pushing. The review state is otherwise unchanged by this note.

Integrate upstream dev 0b13396 with current lidge-jun#6454/lidge-jun#6594, lidge-jun#6381,
lidge-jun#5947, lidge-jun#7120 and maintainer lidge-jun#7147. lidge-jun#7077 is already in upstream.
Use lidge-jun#7147 recovery without restoring the obsolete lidge-jun#7098 prefix gate.

Preserve previous personal dev as first parent and retain its DSH
profile patch and real-home write protection through the newer
upstream implementations. Keep backup/dev-before-integration-20261015.

Validated typecheck, structure, privacy and file-size gates, plus
focused isolated synthetic/local-fixture regression tests. This is
source integration only; no release, installation or deployment.

Refreshed-head validation is recorded at the top of the description for 1059ee2d0a691d6c1e1b7e2cf3b2f283aeeef559 (tested tree f306a5946b93307d7227f7b1dbc7dc7752652395). The only follow-up edit removes the scanner's trailing blank line; the maintainer's dev/GCP integration is preserved. Focused structural/GCP checks pass (166 tests plus six marker-to-adapter tests), as do typecheck, structure, privacy and whole-PR whitespace checks. The combined service/boundary run remains 341 pass / 1 fail: the log-path assertion reproduces on exact plain dev because this container reports unsupported: systemd not found. The earlier two fixture-isolation failures now pass. Native macOS/Windows and a fresh full suite remain unrun.

Current-head functional CI is action_required and needs maintainer execution approval. Separately, the readiness gate has not started its first resolve-pr job. I have cleared stale attestations and will recheck them after the current-head checkpoint is recorded, rather than race or bypass the gate. No passing hosted/platform CI or merge readiness is claimed.

Remote validation (hosted GitHub Actions unreliable; local tests not run by maintainer rule): union candidate codex/prr-integ-8 = dev c03eafd + #7224 + #7223 + #7225 + #7217 + #6454 + #6594 plus a Gentle Shell import-cycle fix (integ-9 e1f289c: typecheck + full suite on mini (Windows) and lidge (Linux), compared with the same host's dev runs) and a test-only Windows path-escaping fix for the reasoning-retention routing test (integ-10 0d4cba7, tree a2b309a: that file re-run on both hosts).

Maintainer integration decision (dev, MAINTAINERS.md maintainer-integration policy): landing this PR at head afaffb3 as part of batch 2 of the 2026-10-16 PR-reduction round.

Hosted GitHub Actions were unreliable and the maintainer ruled out local test runs for this round, so the evidence is remote and exact-tree:
