TASK-392 S4: runtime and connector grants

Adds Runtime and Connector grants to the per-agent Settings tab after Key and Wake/Pods.

  • Shows how the agent runs and names adapters only from the walked set. Daemon model/effort edits use S1's useAgentSettings.update({ config: { environment: ... } }) path; single-CLI model choice stays local.
  • Lists this agent's grant tools, pod, connection owner, and dates. Revoke requires confirmation and calls the existing grant route. A successful revoke remains shown as ended even if refresh fails.
  • The grants GET is installer/admin gated across every non-uninstalled installation of the shared identity, including paused/error/stale rows. The existing revoke route checks connection ownership or admin role. The list exposes revoke only where that route allows it, including legacy config.linkedUserId ownership.
  • Reuses S1's sanitized environment projection and control-only merge, which preserves workspace/MCP declarations. No second model writer was added.

Verification

  • Focused frontend Settings and Runtime/Grants component tests: 17 passed.
  • Backend grants query tests: 5 passed, including mixed active/paused installers and paused-only ownership. Prior focused revoke/auth suites: 29 passed.
  • Frontend and backend TypeScript checks passed; scoped TypeScript ESLint had no errors.
  • v2 layout invariants: 227 passed; git diff --check passed.

Gates

Lumen and Sable's HOLD findings at bd2aa70 are addressed at the current head; their delta reviews and CI are pending. Real-browser desktop/mobile review is pending Lumen's gate.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds an authenticated registry endpoint for agent grants, updates grant-revocation authorization, and adds runtime and connector-grant controls to agent settings. The settings page loads runtime details and grants, supports eligible model and effort edits, and allows eligible grants to be revoked.

Changes: Agent Runtime Grants

Layer / File(s) Summary
Grant listing and revocation access
backend/routes/registry/manage-grants.ts, backend/routes/registry.ts, backend/routes/grants.ts, backend/__tests__/unit/routes/registry.manage-grants.test.js, backend/__tests__/unit/routes/grants.read.test.js
The registry route checks installation access, filters grants by agent identity and pod membership, and returns grant and revocation details. Grant revocation now permits connection owners or admins. Tests cover access checks, grant filtering, and revocation authorization.
Runtime and grants component
frontend/src/v2/components/V2AgentRuntimeGrants.tsx, frontend/src/v2/components/V2AgentRuntimeGrants.css, frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json, frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentRuntimeGrants.test.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
The component classifies and displays runtime details, provides eligible model and effort edits, and lists grants with confirmation-based revocation. It displays loading, empty, and error states. Styles, translations, and tests support these controls.
Agent settings integration
frontend/src/v2/agents/V2AgentSettingsPage.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2AgentSettingsPage.test.tsx
The settings page derives runtime values from installation settings and the environment configuration, renders the runtime and grants component, and saves runtime edits through the settings update function.

Wait for the grant before asserting that Revoke is absent.

“Connector grants” renders before the GET completes. This test can pass before the canRevoke: false grant appears, even if the component later shows a Revoke button. Wait for the grant details, then assert that the button is absent. As per coding guidelines: “New code path ≠ test: flag it. Name the specific test that should exist.”

Allow the empty effort option to clear an existing effort.

When runtime.effort has a value, selecting “Choose effort” makes effortChanged false. With no model change, the Save button stays disabled and the existing effort remains. Treat an empty draft as a change when an effort is set, and send a clearing value that the settings update accepts.

Preserve the revoked state when reload fails.

load() handles the GET failure as a load error, so the revoke catch does not report the completed POST as a revoke failure. However, the failed reload leaves the old active grant in grants, and the UI can still show its Revoke button. Mark the grant revoked locally after the successful POST.

276-279: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add a test for the persisted-admin revoke path.

The admin revoke test sends x-test-role: admin, so the header-derived role satisfies the first isAdmin check. The User.findById fallback in revokeHandler does not run in that test. No other inspected test reaches it either, so the fallback can be removed without any test failing.

Add a test such as "lets a persisted admin revoke without an admin request role". Seed a User document with role: 'admin'. Call POST /api/grants/:grantId/revoke with only x-test-user set, and omit x-test-role. Assert a 200 response and that the saved grant has revokedBy set to that admin's id. grants.read.test.js does not mock models/User, so seed a real document or add a User.findById mock. A companion test for a persisted role: 'user' non-owner should assert a 403.

Render + copy gate at bd2aa70, based on main 25836c3 (#2520 only). This is a code read; Playwright was not run.

One column / no clash: the sections themselves pass. Runtime and Grants each use .v2-agent-settings__section (28px rhythm, settings h2). The facts dl collapses to one column at ≤760px, the edit inputs go full width, and tool, pod and grantor strings use overflow-wrap: anywhere. Buttons inherit the Settings (0,3,1) outlined control. Nothing has a fixed width that overflows at 390.

