Render + copy gate at e69c2fa (draft), on main 35ce3d3. This is a code read.
What holds:
- Placement: Identity mounts after Key and before Wake + Pods, so Key stays first.
- Layout: one column, the form capped at
max-width: 680px, inputs, textareas and selectwidth: 100%via a (0,3,1) rule that beats the Settings control styling. The personafieldsethas a soft border, and nothing has a fixed width that overflows at 390. - Save is the ink primary: it's the first child of
.v2-agent-settings__actions, which takes the existing (0,4,1) ink rule. "Saved" sits beside it. - Format cue: the comma-separated fields say so in their labels ("Specialties (comma separated)" /
专长(用逗号分隔)), with no extra hint line. - zh: 智能体 isn't needed here. 显示名称, 指令, 角色设定 and 行为边界 read cleanly, with half-width spacing in
1–80 个字符.
Defects:
- Rename refusals reach the reader as raw English server text. (Blocking.) The new 403 (
Only the sole installer or an instance admin can rename this agent identity), the 409identity_rename_scope_incomplete(This identity has installations outside your writable pods) and the 503 (The name was saved, but chat is catching up…) are all shown verbatim viaresponse.data.error. They're untranslated in zh, and "writable pods" is internal vocabulary. The 409 is an ordinary state for any shared agent. Map these codes to localized copy, e.g. "Someone else also installed this agent, so only an admin can rename it." /此智能体也由其他人安装,只有管理员可以重命名。. Better still, when the viewer can't rename, render the name read-only with that line instead of letting Save fail. - The publish listing isn't in this slice. TASK-395's brief includes "the publish listing", and there is no control for it here. I'm naming it as a gap, as asked, pending Lily's contract answer. It doesn't block the rest of the section.
Non-blocking, for the Settings polish follow-up: .v2-agent-settings__error is still red (--v2-danger), where Signal wants ink, the same as the merged Key section. The persona fieldset is a soft-bordered box inside an otherwise flat section, a third section treatment on the tab.

Render + copy re-gate at 4076bee, a fast-forward from my HOLD at e69c2fa via one commit, 4076bee.
The blocking defect is fixed. response.data.error is no longer rendered. Status maps to localized keys:
- 403 → "You don't have permission to change this agent's identity." /
你没有权限修改此智能体的身份。 - 409 → "This agent is installed in pods you cannot manage. An admin can rename it across every pod." /
此智能体也安装在你无权管理的 Pod 中。管理员可以为所有 Pod 更改其名称。. The "writable pods" jargon is gone, it uses 智能体, Pod with half-width spaces and 你, and it gives one next step. - 503 → "Name saved, but chat has not caught up. Try saving again in a moment." /
名称已保存,但聊天尚未同步。请稍后重试。 - Anything else falls back to the generic save error.
zh identityNameError now reads 显示名称须为1–80个字符。, with no space between hanzi and the numeral, which is correct per the glossary.
Non-blocking:
- Any 400 now maps to the display-name error. If the route ever 400s on instructions or persona, the copy would blame the name. It's fine today, since the only new 400 is the name check.
- A viewer who can't rename still gets an editable name field and learns that only on Save. Rendering it read-only when the viewer can't rename would be kinder. That's for the follow-up.
Gap, unchanged: there's no publish-listing control yet, pending Lily's contract.
No blocking render or copy defects.

#2535 TASK-395 at 9719f56: HOLD
The Identity editor covers display name, instructions, and persona, but the requested publish-listing control is absent. V2AgentIdentitySection.tsx has only those edit fields and Save; the PR body also says publishing remains pending a contract ruling. This head therefore does not yet deliver the stated S6 scope. The code gate can be revisited when that control is implemented or the scope is explicitly narrowed.
A second consistency gap is in the rename write order: renameAgentDisplayName saves the portable User and PostgreSQL mirror before agent-config.ts saves each installation and updates profiles. If a later save fails, the route returns 500 with chat showing the new name while one or more pod projections retain the old one. The service tests cover successful fan-out and mirror failure, but not a projection-write failure after the User save. The write path needs recovery or a proven retry contract for that partial state.
Credit: the route now checks sole ownership before identity-wide renames, and the real Mongo tests cover installer/admin authorization and cross-pod fan-out. The editor uses the shared settings hook and localized refusal copy.

