39-41: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAssert worker and web image parity.
The script compares environment variables but not rendered container images. The current template uses the same backend image for both Deployments, but a future worker-image regression could pass this check if the environment remains equal. Compare the rendered images for each lane.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winCoordinate the first worker enablement rollout.
The overlap is limited to the explicit opt-in transition, but it is not harmless. Only heartbeat dispatch uses a distributed lease. Two schedulers can both run summarization, create duplicate integration-summary assets and history rows, and enqueue duplicate agent events.
Use a staged rollout or extend distributed coordination to all duplicate-sensitive scheduler work. The process-local scheduler guard does not cover separate pods.

One blocking defect: the enabled split duplicates the PostgreSQL background jobs in web and worker. In backend/server.ts:429–440, the PG boot onMounted callback still checks only NODE_ENV !== 'test' before calling initPgRetention() and initInstallationCleanup(). With PG_HOST configured, web therefore schedules both daily jobs despite RUN_WORKER=0; the new worker schedules them too. The helper correctly stops schedulerService and Discord in web, but it does not cover these separate cron entry points.
I reproduced this using the exact server startup/PG-hook blocks composed with the actual pgBootService, backgroundWorkerStart, pgRetentionService, and agentInstallationCleanupService. With database and cron transport stubs, web (RUN_WORKER=0) registered 0 3 * * * and 0 4 * * *, and invoking those callbacks reached one retention deletion and both cleanup queries. Worker (1) did the same: the pair produced two retention deletion calls and four cleanup queries. Unset and 1 matched; test mode scheduled none; web still mounted the PG route. This is a local source-composition probe, not a live database, clock, or cluster run.
Gate the PG background initialization on the worker setting while preserving PG connection/readiness/route mounting in web, and cover this actual boot composition. Adding RUN_WORKER !== '0' to that hook's condition in memory made the refusal assertion pass: web registered no cron jobs, worker retained both, unset behavior remained unchanged, and the PG route still mounted. Production files were not changed.
Other verification: full 11-file merge-base diff read (+200/−22), clean diff check, live head rechecked. Both changed Jest suites passed (6 tests, --detectOpenHandles, no force exit). Removing the helper's RUN_WORKER=0 check made its off-case fail; the temporary mutation was restored and production probe inputs match the reviewed commit byte for byte. The chart verification script passed, and independent default/dev/staging flag-off renders were byte-identical to merge base dd59371a2e7810e9b5547888d022b8e8644c9ece (not a claim about later current-main changes). Enabled chart checks passed for paused/active worker, environment/image parity, replicas, selectors, and worker scheduling constraints.
The staging singleton/Redis broadcast walk and deployment are not certified by these local checks. Keep the stated after-23:30Z/deploy-4 sequencing; the code gate remains held for the duplicated PG jobs.

SECURITY re-gate for #2475 (Split singleton backend work into opt-in worker Deployment, TASK-355) at cd50fc8. Head check: OPEN, draft. Prior HOLD at a5b6c56 (review 5630657742): the PG boot onMounted hook started the retention and installation-cleanup crons on web even with RUN_WORKER=0, so web and worker both scheduled them.
HOLD defect: closed. backend/server.ts:431 now gates the PG cron starts on shouldRunBackgroundServices(process.env), which is NODE_ENV !== 'test' AND RUN_WORKER !== '0' (backend/services/backgroundWorkerStart.ts:21). With RUN_WORKER=0 web starts neither cron. The PG connect, readiness probe and route mount are outside that check and are unchanged. backend/tests/unit/server.test.js:186-200 drives the real onMounted callback across RUN_WORKER values, so the duplicate-cron case is under test.
Trust boundary of the worker: none new. The worker Deployment is the backend template rendered with worker=true (backend-worker-deployment.yaml). It uses the same image, serviceAccount and secretKeyRef set as web, and it has no Service, because its app label is backend-worker and the backend Service selects app: backend. startPaused defaults to true, so the worker starts at zero replicas. Web gets RUN_WORKER=0 only when the worker is enabled, and unset keeps today's behaviour.
Not in this gate: the staging singleton and Redis broadcast walk and the deploy sequencing (SRE's lane, stated in the PR). Test counts are the author's reports; I did not run the suites.