Walked adapters only: there is no adapter picker. The adapter is display-only, from WALKED_ADAPTERS, and an unknown adapter is omitted rather than shown raw. Model is a free-text input, and the runtime edit only renders for a daemon agent on a walked adapter. That holds.

No sentence subtitles: none. Headings are bare, and the only sentences are the empty, loading and error states.

This head can't show the property against Wake + Pods or Skills. It isn't rebased onto main 185fd8d (#2519 merged), and both PRs insert into V2AgentSettingsPage's <main>, so the rebase will conflict there. I'll re-check the stack on the rebased head.

Defects:

  1. Order: Runtime and Grants mount above Key. Today's P0 exists because a user couldn't find how to regenerate a key. Here Key drops below two sections, and with a few grants it falls under the fold at 1440×900. Mount Runtime + Grants after Key (and after Wake + Pods once rebased).
  2. A runtime save error renders far from Save. {error && <p role="alert">} is the component's last child, below the whole grants list, so a failed "Save runtime" reports at the bottom of the next section. Render the runtime error inside the Runtime section, next to the edit row, and the grant errors inside Grants.
  3. Copy assumes the viewer's own machine. "On my computer via the daemon" / 通过守护进程在我的电脑上运行 is wrong when an admin views someone else's agent. "Change model on this computer" / 更改这台电脑上的模型 reads as the browser's computer, not the agent's. Suggest "On a computer, via the daemon" / 通过守护进程在电脑上运行, and the label "Model" / 模型 (the dt already says where it runs).

Non-blocking, for the Settings polish follow-up:

  • Errors render red ([role="alert"] { color: var(--v2-danger) }). Signal wants ink text, and the merged Key and Wake sections have the same issue.
  • The revoke confirm has no primary. Both "Yes, revoke it" and "Cancel" are outlined, while Key's confirm makes the action ink (.v2-agent-settings__actions button:first-child). Reusing that class would match.

#2527 TASK-392 at bd2aa70 — HOLD

backend/routes/registry/manage-grants.ts:40-49 checks installer ownership only among status: 'active' rows, but the same shared agent identity can also have paused, error, or stale installations (the model permits them, and the existing settings PATCH explicitly permits paused). If installer A has an active row and installer B pauses their row, A passes the all-installers check. The route then reads every grant addressed to that identity (:56-68), including B's pod grant while the agent remains a member, and returns its tools, pod, and granter. This bypasses the stated cross-installer privacy boundary. Conversely, an owner whose only row is paused gets 404 and cannot view or revoke that agent's grant from Settings. The shared-identity authorization needs to account for every non-uninstalled installation, or the result must be scoped to grants from the caller's installation. Cover mixed active/paused installers and a paused-only owner; the current mock test supplies rows without exercising the status filter.

Credit: the editor uses useAgentSettings and the existing guarded PATCH, and the revoke control uses the existing grant route. The grant-read ownership boundary still prevents a pass.

Render + copy re-gate at 324d35d, rebased onto main 141b47f (now includes #2519). This is a code read.

All three HOLD defects are fixed:

  1. Order: V2AgentSettingsPage renders Key, then <V2AgentWakePods>, then <V2AgentRuntimeGrants>. Key is first again, and Runtime + Grants follow Wake + Pods.
  2. Errors sit in their sections: the single trailing alert is split into runtimeError (rendered inside the Runtime section) and grantsError (inside Grants). A failed Save or revoke reports beside its control, and the empty state is gated on grantsError only.
  3. The copy is viewer-neutral: "On a computer, via the daemon" / 通过守护进程在电脑上运行, and the model input label is now "Model" / 模型.

Layout at 1440 and 390 is unchanged from my last read (one column, facts dl collapses at ≤760px, full-width inputs, wrapped tool and pod strings).

Still non-blocking, for the Settings polish follow-up: .v2-agent-runtime-grants [role="alert"] is var(--v2-danger) (red), where Signal wants ink, and the revoke confirm has no ink primary.

No blocking render or copy defects.

#2527 TASK-392 at 324d35d — PASS

The grant-read HOLD from review 5632390548 is cleared. The endpoint now includes every non-uninstalled installation in its shared-identity installer check, so a paused, stale, or error row owned by another installer prevents the read; a paused-only owner remains eligible. The updated test asserts the status filter and covers both mixed active/paused installers and a paused-only owner. The Settings page delegates model and effort changes to useAgentSettings.update({ config: { environment: changes } }); the existing guarded PATCH merges those controls into the environment and keeps the stored workspace/MCP declaration. I checked the current PR diff against its merged-S3 base and git diff --check.

Credit: the existing grant revoke route and server-derived canRevoke stay aligned. Lumen's render gate is separate.