#2535 TASK-395 at 66c05ca: HOLD
The paused-agent ownership fix is correct: the rename gate now checks every non-uninstalled projection, so a sole installer can rename a paused seat while an identity with another or unknown installer remains refused. The real Mongo test covers that paused case.
Two blockers from the prior head remain unchanged. The requested publish-listing control is absent from the Identity section; the PR body still says its contract awaits Lily's ruling, and the draft must remain held until S6 scope is decided and delivered. The rename path also saves the portable User and PostgreSQL mirror before saving installation projections and updating profiles. A later projection write can fail after chat has the new name, leaving pod rows stale while the route returns 500. The new test covers paused success, not this partial-write recovery.
Credit: the new authorization rule matches the all-projection rename scope, including paused installations. Existing focused tests, TypeScript, and targeted lint are reported green.

Render + copy re-gate at a20c568, a fast-forward from my PASS at 4076bee via 9719f56 (test), 66c05ca (backend: a sole installer can rename while paused) and a20c568.
The only visible change is one new mapped state. A 503 carrying code: 'identity_projection_retryable' now shows "Name update was interrupted. Save again to finish updating every pod." / 名称更新中断。请再次保存,以完成所有 Pod 的更新。. It's checked before the status map, so it wins over the generic 503 copy, and raw server text still never renders. The copy names the one next step (save again). The zh uses Pod with half-width spaces and , with no em dash.
No CSS change, and the rest of the section is as I passed it at 4076bee.
Gap unchanged: there's no publish-listing control yet (Lily's decision card).
No blocking render or copy defects.

#2535 TASK-395 at a20c568: HOLD
The projection consistency blocker is resolved at this head. A failed installation or profile write after the portable rename returns 503 identity_projection_retryable; the editor retains the entered name and tells the user to save again. The same PATCH retries the idempotent fan-out. Real Mongo tests inject both failure points and verify the second request repairs every installation and profile projection. The paused sole-installer rename check from the prior head remains intact.
The S6 publish-listing control is still absent. The PR body and pod decision card leave its contract pending: registry PATCH edits identity, while publishing requires a separate manifest and publisher authorization. Keep this draft held until Lily narrows S6 to a listing status/link or the chosen publish control is delivered and reviewed.
Credit: the retry path makes partial projection writes visible and recoverable without exposing exception text; focused frontend and backend checks are reported green.

#2535 TASK-395 at 74ee7e7: HOLD
The exact-head CodeQL change wraps the profile updates in $set and enables Mongoose validators. It preserves the rename retry path reviewed at a20c568: interrupted installation and profile writes return a retryable 503, and the real Mongo tests prove a repeated Save repairs the projections. I found no new defect in this delta.
The S6 publish-listing control remains absent, and the PR body still leaves its contract to Lily's pending decision card. This draft stays held until the chosen listing scope is implemented or S6 is explicitly narrowed.
Credit: the paused sole-installer rule and the explicit, tested projection retry contract remain intact. Forge reports the focused checks and CodeQL green at this head.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Fix the IDENTITY.md write. It names the agent after instanceId on persona-only saves, and it blanks the persona on rename-only saves.
The new Identity editor always sends persona. It omits displayName when the name is unchanged. For an openclaw agent, that is the normal save. The condition at Line 367 is true because persona !== undefined. effectiveDisplayName is undefined, so Line 368 builds the file with normalizedInstanceId as the Name. The workspace IDENTITY.md then loses the agent's real display name.
A rename-only PATCH has the reverse problem. persona is undefined, so persona || {} overwrites the stored vibe, domain and notes with empty values.
Fall back to the stored name. For a rename-only PATCH, read the stored persona.
Proposed fix for the name fallback

#2535 TASK-395 at 364a6f0: PASS
The remaining S6 listing gap is addressed. Identity Settings reads registry status, registry, ephemeral, and verified from the existing detail endpoint, distinguishes unpublished, review, deprecated, and browse-hidden states, and links to the existing public agent profile without presenting that profile as a marketplace listing. The new request is read-only; identity writes remain on useAgentSettings.update and the installer/admin server gate reviewed at the earlier heads.
I checked the catalog filters and public profile route, ran the Settings, hook, and layout suites at this head (244/244 pass), and found the delta clean under git diff --check. Exact-head CI has no pending or failed checks. Lumen's render gate remains separate.
Credit: the listing copy explicitly separates a public identity page from marketplace publication, matching Lily's S6 ruling.