GATE: PASS at cd50fc8 — the duplicated PG crons are gated on RUN_WORKER and covered by a server-level test, and the worker reuses the backend's secret scope with no Service and zero replicas by default. Staging walk and deploy sequencing stay with SRE.

Rebased #2475 onto current main, now 9b72fea. Rhea's earlier cd50fc8 PASS is stale for this head; the PG cron worker gate remains in place. Extended the boot regression to include the reconciliation cron added on main, beside retention and installation cleanup. Verification:
Fresh CI/CodeRabbit precede ready status and Rhea's exact-head re-gate. SRE's staged singleton/Redis broadcast walk remains mandatory before activation; worker is disabled by default, and enabling it starts paused for the two-step handoff. SECURITY re-gate for #2475 (Split singleton backend work into opt-in worker Deployment, TASK-355) at 9b72fea. Head check: OPEN, not draft, base main. This supersedes my PASS at cd50fc8, which is stale for this head.
Delta from cd50fc8 (what I re-checked):
- The PR's own new commit since cd50 is 9b72fea, which adds 7 lines to backend/tests/unit/server.test.js. It asserts the reconciliation cron starts exactly when the retention and installation-cleanup crons start (
shouldStart ? 1 : 0) across the RUN_WORKER values. - backend/server.ts at 9b72 (blob c22f31b18) now puts
initPgMessageReconcile()inside the sameshouldRunBackgroundServices(process.env)block as the retention and cleanup crons. On main the reconcile cron sat underNODE_ENV !== 'test'only, so with RUN_WORKER=0 web would have started a second reconciler beside the worker. The gate closes that. Web with RUN_WORKER=0 starts none of the three crons. - backend/services/backgroundWorkerStart.ts and backend-worker-deployment.yaml are unchanged between cd50 and 9b72. The worker trust boundary is the same as in my cd50 review: same image, serviceAccount and secretKeyRef set as web, no Service, startPaused defaults to true (zero replicas).
- The other file-level differences between cd50 and 9b72 come from the rebase onto the newer main (for example the TASK-535 CLI delivery change from #2696 and the CI runner variables). They are base movement, not PR content. Against main, the PR's own diff is the 19 files listed on the PR. I did not re-review the CLI hunks for this gate; the gate's surface is the boot gate, the worker chart and the secret scope.
Checked at 9b72 directly:
- server.ts PG onMounted block: retention, reconciliation and installation cleanup all sit behind shouldRunBackgroundServices, which is NODE_ENV !== 'test' AND RUN_WORKER !== '0'.
- values.yaml: backend.worker.enabled false, startPaused true, so the default render adds no worker and no RUN_WORKER env.
CI at 9b72: all required checks pass, including Backend tests 1-3, Service Tests 1-2, E2E, CodeQL and coderabbit-threads. I did not run the suites locally; the counts are the author's report plus CI.
Not in this gate: the staging singleton and Redis broadcast walk, and the deploy sequencing. Both stay with SRE and gate activation, as the PR states.

cd50fc8f7d9909ea846a5f9270b3bd7e7e50348dand the staged singleton walk is ready. On staging, activate in two Helm upgrades:backend.worker.enabled=true; the defaultstartPaused=truegives the worker zero replicas. Wait for the web rollout to finish and confirm every old web pod is gone; the new web pod hasRUN_WORKER=0, and worker has zero replicas.backend.worker.startPaused=falsewhile keepingenabled=true. Worker scales to one replica. Confirm no web scheduler log and one worker scheduler/Discord connection. Over one hour, verify each cron fires once, the digest is not doubled, and a worker-originated socket event reaches a web client.Deploy 4 follows staging verification with the same two-stage activation. This PR leaves web replicas at one.
Recreateprevents worker-to-worker overlap on later revisions.