#2535 TASK-395 at 364a6f0: HOLD
The requested display-name dedup property fails on an explicit Identity rename. The registry PATCH passes the name to AgentIdentityService.renameAgentDisplayName, which calls resolveCollisionFreeDisplayName. That resolver returns any name ending in a parenthetical suffix before querying peer Users (backend/services/agentIdentityService.ts, lines 439–450). If agent A already displays Pixel (Owner), an installer or admin can rename agent B to exactly Pixel (Owner); B's portable User and installation projections then receive the same visible byline. The existing tests cover a basic Pixel collision and principal username ownership, but not this explicit rename against a peer's already suffixed name.
The same resolver also lets a new shorter instanceId keep a bare name already held by a longer peer, pending an offline sweep; the current collision test explicitly expects that duplicate. The S6 claim that a displayName collision cannot impersonate another agent needs a server-side uniqueness result for explicit renames and a regression test with two distinct bot Users, including an already suffixed peer name.
My earlier PASS review 5633842167 at this head did not check this collision boundary. This HOLD supersedes it. The installer/admin write gate, hook path, and read-only listing status/link were verified in that review; Lumen's render gate is separate.

Render + copy re-gate at 2e78517, a fast-forward from my PASS at 364a6f0 via one commit, 2e78517.
Note: the full SHA in the pod ask (2e785172e943e901…) isn't this head. Only the 8-char prefix matches. This review is bound to the PR's actual head above.
The new refusal has its own copy, as I asked. code === 'agent_display_name_taken' is checked before the status map, so the taken-name case no longer falls into the 409 "installed in pods you cannot manage" line. The copy is "Another agent already uses this name." / 其他智能体已使用此名称。: plain, one line, ink error text in the section, and it uses 智能体. The retryable-projection branch and the status fallbacks are unchanged.
No CSS change. The rest of the section is as passed at 364a6f0.
No render or copy defects.

#2535 TASK-395 code gate at 2e78517: PASS
The explicit rename path now checks other agent User labels with an escaped, anchored, case-insensitive match before saving the portable User or any installation/profile projection. It rejects the previously unguarded Scout (Cody) case with a typed 409, while the route returns that code before projection writes. The focused collision test uses a second bot User, asserts the refusal, and asserts no User save; the route test checks the 409 and no installation save. The Identity editor maps the distinct code to en/zh copy. The existing installer/admin and complete-projection scope checks remain ahead of the rename. I found no remaining code defect in the requested S6 property at this head. Exact-head CI was still running when I reviewed it.
Credit: @forge implemented the fix and tests; @lumen separately passed the render and copy gate at this head.

Delta re-stamp of my render/copy gate for S6 Identity at head 094dd6ba57d7b2aa6cafeabbea562675b5f89b80. My PASS was at 2e785172.
Range-diff against origin/main..094dd6ba:
- Commits 2–14: carried over unchanged. Commit 12 gained only a co-author trailer.
- Commit 1: rebase context only.
V2AgentSettingsPage.tsxnow imports S4'sV2AgentRuntimeGrants.- The Identity section is inserted ahead of S4's
<V2AgentRuntimeGrants>instead of before</main>. - The
axios.patchmock and theupdatedestructure are already on main, so they dropped out of the diff. - The S6 layout invariant now sits beside S4's runtime-grants invariant, and both are kept.
- Commit 15 (new): one test-fixture line, a
/manage-settingsstub returningwritablePodId, so S4's runtime-editor test works with the shared hook.
The Settings tab at this head renders in this order: Key, Identity, Wake + Pods, Runtime. Every S6 and S4 section is present.
Locales: en.json and zh-CN.json parse with no duplicate keys, and sentenceSeparator survives in both. Copy is unchanged from my PASS.
Non-blocking: #2517 is still open and mounts AgentControlLoader above Key in this same file. Whichever of the two lands second will conflict again here. Expect one more re-stamp.
Frontend, Backend and E2E were pending at filing. This verdict covers code, render and copy only, so press only after they go green.

#2535 TASK-395 code gate at 094dd6b: PASS
The range-diff preserves the S6 code gate at 2e78517: twelve commits are patch-equivalent, and the changed initial commit resolves Settings and locale context after S4 #2527. The S4 Runtime + Grants section remains beside Key, Identity, and Wake + Pods; its layout invariant remains alongside S6's Identity invariant. The final commit adds the writable-pod fixture needed by the shared hook. Settings, hook, and layout suites passed 247/247 on a clean worktree at this head. The rename-collision refusal is patch-equivalent to the cleared commit. Lumen's render gate is separate. CI was still running at code review time.

Delta re-stamp of my render/copy gate for S6 Identity at head 7e3c0d0f32e60da5c2c9fbbe6e24e1f1ab9c634d, now rebased onto main with #2517. My PASS was at 094dd6ba.
Range-diff
- Commits 2–15 are identical.
- Commit 1 carries rebase context only: its imports now sit beside #2517's
AgentControlLoaderandAgentConnection, and the Identity test anchors after #2517's Control test. - Commit 16 is new and changes one test line. The taken-name assertion moves from
findByRole('alert')tofindByText(...), because the page now holds Control's alert as well.
Settings tab, in render order:
- Control (Connection)
- Key
- Identity
- Wake + Pods
- Runtime + Grants
Every section from S2, S4 and S6 is present, and none was lost.
Copy and refusal
- The taken-name refusal is unchanged. It still renders in
<p role="alert">inside the Identity section at line 150. The raw-server-text negative assertion is kept. - Neither locale file has duplicate keys.
Non-blocking
- The rewritten test no longer pins the refusal's
role="alert". It could be scoped withwithin(identitySection).getByRole('alert')to keep that a11y check. V2AgentIdentitySectionandV2AgentRuntimeGrantsstill share the sibling key${agentName}:${instanceId}, as noted at the last head.
CI was starting when I filed. This verdict covers render and copy only; press after green.

#2535 TASK-395 code delta gate at 7e3c0d0: PASS
Compared this rebase with the cleared 094dd6b head. The feature commits remain patch-equivalent; the Settings integration retains Control, Key, Identity, Wake + Pods, and Runtime + Grants. The merge adds a targeted assertion for the rename-collision message because Control now supplies another alert. The rename-collision refusal and backend implementation are unchanged.
At this exact head, the focused Settings, useAgentSettings, and v2 layout suites pass 251/251 in a clean detached worktree. Frontend typecheck was reported green by the author; CI is still running. Lumen's render gate is separate.

This adds a local test run to my earlier review at this head. Same head, 7e3c0d0f32e60da5c2c9fbbe6e24e1f1ab9c634d, which already includes #2517 from main.
Test run. I ran the frontend jest suite against a clean worktree at this head: npm ci, then npm test. The script runs the full jest suite, not only the focused files, and every suite passed: 161/161, 1,581 tests. The four Settings suites were among them:
V2AgentSettingsPageuseAgentSettingsv2-layout-invariantsV2AgentWakePods
The node --test scripts finished with 0 failures.
Identity is unchanged from my PASS at 094dd6ba.
- The commits are identical in the range-diff.
- The name-taken refusal still renders in the Identity section's
role="alert". - The raw-server-text guard still holds.
- Section order is Control, Key, Identity, Wake + Pods, Runtime.
Non-blocking items, unchanged from my earlier review.
- The taken-name test no longer pins
role="alert". V2AgentIdentitySectionandV2AgentRuntimeGrantsshare a sibling key.

TASK-395 / TASK-378 S6
Adds the Identity editor to the per-agent Settings page using the shared
useAgentSettings.updatehook. It edits display name, instructions, and persona (tone, specialties, boundaries, notes) through the existing installer/admin-gated registry PATCH. A display-name write updates the portable bot User row and PostgreSQL chat mirror plus every active or paused installation/profile projection. Identity-wide renames require an admin or the sole installer across all projections. The shared hook chooses an installer/admin-writable pod from
manage-settings. The memory index can include readable pods installed by someone else, so its first pod is not a safe write target. Rename refusals use localized copy; raw server text is not rendered. An interrupted projection write after the portable rename returns
503 identity_projection_retryable. Repeating the same Save request is idempotent and repairs remaining installations and profiles. The UI keeps the entered name and explicitly asks the user to save again. A failed chat mirror returns503 identity_mirror_pendingwith its own retry message. The Identity section also reads registry status, verification, registry scope, and ephemeral state. It shows whether a marketplace listing is published, pending review, deprecated, not visible in browse, or absent, plus a link to this instance's public agent profile. The profile is a separate public identity page: it does not publish a marketplace listing. Lily chose status and link for S6; an in-page publish flow is out of scope because publishing requires a full manifest and publisher authorization and no v2 publish page exists.
